Should have never let Dan Mullen go.

He lost the fans with the QB situation. I think everyone was still on his side until he refused to start Anthony Richardson over Emory Jones. He finally let Anthony Richardson get the start, but sent him to the wolves against Georgia and the best defense in the nation. His handling of the QB's made him an enemy in the eyes of the fans.

Dan won w Mcelwain and the lingering Muschamp recruits. Billy's had to lose w what Dan Mullen left behind from being a lazy and uninterested recruiter. Just look at player average during their respective classes and its patently obvious. 1/3rd of Dans recruits couldnt even enroll.

@@alexe727 Spurrier's offense was far more innovative and dangerous. People seem to forget 1990. It's a shame. As time goes on, more and more people are not aware of how good Spurrier was. @@edfthanos6757 Absolutely false. Mississippi produces top D linemen that are often underrated due to their location in MS high schools. Those defenses were stout. Yes with Dak Prescott, an underrated prospect from small town Louisiana, the offense was really good. Whatever you feel about him as an NFL starter the fact is he’s been able to play at a high profile job for many years now. Dan has had some solid offenses but without an elite college qb (Tebow, Dak or Trask) his offenses are just above average. He is not of the caliber of Sark, Lane, Day or Lincoln. He is at least one level below them, honestly seeing his evaluation skills, I’d say 2 levels. Also his best offenses have had Brian Johnson as the qb coach or OC, and have taken major steps back when Johnson left.

@@FrenchUncleLou dude you just proved what I said 😆. No offense is elite without right QB. Now let's take a look at all of his QBs. @@hardwiredtoself-destructio7614 He was awful. Why didn't UF have a decent DC? Because of Mullen. He put UF on probation. Got a show cause order from the NCAA. Lost every game he was supposed to win against ranked opponents. Quit coaching and doing his job. He totally destroyed his reputation by acting like a child and showing he had no loyalty to an employer paying him millions. 2018 was the only year he did well. So much talent in 2019 and found ways to lose, like against Georgia. Did everything he could to keep Trask off the field and he did the same with Dak at MSU. Required over a dozen injuries on UGA to win that game in 2020, yet still found a way to lose to LSU, was never going to beat Bama because of Grantham, and then mailed it in and got smoked by OU. Then 2021 was a complete collapse, tried to get someone in the NFL to take him away and when that didn't happen, he quit - he just quit doing his job. Also, he embarrassed the school every week of the covid year with his Darth Vader costume, complaining about the A&M crowd, the Mizzou fight, etc. Dan Mullen basically stole millions from UF and the AD facilitated that.

He coached amazing. It’s the off field stuff that lacked majority of the time. When his guys came in example Emory jones and Richardson. He plays Emory and that was a bad decision he hasn’t worked out anywhere he’s gone and he’s on his what 4th school now as a 6 year senior. Danny boy I wish you could have been the guy but it is what it is. Will always love my gators. Btw you started the Kentucky losing streak!!! I understand what Mullen is saying about stability. He deserved more time at UF. He’s easily the best coach in the post-Urban era. That being said, Billy is not the guy you want to invest in long term unless you’re content being on par with Arkansas or Vanderbilt. No. I guess you don't remember. Mullen had checked out of the game long before he was fired. He lost the locker room early on which explains why the coaches had to force the players to line up for something as simple as a field goal. Was he good as an offensive coach? Oh yea. Probably the best one, other than Big Steve when it came to calling plays and he was so good it seemed like he paid tribute to Knute, Rockne, the pagan god of CFB. Sadly, he lost his Mojo in the last couple of years and hit bottom during his last year. The team gave up on him and it was obvious to see. He can make all the excuses about facilities, which are valid, but it was his decisions and his attitude that doomed the team.

Look what Billy was able to do with the #4 draft pick… he’s not exactly known for getting the most out of his players, or putting them into positions to succeed on the field. He’s more about running his system no matter the circumstances and not adapting to his players’ skill… I get so sick of fans repeating the narrative that Billy hasn’t had talent. Bullshit. Albeit, his recruiting isn’t better than Mullen’s, and the roster he inherited was arguably more talented than this year’s. Nevertheless, Billy has had enough talent to not be sub .500 through 2 years… Face it, he’s just not a good coach at this level.

Hearing Mullen talk about how to fix the program he helped run into the ground. I knew Mullen was never going to be a great coach by his press conferences. When Spurrier or Myer lost a game, they were more upset than fans of the press. They were pissed. Same with Saban, same with Smart. Mullen always had the loser attitude of like, “hey, why are you complaining? We played good even though we lost.” Mullen was a good OC under the scrutiny of a great HC. We was a great offensive play caller. He was not a good head coach in charge of a major program. Any top program would have fired Mullen, would have fired McElwain, would have fired Muschamp. They all had a chance. At least Muschamp was a man about it. And no, UGA did not have to be patient with Smart. He was killing it from day one. They didn’t win a championship straight away, but he had them winning big time and consistently from day one, and everyone knew it wasn’t going to take long. I don’t think Florida fans expecting at least 7 wins in year 3 after three losing seasons (one of them Mullen’s) is impatient for a major program.
