December 17, 1994 - Speedy, elusive, hair-trigger stroke, peerless floater - Dana Barros had all the makings of a modern gunner, and he utilized those weapons to become an all-star in 1995, averaging 20.6 points and 5 assists en route to running away with the Most Improved Player award. While it's worth noting that Barros' .464 percent 3-point accuracy occurred on a slightly shortened line (the league moved the 3-point line in for a couple years in the mid-90's), it's also worth acknowledging that Barros had been virtually just as deadly on the former line, hence his pull-ups in the clip above often taking place steps behind the line.
Considering even Blake Griffin attempted over six 3-pointers per game in 2020, one may surmise that Barros' shooting talent may have been fully unleashed in the modern age (even at his peak, Barros never averaged more than 5.2 3-point attempts per game).
Barros once held the NBA record for most consecutive games with a 3-pointer (89). That mark has since been eclipsed by both Kyle Korver and Stephen Curry.
