blake lively was literally meant to play serena like the casting for this show is insane lol her mannerisms and everything is exactly how you imagine serena when reading the books lol
@@susana01992 it's upsetting that lily and rufus never got to be endgame all because the writers wrote themselves into a corner regarding dan and serena's stories. im a strong believer in the idea that serena and dan shouldve stayed friends post season 2 - their relationship always felt like puppy love and pure idealisation; anytime the other got a glimpse of their partner's flaws, they were immediately turned off. they just felt incompatible beyond the sensationalised-idea of "being from 2 different worlds" - their relationship felt very bare-bones and flat beyond this dynamic and the dynamic in question grew old extremely fast. their relationship was then soured even further by the fact that they spend a good time acting as step siblings (itd be one thing if they had trouble settling into those roles, but it never felt like they did - they truly felt like siblings for a time) and the stomach-churning plot point of their shared brother... then there's the obvious fact that the gossip girl reveal meant that dan had been the one tormenting serena for years. icks all around. lily and rufus were everything dan and serena were supposed to be, but better and... not disgusting. they felt infinitely more compatible and their chemistry was off the charts. i understand the significance of "chair" to the viewers, but i think the big wedding the show ended on shouldve been lily and rufus' - especially w how their story of wanting to be together, but constantly being separated by fate spans back to the very beginning of season 1 - this wouldve been the greatest "full-circle" moment in the entire show imho. either way, serena and dan were gross in so many ways and lily ending up w william was the most anti-climactic conclusion to all of the shows plot beats imaginable
Oh my god why does Serena always just barge in and rummage for an entire 5 seconds and the second she gets a text she “has to geaux” like I’m convinced she’s not real and a part of some secret government experiment cuz no one has this much energy in real life
