Florida, Florida State, and Mississippi brought in 17 transfers last offseason. Miami brought in 15. The two years before that FSU actually brought in less transfers than the Gators and Miami. FSU and Mississippi just got the most out of their transfers, except the ones FSU got this year. The average number of transfers a team gets a year is between 15-18 players. The problem for Florida and Florida State is that they’re not competing financially to get the best High School players. The teams that can’t pay and maintain their players will not be successful on Saturdays. It’s as simple as that!

SMH... I'm a Florida alumnus who works at Ole Miss. Comments about the "can have all the co-eds he wants" says so much about not really knowing anything about Lane's life here in Oxford here and the expectations Ole Miss has. If he doesn't take the job, I won't be surprised if snide remarks like this aren't part of the reason he doesn't. I also find comments like this very disappointing in general. I feel like Florida alumni can be better and more clear eyed than that.

Billy has lost the majority of the fan base. The players have partially quit on him. Now we see why those players jumped in the portal and are getting real coaching and doin well at other programs. The University will have a full blown rebellion if Napier is retained. Nothing about him fits in Gainesville. We don't need a Bible study leader here. We need a football coach

Lane isn't a Gator,just like Muschamp,Mcelwain,Mullins, Napier, nary one of them are Gators,yet like i said 4 seasons ago,leave Mullin alone because he was young enough,and being a yankee like that,and getting couple nattys with us, I will give him the pass over Urban,he was there with Leak,and Tebow, and he wasn't responsible for Martin at qb either, that was his predecessor!!! Spurrier,had qbs who were always top 5 every season,and didn't have but the final season and only because of the injuries to Doug Johnson,Yet,N. Brindise,was on top of the play book,and Spurrier used the injury, to set an example,and rotated qbs every play,lol,and it worked,

Can't lie .. I wouldn't mind him now days. Didn't care for his antics the years he was at Tennessee but that was a long while ago. I just don't see him coming. I think we're a threat year one if Lane came and DJ stayed but even he might go if you fire his main recruiter and coach. It's about to be interesting, know that much. I just can't get Lane at Oakland, Lane at Tennessee, and Lane at USC out of my mind. And he's horrible against teams that finish with 9 or more wins. In spite of the baggage .... I'd take a run at Jon Gruden. Word is that he's ready to get back on the sideline for someone.

I think the AD job needs to be evaluated before you hire a coach. But hiring a football coach and then finding an AD would be a very Florida thing to do. Kiffin is arrogant enough to think he can coach FL(he probably could), but is he willing to live with the higher expectations? That's what sunk him at SoCal.

Again, if Fla doesn't actually straighten out their NIL, which a coach doesn't run, they have no chance of hiring a top tier sitting head coach having success in the NIL era. And no one wants to hear about the hypothetical dollars Fla has in the piggy bank, rather the real spent money that retains and attracts players - like Ole Miss has clearly had since the NIL era began. This is one the biggest factors that is professional for Kiffen. Look at the Rashada mess, and losing your two best players to the portal last year with minimal success recruiting portal players. What does a coach see when they look at Fla's NIL situation? That's concrete and not potential?

We have a huge budget, too bad we are losing millions on paying out old coaching contracts. Here is a crazy concept for ALL NIL, pay the players based on performance! Motivate them to actually earn their pay. No one is paying out for Name, Image and Likeness on a subpar player. No one is buying that jersey.

You are right. They are not the same. Florida is a" has been" program with a hideous 25-25 record over the last 5 years. A miserable program that has no clue whatsoever about how college football works in this day and age. On the other hand, you have a program at Ole Miss that is 35-14 in the last 5 years. They have one of the top 5 NIL's, a great AD, a great fan base, and plenty of money - You are right - They used to be a better program........100 years ago..........not now. As Saban inferred, any decent coach will avoid Florida like a plaque! .

Florida should offer him $100 million a year and not pay him the same way they did Jaden Rashada. If I was a recruit I wouldn’t even consider going to Florida after they screwed that kid like that. Florida is a dumpster fire and they are where they belong unranked and broke. I can’t wait to see the next huge embarrassing failure they hire for head coach. Maybe Spurrier can come back at 80 years old or hire Chris Doering since he’s so good at evaluating talent saying “UF was going to smoke Miami” after being around the team and Napier for summer practice lol what a clown 🤡 he is. I’m interested to see what the recruiting class looks like after this year and how many players hit the portal during the mass exodus of UF for not receiving their NIL money because Florida needs the money to pay Rashada’s law suit, as well as Mullins and Napier off. The entire Football program is a fraud.
