Dana White and Theo Von discuss Dana's toughest retirement in the UFC which happens to be former LW champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Taken from "This Past Weekend 470 | Dana White" - Full Episode: • Dana White | This Past...
Not really he didn’t sell many ppv after his Conor fight. It’s more so legacy he’s 29-0 with 16 being outside ufc and 13 of those only 6 good wins compare that too other goats who have many more better wins and title defenses. Because he had to leave early it’s hard to talk about him next to jones and gsp
@@rinomedingin6390 I can respect the mindset but still there should be some morality. We all know what kind of a person he is, but he is still going around trying to show others that he is a bigger person and that he respects each and every fighter.
U might be right. I'm just saying that you can see it when you have nothing. Who is really with you. If not it's just fake respect. If you know what I mean@@vis9337..
@edsherwook5196 Promoter? Are u nuts? He runs the show. And he is a piece of sh** to everyone who passed in the UFC. Khabib is in peace. Always respect a man who puts his faith and beliefs above any money prize.
man of faith's favourite person is evil then. Wtf even Khabib said he loves Dana, every bit of money Khabib has, Dana helped him get. Without Khabib UFC wouldn't have lost as much as Khabib would have lost without UFC. Both in this world and in the other, since Khabib promoted Islam in a big scale again THANKS TO UFC and Dana.
@@arzamondHe's so weak tho, khabib was trying so hard for finally a tough opponent but Connor disappointed him for not even putting a real fight. Corner is only good for trash talk
@@loveguru5859Khabib Needed a jon jones but a light weight version You know what sometimes i have this crazy thought that Khabib can Beat Jon too 😂😂😂😂 you never know
I always understood why Khabib retired. His father was more than his father. He was his teacher, his coach, his trainer, his mentor, and that voice in the corner since he was on that tape wrestling that baby bear. When you lose someone like that, things aren't the same. A part of you dies.
I agree 100% this happened to me when my father passed away

@@charliehay1520my dad left the mortal coil 20 years ago this year , i feel the void it left every single day and not a single thing or person ive met on this earth since has been able to take the place my father resided in within my spirit and heart. Its been vacant ever since, sometimes its so noticeable i can almost feel that empty space inside of me. I miss him every day still
Yes, Dana wants to make money off of khabib people. We understand you’re like the 10 millionth person who said that but he does have a point Khabib did have a way more to offer.
Tiramisu Tuesday defended his title that he won by decision against 3 strikers over the course of 3 years and ran from the only opponent that was a good match for him: Tony Ferguson. Khabib a coward who used his father’s death as an excuse to not have to face El Cucuy
well was his career that long to be the "most dominant", like GSP and the Diaz brothers have been in the sport for ages, even Connor. I don't know. I think he is a beast, but wouldn't compare it with GSP.
@@m.r.a7992 what do you and? Anyone can say 'never let this sport retire you' if they retire as young as that 😂 he was right in the middle of his prime, he was scared to lose his 0. Islam is building a far greater fighting legacy than Khabib, Islam wraps Khabib up.
@davidtawse6765 scared to lose from ? He literally vacuumed in the whole division and retired on top with absolutely zero damage and scratch for fuk sake 🤦
@@m.r.a7992 He was a weight bully who was 20-0 fighting tomato cans, he got ragdolled by Tibau and he only fought 3/4 elite fighters in his whole career. He didn't fight the best lw in the division (not including himself) at the time who was on the longest win streak in UFC lw in history at the time. There were other contenders too and fighters he didn't fight too. Vacuuming the division is what Islam is doing, it's what Stipe did at heavyweight (till he got told old) and what Jon Jones did at light heavyweight.
I will give Khabib all the respect in the world if he stays retired. Retiring for his family and sticking to it knowing what he knows is legendary. Class act
He's one of the few I believe that they're done. He seems so entrenched in his beliefs and the way he lives, I couldn't see him coming back. But we'll see. You never know.
And then when he starts to decline (as all athletes do), he'll start taking his first serious hits, which could cause a rapid decline in his cognitive ability. Then Dana White will pretend he never knew him.
To be a bit of a devil’s advocate, that’s mainly his job. He’s got a whole league that he’s responsible for bringing the most money possible into so he’s gonna do what he can to get as much viewership as possible. And I don’t think he didn’t respect the decision of Khabib, he’s just saying it hurt, same way it did to the fans
@@fattahahmed7598Dana only cares about money. He doesnt understand people like Khabib who have principles and morals outside of the pursuit of wealth.
@@fattahahmed7598 You're not the devil's advocate. You're satan's little helper. Dana let his parents die without speaking a word to them. He has no soul.
@@Eyeofthetiger69 he still is what is the point in bringing your body fat so low and be hungry all the time when you can be stronger and healthier. He also dont have to prepare for a fight so there is no need to be that slim his workout and his following of the religion and the realness to himself shows his disciplin.
So many retired when the sport forced them to, khabib retired because he lost his father and it was on his own terms Respect tho to all athletes who train day in day out to put on a performance for all of us to watch
Khabib was a true sportman fighting for his family and for his nation not for money, he has enough for his family doesn't want to fight without his father blessing.
@@davidtawse6765exactly. So many people are blinded by their love for the dude , but the simple fact is he ducked a countless number of guys that actually presented a challenge.
Now I’ll tell you the truth !!!!,khabib retired because he could no longer cut from 200 pounds to 155 anymore was getting older lol, nearly died twice cutting weight, missed loads fights missing weight,he knew coudnt step up to welterweight as it was a wrestlers division, khamzat usman edwards colby would all beat him,
@@ss-mw9djhe wasn’t undefeated lol, lost to Tibau and he knew it himself watch he’s reaction thought he had lost, that was the only wrestler he faced, also clear on video he tapped to rda
He got out with his health his pride his dignity and is busy building his own empire plus he was and is the hardest worker in the room everytime I see them lot training they are all at it for hours and hours on end it’s crazy, props to khabib
do you think islam is getting/ will get dana white privilege lol? he's a great fighter and he garners a lot of attention for the ufc, dana has no reason not to support him
A fighter who isnt solely motivated by money but rather his own legacy and family is an enigma to Dana. Khabib absolutely could have had a few more fights and made millions more but he didnt feel the need to. He and his family will live comfortably thanks to his earnings and for him that is enough. He does not require the yachts or groupies or Conor to feel fufillment.
They don’t get it. He retired bc of 1 thing only, he promised his mother he wouldnt fight without his dad. Yes, we’re the type of people that stick to those types of promises to our mothers.
And add on to the fact that he’s in a position where he doesn’t need the money anymore cuz of what he made prior to his fathers passing……he’s chilling now
@@Jimmymatthewb anyone who thinks that’s the ONLY reason is blind…….ofc he wants to honor his father & keeps his mothers word…….but he was also in the biggest PPV fight in UFC history & made millions off fighting already…….dude was already comfortable financially which made it easy for him to retire
@@Justhoops1 He was in the highest PPV, so he had every reason to stay and make loads more money. You think a champ thinks like that? This is why I said y'all don't understand that there are some people who actually care about their parents and their promises more than money and fame. He was going to keep fighting and making more money than ever for at least another 6-7 years normally but stopped it all. The blindness is on the part of the ppl who think that everyone is a materialist nihilist just bc that's what they observe in the world around them.
Smartest guy in the sport tbh. No controversy no serious damage that we know of that can later affect him he took few beatings made his name famous made millions and left. Smart as hell
I quit my job and doing my own thing for almost two and half years. I don’t miss the work at all. I may not be making as much money as I used to but I’m a lot happier and free in general for the little things in life like dropping off and picking up my daughter from school. Money is a tool, but if ever in your life the process of making money comes in between you and your life, you always choose life. There’s so many ways you can make money and still enjoy life.
No your surly over exaggerating with “one and only goat” thing at least P for P. Remember Jon Jones had 13 titles defences, Kabib had 3. They’re technically undefeated but Jon always had the tougher set of opponents, Kabib till he was 20-0 fought a bunch of nobodies. Kabib is one of the goats no doubt but I don’t ever see him being the one and only goat unless he defended the title another 15 times and remained undefeated.
@@shreedharshan8947 i said "he had the potential to be the one and only" bud lol learn to read first Joh had tougher opponents? Jon faced middleweights in LHW and he struggled when facing people his own size and let's not forget how khabib's opponents are still in the title contention while Jon's opponent aren't even fighting anymore So if u think I was exaggerating then u my guy have no idea
@@shreedharshan8947He might have defended his title multiple times, similar to Jones, if he had continued. The fact that he retired early and defended the title less doesn't necessarily make him a lesser fighter; it simply means he hasn't proven himself in that regard.
@@user-zg7cf4bs4v He fought 3 good guys, and every guy Jones fought was higher in the GOAT convo than dustin, justin, michael and barbosa. Jon Jones faced the stone cold killers Rampage, Shogun, Machida, Vitor, Gus, DC, santos, Bader and Gane. The guys you're calling MW's were undefeated in LHW for ex Lyoto machida. Khabib was cutting so much weight that he almost died several times and had to be hospitalised before the tony fight, he was a WW killing himself to make LW so he wouldn't need to fight legit wrestlers at WW like usman and colby
Dana is crazy dude when time he Roast fighter with pure talent and record and when they become famous he make them busyness. Everyone get what they deserve
Khabib fought 3 good guys and then just quit before ever facing any real pressure. Skills very good, but resume is seriously lacking. If you steamroll your weight division this easily you should move up in weight to prove yourself. Khabib took easy route, no goat.
Bro made Khabib go 9 W streak in UFC to fight for the belt eventhough he was the first fighter in UFC to represent Russia/Dagestan internationally meanwhile Michael chandler got Title shot after 1 fight in UFC.
Its just simpel reason Why its so diffcult for him to understand that for some people obey his mother and make her smile its more precious that all money in the world
The reason he has enough money that he doesn't have to work again, is because he doesn't spend his money on meaningless things like thousand dollar watches and whatnot. He's financially literate
Yeah if anyone made that much money you could really easily set yourself and your family up for most of your life if you're not a moron and get high of your earnings and just blow it all.
@@1gbayfisherthats an idiot guy thing all races do it, Russians are also notorious for it Khabib is an exception. DC is an example of humble black dude who doesnt throw his money around.
If he didn’t get injured he would have been the one facing Eddie but he had to sit out for 2 years and watch that opportunity pass by. Injuries happen and sometimes at the worst time but you could also look at it as if he got that title shot earlier, would he have been ready or could’ve been KO’d cold and never got to that Conor fight that propelled him to super-stardom
Dana put the nail on the coffin when he mentioned $$$$, Dana never understood that Khabib was in the game for the love of competition and respect for the sport.
Idk why you briefly showed Anthony Johnson he had so much more to give with that scary power at 205 then that disease cut him short after he came back briefly. RIP buddy we miss you
When he says that they have accomplished a lot, it means they made him good money, when he says he had left so much in him it means he could have cashed that cow much more...
I find this really funny 😂 Imagine Islam holding the belt, telling you, if he needs money, he will ask Khabib, which is true, these are real brothers. Happy for Khabibs retirement, truly perfect. Left on his own terms with a meaning. Respect brother ❤
His mother His father His word Unfortunately we can't comprehend the reality of these being more important than money. Words are cheap, unless you can keep your word
I just watched the UFC kind of documentary, and in the first episode Dana says "It's not about the money" like 10 times, but then you see all the interviews he does and always it's focused to the money
