Dan Seals formerly of England Dan and John Ford Coley stops by to talk about his music, career, life and other things that happened during his rise to top in the easy listening and country music fields.
I had the privilege of having dinner with Dan Seals in the early 90's the night he played a concert at the fairgrounds in eastern Washington. What a great guy! I still love listening to his music, and really miss him.
Dan's been gone a long time now and we just lost his brother Jimmy Seals from Seals and Crofts. Two losses but we still have their music to prove their talent. Been a fan of both for over 50 years starting with England Dan and John Ford Coley. Their music moves me and it was great to hear this interview with Dan. His song "Big Wheels in the Moonlight" expresses his early growing up years in west Texas but I am glad that he traveled the world as it made his music and life so much richer and fuller.
All I can say is that his parents were proud of raising this man so humble even in the way he talks. I love his songs, so precious songs that now are hard to find.... RIP England Dan...
Missing you Dan Seals... So much of your music is what made me fall in love with Country Music. You are very much missed by alotta of People. Including Me!
I admired his sensitivity in his writing. Also, I saw him perform in Santa Rosa ca when my girlfriend broke up with me and got married a couple months later because I wouldn't commit. His songs are like modern hymns, and I sure wish he were still around. Blessings.
This was around the time that I had the first opportunity to see and meet this amazing man. I was just a little girl and now I'm almost 40.. he will calm me for the rest of my life ❤️
Love his voice, songs, and his writing was amazing. Definitely is missed! His song Blessed is on all my Playlist. Also meet me in Montana and Everything that glitters, is not gold. I liked Bop but I feel like he had so many other songs that were so much better, just didn't catch the listener's ears.
What brought me here today was the song by England Dan and John Ford Coley on After Life recently. Season 3, in episode 6 Love Is The Answer is played. When I heard the song in the show, I knew I’d heard it before, but I could not remember the artists. I googled in later that night and found out who sang it again. My Mom was the Music Director at CKLW, her name was Rosalie Trombley. Back in the 70’s CKLW was a major career maker for artists. If you got your song on the Big 8 (cklw’s moniker because it was 800 on the am dial) it was a big deal. I know she played England Dan’s and John Ford Coley’s songs. Fast forward to today, I had no idea that Dan’s last name was Seals and that his older brother was in Seals and Crofts. I also did not know that Dan is no longer is with us and that he died when he was so young at 61. I lost my Mom on November 23, 2021. She left a big legacy for women in broadcasting - even today. I believe that Dan has also left a huge legacy through us music. I had no idea that he came from country music. Now that I have discovered this, I will gladly explore and listen to his songs. To Dan’s family, I am truly sorry for your loss. Dan had a ton of talent and I know he is missed today. I think it is great that After Life played Love Is The Answer…. It was kind of like a Pandora’s box moment for me. RIP Dan. 🙏🏻🌹🙏🏻
Huge fan of Dan seals music . I especially enjoy his first two solo albums that unfortunately don’t get any airplay . There absolutely brilliant . Unbelievable talent ! RIP Dan 🙏♥️.
He was and still one of my fave singers until now. His kind of songs were classical and he's a legend! Was he rich? His songs were all very lovable! Great interview... I loved smell of incense, didn't know who did it... Loved England Dan and John ford Colley.... Loved Dan Seals the country singer.. Never had any idea they were all Dan Seals singing.... What a carer... 3 different genres of music... A man I wish I had met....Predivorce paranoia, my most popular song on you tube.... Dan would have liked it....
We certainly need to be grateful to have this and other great footage available to view... giving some welcome context to artists' whose music we may have grown up with. I am enjoying re-living the music that resonates and researching those artists to learn more as to why. Then, you see the connections to other musical artists/producers/songwriters such as Glen Campbell, etc. Very cool!
He left this world very fast ; here is the prayer for his soul : “…O my God, Thy Trust hath been returned unto Thee. It behooveth Thy grace and Thy bounty that have compassed Thy dominions on earth and in heaven, to vouchsafe unto Thy newly welcomed one Thy gifts and Thy bestowals, and the fruits of the tree of Thy grace! Powerful art Thou to do as Thou willest, there is none other God but Thee, the Gracious, the Most Bountiful, the Compassionate, the Bestower, the Pardoner, the Precious, the All-Knowing. I testify, O my Lord, that Thou hast enjoined upon men to honor their guest, and he that hath ascended unto Thee hath verily reached Thee and attained Thy Presence. Deal with him then according to Thy grace and bounty! By Thy glory, I know of a certainty that Thou wilt not withhold Thyself from that which Thou hast commanded Thy servants, nor wilt Thou deprive him that hath clung to the cord of Thy bounty and hath ascended to the Dayspring of Thy wealth…”
suppose they gave a war and nobody came was a song by West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band (the band dan mentions wrote the song smell of incense, and made a bit bigger hit of it)
