I'm 20 years old, so I was only six or seven when Dan Seals died, and thus, I didn't really get to hear him during his hayday. But, as I've gotten older, and started to become an enthusiast of old country music, I have grown to be a huge fan of Dan Seals. Great voice, and songs that really get in your feelings. One of the best to do it.....
This is one of my absolute favorite older Country Songs. Before the "New" Country stomped in and Country music went down the drain. Rest in Peace Dan Seals. So much talent. This song is such a heart breaker and I still love it so.......
I didn't realize he'd passed. I was a kid during Seals & Crofts days, and I saw him in concert around the time of "Bop." Great song, in the tradition of Merle Haggard's "Holding Things Together." I didn't recall the song, until I saw a wonderful cover by John Paul White.
That pedal steel adds to the soulfulness of this song. It's a stunner. There are very few country songs like it these days. Give a listen to John Paul White's version. Also, the Haley Sisters. Both are stellar. Dan would be proud...
My mind wonders back into the 80s when I heard this on the radio and I was in tears, I looked over at my dad, hoping he hadn't noticed me crying, but he had big huge tears in his eyes too. ❤ I miss my sweet Dad. Died same year as Dan. He sure was a favorite at our house.
Dan is left handed playing a right handed Martin 12 string upside down. Amazing talent. One of my all time favorite songs EVER! Gone way too soon. RIP.
This is the best it gets live and with acoustic only, you can't hide anything like this , you're either good or terrible , maybe new artist should pay attention to what this man could do.... , Dan Seals was a fantastic singer and guitar player and I will miss him and hope that country music remembers him and gives him the credit he so rightly deserves , RIP Dan because I will never forget your contribution to music and country music as a whole...thank you sir... it was a pleasure to hear you on the radio while you were with us and it reminds me of how great you were every time I hear you on the radio after you're passing, bless you and your family
One of my favorite songs. Did not realize that he had passed away. I had the pleasure of meeting Dan in 1988. He was in town doing a benefit concert for Special Olympics. I was part of the stage crew and I talked to him a couple times that day. He was one of the nicest guys I ever met. Rest In Peace, Dan.
This is one of my all-time favorite Country songs and my all-time favorite version of this song. There's something about this acoustic version that gives me chills every time I listen to it. Especially when Dan sings those high notes. Wow!
Brian Brooks - There is another unplugged version with Dan accompanied by several other country legends. It’s later than this one, and even more moving. It’s on RU-vid, too.
1) This Song Reminds Me Of Raising My Daughter Alone Without Her Mom. But, You Know, Looking Back, I Wouldn't Trade The Great Memories We Have Together For The World. 2) Dan's Voice Gives Me Chill Down My Spine.
I didn't realize that Dan Had passed away. He will be greatly missed as a very classic country singer that sang real country songs from the heart as only a real cowboy could. Rest in peace my cowboy hero....Your songs will always be in my heart. March 25th will be marked on my calendar as a day to remember the classic cowboy singer...RIP...Cowboy
It's hard to believe that he's been gone for nearly a year and a half, now. I absolutely love to hear his music, especially "My Old Yellow Car" and "One Friend". I am still in disbelief over his passing on. R.I.P., Dan.
The name Dan Seals says it all! An amazing man, with an amazing talent. One of my all-time favorite songs, by one of my all-time favorite artists. RIP Dan!
i used to work in Mcamy Texas for a guy that knew this man that song right there is so beautiful and tells a story alot of us could tell in our own way and bonus he is left handed like Just beiber there is something magical about them leftys , i miss you Dan and if you were at Billy Bobs id go there now to dance to every song
That is so true. I still like country music, but my favorites will always be from the 80’s and early 90’s. Dan Seals is one of my favorites. What a wonderful pure voice he had. This song always makes me tear up😢
I absolutely love this song, and I am so sad that he passed away. Somebody mentioned on another video that they visited his final resting place, and it had no flowers just weeds covering it, broke my heart. But they said they clean it up and left some pretty flowers
Shannon, I was one of those Dads raising a daughter like that but in the early 2000's. Every time I hear this beautiful song by this beautiful man I think of what that stupid woman left behind and gave up to go out to "find her dream". It's 2022 now and she still hasn't found what she was looking for. She already had it all and left it behind. We're better off without her.
I just cannot believe he died! He is one of my favorite musicians. When he was doing the England Dan he was awesome and even switching to country it was just so natural for him. Amazing singer/songwriter/guitarist. The world says Goodbye to yet another legendary artist.
This is apex of Dan's hard work he was a pop star in 1970s liked all his music I'm glad he went to the country side.use to be u had to only sing 1 type of music.
RIP Dan. You were a great talent. There is nothing I love to do more than sing and play my old Hummingbird. Maybe, when it's my time, I can play and sing with you, Dan Fogelburg, Kevin Sharp and many other people that are now with God. Thank you for the many years of great music.
Yeah...thanks Comicus for mentionning about the left hand playing, with right hand stringed guitar........... First time i ever see anyone play this way.... :) Dan Seals was truly one of a kind in many ways........
I've always been so impressed how he plays a right-handed 12-string, left-handed and upside down with the strings in their original fretting. (Not reversed) Great cross-picking on his modified chords. Always loved this song and Dan's vocals! 😊
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, this song can resonate to so many single parents that have had to raise their children. I was one of them. His words are amazing, his voice is so smooth. RIP Dan and how awesome that all these years after you left this world we are still talking about you and you’re changing lives ❤️ with your music.
Dan seals with mark and Jerry. Heavenly combo. It wish thatjerry had played that dobro solo as in the original version of this song. It was so melancholy and beautiful.
I had never been a fan of country music , but since I've gotten hooked on RU-vid I've discovered many county music artists ( from back in the day when country was artful and touching ) such as Steve Goodman , Vince Gill , Arlo Guthrie , Bonnie Raitt , JOHN PRINE , Dan Seals of course , Willie Nelson , Dan Whitley , Kris Kristofferson , Rita Coolidge , Dolly Parton , Lyle Lovett , Conway Twitty , Allan Jackson , Kate Wolf , Jamey Johnson, Glenn Campbell and a host of others I seem to be blocking on right now . Their songs were filled with beautiful and heart-rending stories , had melodies that were really fine and were almost always wonderfully performed and were always respectful and thoughtful that touched deep emotions inside us . What a far cry from the sorry state of country music today - it's more like pop-fluff . Let's hear more of the delightful songs and artists from "yesteryear" which always enriched the listener and made us hunger for more . Go Country ! George Lewis, Sr.
I was trying to learn this song years ago. I was playing it one night when my 2 year old Vizsla ran in from another room and put her head on my shoulder until I finished. I lost her in February. I don't think I'll ever be able to do this song again.
Dan Seals! May God keep you in Heavens, Country music Angel! And, i also thank my mum who made me discover this great artist. R.I.P. to you, beloved mummy!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
It speaks of love , loss and the deep love of not letting a old friend go just be cause he old and past his time for he has found pure gold in his life with little cassie & old red
I sing this song in a band and also at karaoke. It throws the women a curve because they are used to being portrayed as perfect, god-like creatures that are never wrong. I just dedicate the song to all the little Casey's in the world and the crowd loves it every time. Not woman hating but am tired of the women do no wrong thing in music. Thank you Dan Seals for a different kind of love song that could be a movie and probably happens more than people know.
I'll always remember this great song on the radio in 1986 working with an uncle .I hope this song was a no 1 hit for Dan I'm not sure.i know u hurd it a lot.
I was going to emcee a charity David Allen Coe concert but David got sick. Well Dan took the phone call in Nashville and drove up with 2 guys to Springfield, Illinois. What a special human being, he had as much heart as his music. He was taken from us too soon and you won't find too many songs like this one. What a great performer and guy. God Bless Dan Seals!
Thank you very much sir dan we have all your songs on sd card ,and it plays everyday, when their songs played feels like my burden in my heart lightens. Im a big fan of country songs and proud of it...your songs instill in our hearts.
A friend of mine reminded me today that Dan Seals passed away in 2009. This is one of the best songs he recorded. (I use to play it regularly where I performed) I particularly relate to this being a single dad and a traveling musician. I gave up the quest for "all that glitters" for the pursuit of being a real, stay at home dad when he was born in 2000. Now, I mostly travel the 2 lanes in West Virginia. I have since found the 'real gold,' thanks to my boy.
I became a huge fan after he went solo in the 80's...fell in love with this sweet soul the day I heard "You Still Move me"....I play so many songs from RU-vid nearly every night & let them take me back to the bitter sweet times past....My friends ask why am I in love with so many dead men LOL...I tell them I fell long before they left here....Patrick Swayze, Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers, Dan Seals & my first love, Danny T....I hope I get to see them again one day.....xoxoxoxo
never was a Dan Seals fan until recently. I love country music and was raised up on it. My parents are from the Pasty Cline, George Jones, etc era. When i heard Dan Seals and Paul Davis sing Bop i instantly became a fan of both of them. They both are great artists.
