EXCELLENT. Showed the details I was un certain about that every other D30 vid dont show. Great video quality, edits, lighting, no BS... BRAVO! Installing 4.88s with a TruTrak LSD.. Did the rear D44 already and its pretty sweet.
Dude your killing it,I really enjoy your work, I’ve watched so many gear set up videos but you really take the time to thoroughly explain what your process is. Unfortunately I won’t be tackling my gears it’s headed to the shop in two weeks to go from 3:73 to 4:56.
Realy good video, most useful as I am going to be doing my first regear as soon as I get back from our summer holiday. But I wondered why you didn't use the case spreader for the final install of the carrier?
Good luck it’s a bit of a chore you’ll do just fine! And I didn’t use the spreader in that moment just to show that it can be done without it. I did use the spreader most of the time. 🍻🍻
@@ATEMOFFROAD Thanks. I'm fitting an ARB in mine, so process a bit different. But with the copper airline being vilnerable I am trying to avoid using a deadblow to pound the carrier in.
Very cool. Will be a nice selectable locking setup! Definitely recommend using the spreader for both in and out of the carrier. You will still need a dead blow to seat the bearings as the spreader should only open the case no more than 20 thou and it’s not enough to overcome preload. But I do believe your shim stacks will now be on the outside of the bearings?
So I am confused why the side the ring gear is physically on the carrier is called the non-ring gear side and the side the bolt heads are on is called the ring gear side... Seems backward. Also, my GC has the 249J transfer case. Would this PowerTrax locker be acceptable to run in my front diff.?
@@ThatGuyFromArizona the way you mentioned is backwards, left side or bolt hole side for ring gear is Marked R ring gear side. NR is marked for Non ring side. Where do I mention this? Its mainly helpful so you don’t mix up the bearing caps if you plan to make setup bearings with the old. And helpful when making shim stacks for backlash and carrier preload. As far as carrier fitment use the Powertrax website for year make and model. 🍻🍻
