I think the “polish “ you’re referring to is the confidence, the maturity, the IT , the WOW that Dan developed as he matured. ❤

I've heard Dan say more than once that he hates when people refer to him as talented but I think he takes that in the context that people don't appreciate the amount of hard work he's put into getting where he is. That he somehow is just good at it without having to work at it. I think he is most definitely talented but for me that means he was born with a set a of tools that most of us didn't get. He's taken those tools and continued to work to perfect his craft. The younger Dan, older Dan comparison is a perfect example of that work. I would bet if he did this song again today, it would be even better because the older version is from 5 years ago. He has also worked hard at building himself up physically. He doesn't just work out, he studies body building techniques. Seeing him now, versus these older videos, you can see it.

Dan has always had a beautiful voice. I have followed him for about five years now. In my opinion, what has improved the most, is the quality of his videos. He has become a master of layering his voice, facial expressions and adding the emotion needed for every song. He also chooses other artists he collaborates with who are also exceptional. He puts everything he has into his videos so that they are not only beautiful to listen to, but are so enjoyable to watch. His talent for making his videos is just amazing. He does it all. He records from a room in his home, then video tapes in his garage. Apparently, he has only one camera, so he has to sing the same song a minimum of three times, with different camera angles. Then he has to match up all the angles into one video. Dan has mentioned, that he has a hard time letting someone else help him, he wants complete control. Just recently, he hired someone to do the mastering. He said it took him some time to find someone he could trust! Thanks for another great reaction to Dan!

I think he experienced some bad dealings with people and companies trying to take control and/or cheating him.

I love that his older-younger stuff is up. He teaches the younger ones that we all have to start somewhere, if you work hard to improve, you will! And better equipment helped 😉 He has definitely put the hours & years of training/work in. You're correct, he just polished it up. And getting older & comfortable in our own bodies helps. 😄

I love that Dan leaves all of his old videos up so we can go back in time and see how far he has come. You can see his growth in his equipment, vocal talent and even in body and hair. It is interesting to see how much he has grown.

There was plenty of "promise" in Dan's earlier videos. He himself calls them "cringe" and "they suck". Personally, I don't think that at all but he keeps them up, not only to show his progression but also to encourage "up and coming" singers. He offers a lot of advice to these people in some of his podcasts throughout the years. I think Dan has become a magnificent singer/performer and deserves all the fame he can get for all his hard work. Thankyou and looking forward to more Dan reactions😃

The difference between the two videos for me is Dan's older, fuller voice and the video's current better production. At that time, Dan was learning how to produce and studying more to be better. The voice only differs with maturity, but he brilliantly sang this song, which is one of Andre's most difficult, because he also sang the notes in different tones in his songs. It's not just anyone who can interpret his songs. Andre was a musical genius, as well as an excellent singer. He was a great conductor who composed and also played several instruments. I've been following Dan for 10 years and I've loved him ever since, and I've only seen him mature professionally in his singing and in the production of his videos. tks

Thank you for your reaction to Dan. This cover shows Dan's great development over the years. Not only the vocals but also the equipment and his mixing and mastering. His voice was already good 12 years ago, but today it's phenomenal. He recorded a video for his 100th cover in 2018, "Go the Distance", in which he shows his 1st cover from 2010 to the 99th cover in 2018 (not all of them, of course). Very emotional, but beautiful.

Thank you for your continued support and wonderful reaction to these 2 covers by Dan. What a development from a young, talented man to a special singer and artist through hard work, discipline and perseverance. There were certainly many ups and downs. He has reached his goal of 1 million subscribers. I'm excited about what's to come.

Dan's "just do it" approach is such an inspiration! He has often mentioned that if we wait until e v e r y t h I n g is perfect, we'll never gettir done. I ran across a young boy singing along with Dan's Amazing Grace. He had a hearts desire, which is the 1st small step. I've also seen a grown man attempt Dan's Amazing Grace in church. I'm sure there's more. Desire, lessons, more desire that puts learned skills to good use, etc, ...long before the gadgets become a must have. Dan's the man! I really enjoyed that you played both renditions Dan did. 1st try & more recent one. What a wonderful way to show the importance of what Dan himself shares with us. Thank you for sharing!

Zack Wow what a great and deserving reaction for Dan. I love that he has saved and encourages anyone to go back in time to his beginning. His "Go the Distance " video to Michael Boltons song is a great montage of photo's. He documents pics of his Journey and has the year and song posted to the left of the screen that changes from then to now. I truly appreciate your Critiques. Dan is a wonderful young man and has a great personality. As you said his talent isn't just in his voice it's his expression, emotion and humility. Keep going he has so much to share ❣️👍 Thank you I've subscribed ! Sending blessings , 72 yr old Noni Grandma of 2⚘️

Enjoyed your reaction. It's always fun when Dan redoes an earlier video and we can fully compare the progression in his vocal techniques and quality. Simply fantastic. In his older videos he almost always listed himself as Daniel Vasconcelos. I think this one is the only one I've seen where the screen showed Daniel Andrade instead of Vasconcelos. But that's because his full name is actually Daniel Vasconcelos Pereira De Andrade

So right away, you see one reason for a secondary recording, some years later. 😀 As he goes on, and the music keeps overwhelming him a bit, and I see and feel him tense up, I want to breathe for him. As you said, his "toolshed" is there, but there are so many changes he will be making over the years, with his surroundings (as you also mentioned), AND with his vocal training. There's also his confidence involved. One thing that I love about the first one (other than the innocence and perseverance) is his actual realization of the song's meaning and feelings. GREAT JOB reacting to the first one. I figured pretty much where you would go with that, and I love it! I'm REALLY excited to hear the next part, and I'm glad you connected them. - - - - - - - - - - One of the first things I noticed in the newer one, because I had seen a LOT of his newer videos that have come after that, before checking this one out, is that he still didn't have his red microphone. Still...that gray one was WAY better than his original set-up, so...yeah...as you said...being able to upgrade equipment, etc. (like his new garage studio for the background, at that time)...BIG improvement, right there. Yes! Night and day with the vocals. Well-said, regarding the breath-control and everything else about his technique. I love it so much...and I don't have to "breathe for him" any longer! 😀 Refinement...YES! Then comes the GRIT, with that facial expression, and the emotions just POURING out. Oh, my word! When I watched this version, I had already printed the lyrics for myself (and I kept them for future reference, because I LOVE the song). That was when I realized that at that point, he had gone over into singing AS the grieving "fairy lady," rather than ABOUT her plight, and it's when I began to cry. I can't help it. I'm still right there...just as he intended with that change. It makes me hurt for that woman, no end, and appreciate Dan's vocal and role-playing abilities all the more. Listening to even later songs (like the Phantom songs he has done) just totally blows my heart away, now. I think, perhaps, that the song (sung the way he does it) gets to me SO much, because of that full understanding, because of my dad passing away when he was only 54 years old. It was when I realized that I can still hold all the love and old memories in my heart, for my wonderful "Daddy," that I was able to get on with life without the bitterness that I felt at first, for his early departure. That's what I feel from this song. - - - - - - - - - - As for something that I can do better than I could six/seven years ago, it's being able to SING again, after about 12 years of hardly being able to sing at all, when that was all I EVER wanted to do (it was all I had ever DONE, other than get straight A grades in school -- grin). As well as having had surgery/hip replacements for both legs (in 2017), and now having excellent medication that catches any stray joint inflammation almost immediately, and vanquishes it, I now have Dan to listen to, since a few days after he released "Amazing Grace" on April 7, 2023. I've gone to the very bottom of his channel and carefully watched his progression (like in these two versions of the same song, etc.) and gotten back a lot of my own muscle memory and breath control from watching carefully and imitating his methods. Now, just over a year later, I'm only a few notes away from getting back to my previous nearly 6-octave range, with my tonal quality mending more and more every day. I also have Dan's e-book "Healthy Voice" that was sent to me when I registered on his website, and it has been a HUGE part of that recovery, as well. Anyone can get that, for free, by e-mail, by the way, from that site. All you have to do is register. YOU DID A GREAT DOUBLE REACTION, Zack. Thank you HUGELY. You have blessed me no end. Also...you don't NEED to get better looking. As a very happily married woman (coming up on our 41st anniversary), a 74-year-old mom, grandma, and great-grandma, I can say this without being called a "cougar." You're a fine-looking man, with great intelligence, and a great personality. Keep up that presence, and you'll never go wrong. 😀

Enjoyed your reaction. I think a lot of what we were hearing is the maturation of a voice that comes with education and age. Dan has invested a lot of time and effort into his career. He is so multi-talented and loves his singing so much that it shows whenever he does a cover. I am always fascinated by his younger version vs his more current versions. You can really get a great appreciation for all his energy and hard work, as well as the apparent love of his craft. Thanks for featuring this one.

Huge Dan Vasc fan here and the first time I heard this cover I was blown away. It has become one of my favorite Dan covers. With that said, we all know that no one can ever replace a lead singer of any band and sound the same. However, if you listen to the Shaman video of this song, Dan would actually be a great replacement for our beloved Andre Matos (RIP). I hate saying replacement since Andre has passed away but I think you know what I mean. Hail VascNation ❤Yes, I know Dan wouldn’t do that since he has his own band.

Beginners have to go through the beginner phaze and work hard, eventually you will get better]. It is so hard to realize that it may quiteca while until you learn enough to make the art the way you see it in your mind.
