Dana sang OMIT in the TV show *Love For Music* to honor Whitney who's one of her favorite singers. She made it such a sweet, enchanting and genuine version.
Yes, this is Dana Winner. Her real first name is Chantal. A very good singer from Belgium with an angels voice but sadly she is ridiculed, made fun of because she sings what they call "schlagers" ('levenslied' in Dutch, songs of life, a bit like cheesy country) and that is a genre that is commercial with songs usually thirteen in a dozen (like 'the sky is blue and I love you'). And that is too bad. Schlagers are a big thing here in 'de lage landen' ('the low lands', The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany). She used to play volleyball on a high level but left that to find a career in music. She is well known as a singer in Germany and South-Africa.
A most beautiful voice, and a beautiful lady, I love listening to her ❤ She helped me cry for the first time, after my husband died. I simply couldend cry, because I was so in shock and angry. Then I listend to a song of her on the radio, and it broke me.😢 Sorry for you but it's in Dutch It's called "Stil de storm" Make the storm go away in English.
One moment in Time par Whitney Houston ne m'a jamais mis les larmes aux yeux, touchée en plein coeur, comme le fait Dana Winner 😢💘 Ce que je ressens en l'écoutant est inexplicable... un moment de bonheur tellement intense 🙏 Friendly from south of France 🇨🇵
Her first single in 1990 was "Op het dak van de wereld". A cover from the Carpenters' hit, "Top of the world". She almost always sings in Dutch. Many good songs, like De oude man en de zee (the old man and the sea), Westenwind (cover of One way wind from the Cats) She is known for singing in Dutch, but she sang a lot in Germany and South-Africa too.
Wow, so cool that you do this from Dana Winner! She is a very sweet person, from Belgium. Been to a concert from her. I am curious about who was your idol when you was a teenager?
i think it's kind of like people stuttering, if they sing, they dont stutter either. I think it has to do with how wind goes through the vocal cords and maybe another part of it is used. Most of us that have an accent, its not regional based but more pronounciation, due to being a foreign language and not a regional accent but that disappears with singing if that makes sense. The reason most belgian/dutch singers sing in english is because we are taught more than one language and we have a huge influence from the uk and the us musicwise and tv wise. In Belgium, where Dana is from, we are taught french at an early age and english is the 3rd language taught in school but most of us already have a vocabulary behind us before being taught at school, also sometimes its a lot easier to express yourself in english than it is in dutch. In the netherlands i think english is the 2nd language they are taught.
She is from Belgium ,and its a cuver like alot of her new songs ,she had own songs 20 years ago that she singed in dutch ,1 of her newest ad least again bring out cover was this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eOUnAEhhn2g.html from simon and Garfunkel "sound of silence
This was really good. But will never surpass Whitney houston version Whitney - one moment in time at the grammys 1989 is the best vocal I've ever heard in my life
