This game doesn't even try to be subtle about how it bullshits rolls.

Yeah, it's literally what difficulty level changes in this game. The AI gets bullshit rolls and avoids every pitfall in their way. Thankfully for Dan, he just had too many properties for the AI to get through every single time.

There was the one playing of Monopoly where it was Arin or Dan (forget which) vs. one of the Hard AIs, with Arin having 90% of the properties and filled them with houses and hotels, and the AI just kept getting Chance and Community Chest and Free Parking and Jail. They went, like, 6 or 7 turns around the board without hitting one of Arin's properties once.

Dan's solid at most board games but when the luck gods come they come to COLLECT.

This version of Monopoly is pretty notorious for the AI "cheating". I think the way it actually works is it rigs rolls based on waves of "good luck and bad luck". If you watch closely, you'll see that for individual players will often get a series of terrible outcomes. Last episode it was Arin paying Dan money, then paying $100 to Chance, then landing on Boardwalk (though owner was in jail). The game basically decided to target Arin for a bit. Especially with Hard AI, you'll see just how often they "thread the needle" at the endgame. It's pretty unrealistic to avoid a death-row for 10 trips around the board when rolling a 7 would mean you lose, for instance, but the AI often do it when they play this game.

AI cheats, when those stop being death spots, they become valid outcomes again.

But the reality is it probably cost him nothing because the AI only landed on those properties BECAUSE he was in jail. If he wasn't in jail, they probably would have landed elsewhere.

@@brett7398 I think it does more than that. Michel and especially Seraphina made much smarter decisions with their auctions than the easy NPCs (note: Iker not buying a single property in the entire game)

Besides a couple of decisions, the hard AI is just to get specific dice rolls to avoid harmful properties

Im an OG game grumps fan, and i can confidently say im completely done with monopoly and wheel of fortune both.

I really wish they'd come around to the idea that the "worst idea" and the "most entertaining idea" aren't always the same thing.

Every time he was putting a house on the blues I was feeling he was crazy for doing that when he could instead unmortgaged the brown properties and then used the turbo cheap house prices on brown properties to choke out the number of houses in the game

Him not un-mortgaging the Yellows was constantly killing me. Arin with the Reds too.

The Hard AI literally just rigs the dice rolls - they're not smarter, they're just artificially "luckier"

dan is very competitive lol people call arin a sore winner/loser but he's just bein silly both ways, dan like genuinely wants to crush and humiliate the competition lmfao

@@MegamanStarforce2010 Yeah, a lot of people joked about the genuine strategic masterminding that was Dan manipulating Jacksepticeye against Arin when they all played Monopoly. Dan was clearly ahead from start to finish and he somehow rallied a coalition against Arin because Arin was gloating about the outcome of one turn. haha
