I used to bring leftover meeting food to ravers waiting in lines. I knew that some of these kids had saved their $$ for a ticket and party favors and probably were going to party hungry. While I couldn't effectively coach them to not abuse drugs, I could feed them. Then they wouldn't crash and need help. I brought ~12 pizzas once and 2 grocery sacks of muffins b/c a seminar had leftovers and I snagged em. They were all good kids and gave me their trash and didn't leave a mess.
I'm now 56 and I kid you not, not one day goes by without my mind contemplating the good ole days of acid house way back in 87'. Must have had 30 hours a week sleep back then because I was partying, pirate radio and djing like it was going outta fashion ffs lol. The best time of my life ever. Nothing has come close since and nothing ever will as far as I'm concerned. There's two, only two factors of life that can make you happy.. Music and love. Without these you already dead. Now lemme squeeze you with an oldie that'll take you right back to my time.. Rhythim is Rhythim - It is What it is.. Transmat records 1988 see u on the dancefloor people 🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶
I'm 43 i was 9 in 1988, I would give anything to have Raved in 88 to 93. Blessed to be a 90s Raver, but i know i'd missed the boat. Man you are So lucky you guys !! Mad love to you all. No Skool like the old Skool.Rave On !!
Guys, I just wanna say this rave spirit still exists! Experienced in 2020, east Germany, don't know how it looks in other parts of the world... Look for the right raves, in the right places. Cheers and keep ravin!
Look at how much aggression they threw at us that shows you it scared the shit out of their machine. I can't believe our generation has allowed them to implement what is now happening.
I just wanna say, I'm 21 and I've danced at all sort of modern legal "raves" that just dont seem to beat the authenticity of this, illegal ones in London just get shut down straight away. I just wanna say if you were lucky enough to attend these be thankful! Nowadays everyone just drinks alchohol to numb the pain, everyone cares so much what people think and appearance is everything, people dont dance to let go anymore. We need to free the people and go back to these raves.
@@tomrobinson2914 I know, worked in bars for about 5 years and have seen the worst sides of people. Md changed my world, opened my heart and my outlook on life. Made me see the good in everyone, how life should be.
I was slightly too young to attend the raves in the real peak period, but I am forever looking for music from the time, I can't describe the feeling it gives you to this day!
I'm 50 now, and don't take any drugs or even drink. But, I still DJ 1990-1993 oldskool 'ardcore every week, because the music is amazing with or without drugs.
One club me and my two pals went in, which was hitting the early 90s music, was the only club that was jam packed, I wonder why? ah yeah that was down to the music been amazing along with the atmosphere.
Used to rave in my student days in Cambridge without even alcohol let alone Class A’s as we were too poor...the music was enough for my best friend and me!
@Cicada 3301 I remember one night me and my pals got a few sandwiches each from a guy we saw on a street corner, he looked a bit dodgy but sound enough. turns out him or maybe the guy he buys from had made ours with margarine and not butter as we had been led to believe (we had asked of course, we where young but knew the score) Anyway, long story short we all got sore stomachs and Edmund ended up in hospital, his mum went mental.
I never at that came across a polite sweet , pickle & cheese eating girl raver.. 🤔 This wasn't a student type scene, it was something for the drop outs and naughty ones
I`m 41 - in Switzerland we`re experiencing a resurgence of high quality Techno & Oldschool style DJ-ing. The people from back in the day (whom survived) - all of us respecting one another and teaching the young ones of today, by good example😉 ..... It`s Awesome🥰_🤩 .. Just the other day i said to one of my DJ friends - we`re so fortunate to be blessed with this resurrection. It lays upon Us - DJ`s, Musicians, Artists & Guests to bring into being, that which we love.. ..20/20 Vision.. 🧐 ..🤣
@Tony Coleman Thx Tony. Yes indeed, are we living in trying Times. The week will wither away - & "Societies" shall crumble..,. Stay strong - NEVER give up. ..✌️ 💪 💖.. ....👀 👂 🧠....
Went to my first illegal Rave in 1987 and it was a magical period; almost seemed as if a new genre of music was being invented every week. I remain in touch with many of the friends I made during that time and whilst the E was a social lubricant, the empathy and kindness inherent to people back then coupled with the amazing music was the true driver of it. Also, no social media back then either. FB/Instagram etc. has ushered in a wariness to personal behaviour that simply didn't exist in those days. Good times, high times...and I don't regret a single moment of it. I am 54 in July. And if you're young then get the party started once we're over this appalling pandemic - we're relying on you all! :)
A unique era in time when youths gathering en mass when nobody had any animosity and just wanted to dance. I used to stop and just soak up the buzz of watching a thousand happy people creating the strongest euphoric atmosphere you can imagine. I was blessed with funky bones so I had a scream of a time.
I'm not very good looking and I'm not very clever but none of that mattered when your were there and I'm so glad I was as it was the best days of my life x
Exactly what brownbeard said! t’s not about that shit! The experiences is what it’s about! We all have different skills and the world wouldn’t be as good without us all being different. Definitely don’t need any more models or suits that’s for sure ;)
glad u had a good time but like other comments said dont need to say things like that every1 is good looking in their own way and clever in their own way stay positive m8
I remember straight out of Uni and starting out at the Daily Telegraph in London around "88 on the career circuit and noticing this cockney lad delivering the mail around the office at South Quay with his late Beatles mop top and baggy clothes. Curious, I asked him what he was into and he was telling me about these raves and how you had to go to motorway service stations to find out about them ...sooner than you could say "popper" I was out on "walkabout" each weekend. Then around 89/90 I was sitting spaced out in my office chair and saw him pushing his internal mail cart (this was all before internet), hair trimmed nicely and looking smart as an arse. "What happened?" I asked him. "The scene got to big , too many normal's on it now, I cant be bothered:" he said. Coolest fella I ever met.
FOR US. BY US. It was ours. We rocked. We rolled. E's and whizz. Throw in a bit of acid and boom. This is all a bit elementary party people. If you lived through the raving 90's you were truly blessed. You would look forward to EVERY single weekend. No aggro. The music was fucking amazing. Nuff said
@@doughroasterbushcraftandsu3947 And nibheads with white gloves green sticks and bald heads with ni top on bunch of gobshite just so it for the sake of taking drugs no sub ulture no fashion style of dress just druggys whe most likely turned into smack crack pipes nothing at all to do withe rebelling and the vult status of Chicago Houae & Detroit's Techno leading to Northern Acid House Hacienda Acid Head - Revolutionarys.. .
Voodoo Ray & Acieeed! Two of loadsa outstanding tracks, from the original rave generation. I'm lucky enough to have been there, soaked up the vibes, danced till whenever & bought the vinyl's. Whenever I play those acid tracks now, I'm convinced they would still mash up the clubs/parties!
Voodooray ...... remember hitting Brighton clubs when that came on. Acid house, driving around the m25. 18/19 years old. Brilliant times. We had Big Black Cox & Fat Boy.
The government acted on pressure from the breweries to limit the popularity of acid house especially the free/ illegal stuff. No one was drinking much early on in the scene and the breweries who had previously had a near monopoly on lower class pleasure seeking were starting to notice the lack of money at the bar. Beer took the edge off, water was all you needed. It was only when we got pushed back into the clubs and bars thanks to the "you're not free to party act" that you started to see more people on e and a skin full of beer. Me included.
Its probably more about control and fear of losing control.. then lack of customers for beer. Since i think the decline of alcohol consumption..if at all was marginal. There where still.more than enough alcohol consumers.
I loved the rave culture. Zero violence 100% love. The only time the big rave clubs got attitude was when the pubs closed and the pissheads show up around midnight.
I can say without a doubt that DMT's formula was given to us by the Annunaki to the Egyptians. The book of Thoth is that formula (DMT), the Egyptian buildings and the peculiar way they painted them is an obvious sign that they had DMT's formula and had been using it for a long time to keep the connection between the Kings who ruled Egypt and the "Gods" (or creators) for guidance and for our own personal limitless evolution. The Annunaki came to earth to save their planet and in the process of ensuring their survival we were created. They decided to give us their Genetic Information, technology, structures and sacred teachings so that we become our best versions and reach a "Higher Awareness State" just like them so that we can aid them with their planet (Nibiru) and serve our purpose here on earth. They had their personal reasons for creating us but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be grateful. I personally think that everyone should take DMT and Ayahuasca before they die, but always have in mind that what you are going to go through will only last 15 minutes on DMT and a lot more time on Ayahuasca, DMT opens a world of visuals and sounds that we've never seen or heard before and that we never would have thought they were even possible. Sounds may come in forms and forms may come in sounds. DMT is related to The Book Of Thoth. The Egyptians called the Pineal Gland "The 3rd Eye" and the 3rd Eye "The Seat Of The Soul" we can only access the Book of Thoth in the Astral world, we access the Astral world through Laser focused meditation and we receive guidance through synchronicity, emotions, voices and visuals once we are in the "Astral", this is because our Pineal Gland produces DMT naturally and the DMT amount we produce increases drastically giving us the ability to "Perceive" much more than the physical realm when we meditate. When you do DMT it doesn't matter if you don't know how to meditate because DMT guides you to the meditative state even if you are trying to avoid it by not paying attention .The smoked DMT takes approx 10 seconds to kick in and when it does you enter a trance state so powerful that whatever image you have in front of you disappears and you are suddenly transported to another "Dimension" where you will understand this Ancient Knowledge. The interesting thing about DMT is that the "Trip" is not always the same, there are endless trip possibilities and there is no limit to what you can perceive, the more DMT smoke you hold in for a long time (10 secs) will determine how strong your trip is going to be. I knew about DMT and Psychedelics long before I tried them, but I always thought that it was impossible to connect with beings that are from a reality different than ours until I tried DMT for the first time. Just keep in mind that what we perceive in meditation is a lot of DMT being released naturally from your pineal gland, when we smoke DMT those effects are increased on a ridiculous level giving you access to your "6th Sense". No one has ever died consuming DMT and just like cannabis DMT doesn't have any "cancerous cell activation" risks. Smoking DMT is said to be the most extreme experience a human being can go through so be warned and proceed with caution. Peace, Love and Abundance for the readers🍄
I have a drugged smiley face with wobbly mouth and tongue out on my calf.. With the words aciiiieeed man around it and bubbles around the head.. I had it done one Sunday when I was around 17 I think.. I'm glad I was there for warehouse party's... Which later led to raves in 90-94 for me.. Good happy times and my head still intact... Just. Lol
These times are the best mankind can ever produce. The wonderful people, the love and most of all the music. I’ll always be blessed with these times. To all the ravers one 💕 love peace and sweet harmony.
Nothing like taking ecstasy and having a completely mind blowing experience not even because of the music but because of how soft your hair feels, you’re in awe and have a complete conversation with it telling it how you love it and how soft and beautiful it is it’s an affair with your hair😂
From the days when everyone together felt as one ... Shame the government couldnt handle people not buying lager and enjoying themselves instead .. Peace and love to all..x
'And there was another souvenir brought back by holidaying Brits' Plays tune made in a flat in Hulme Crescents. I was in the room when Gerald made the tune. The only time he'd seen Eye-Beetha was a poster in the window of Thomas Cook.
Using E in relationship counselling? Lol, could you imagine? So, derek, now we have heard what gemma has said. Do you have any thoughts? Fn HAVE IT!!! I love you both so, so much. *sweaty hug*
We went to see the shamen like I think it was 1990 in treforest polytechnic it was called synergy they made this crap room into a trip projections everywhere seamless between a dj and live set I was completely straight as I was pregnant but it was art the whole thing never saw anything like that again this bass frequency nearly knocked me flying . I’ll maintain this view for the rest of my life I lived for party drugs as soon as it was possible but that great feeling when you just dance and dance without giving a fuck bout what people think that amazing feeling I also had in the junior discos with my mates dancing till we were soaking with sweat to bad manners and Dexys all of us hugging each other haaa we were 10 I guess the pills just allowed that same thing really
I never got the chance to do a race. There wasnt such things available to us. It looked like alot of fun. I did have a blast in the 90's. Great time to be alive.
Youth is not wasted on the young, its to be experienced by them ,the dance era towards the last ywars of the 90s was theend of this. Im glad i had mine in the 90s. Its stolen from the young now.
A moment in time where it didn't matter who you were or what you did.... We just danced with who whoever and made great friends. For a time we were aligned. A generation worked it out through music and socialising. We can use those stories and experiences to our share with our children. Peace out and thank you 🤞
I used to take Bubble Rings💍💍that opened at the top to reveal the wand thing you blow the bubbles through. Used to get them in Tesco 10 for a quid from the kids party decoration aisle. They were great for stashing a few personals as well💊💊🚬. People loved them & it was a tiny part of a very big thing, great times❤. Never got any grapes though, that is quality👍😎🇬🇧
You could be two enemy’s and then bump into each other at a rave whilst under the influence and become best friends at the end of the night, hugging and everything haha 😂
One of the purpose was to get in the groove and through dancing, the sound, the beat and the vibes to reach an estatic state of trance and that was feasible without taking any drug.
Don't cry, celebrate the fact we were in the place and avin' it!! I'm 51 now and feel blessed that I saw Punk,Ska,New Wave and the whole Electronica scene, what a time to be alive!x
I remember going out raving in the late 90s but always felt gutted i had missed out on the Acid House partys..... but looking back now to the 90s they were also awesome!! especially 97/98 drum & Bass and techno it blew my mind :-)
I never did the "illegal raves" i was born in '82 so maybe 7ish years too young! I did catch the tail end with the hard house/trance clubs in '99 with Gods Kitchen, Crasher, Insomniacs, Passion and my hometowns club (progress in Derby) good times. Only problem is I did that many pills I have suffered with severe mental health problems from the early 00's to this day!
I just turned 50 and I caught the end of real MDMA in 88-89. I was a competitive gymnast and had no interest in drugs. However, my best friend talked me into trying ecstasy. I could go on all day about how incredible that first time was and all the times later throughout 1989. It wasn’t all good though. While you really couldn’t get addicted to it like other drugs it still jacked up your body. I lost a ton of weight over the summer of 89 and at the end of it I’d had enough. That said, some of those nights taking it with a bunch of friends, doing stupid shit because EVERYTHING felt amazing and everyone was in the best moods of their life and best friends lol was something I don’t regret. Add to that the music and the clubs playing crazy awesome acid house bands like Lords of Acid or DJ’s making it up live at Club A in Dallas. I’ve thought about it over the years but know it would never feel the same. Even if it was the exact same real MDMA. At 17-18 I had no real responsibilities and I had no concern about fixing whatever problems taking EX brought about. Ex can’t overcome 30 years of living. Lastly I’ll say that while I don’t regret taking it, it would have been better if I hadn’t.
Only the BBC could chose a really posh bird as their guest to talk about being a raver. Cheese and pickle sandwiches, oh go away. NO ONE took sandwiches to a rave FFS
Fucking sandwiches, wouldve been soaking wet dripping all over her keks if she'd really be avin it🤣🤩 My clothes and shoes would be utterly fucked every wkd, besta times guys🤡
this complete thing was an ''over-reaction'' wasn't necessary at all ... the government didn't get any money from it , so they shut it down that's been about the only point of it .
It was amazing mate I know all about it but I’m scared to tell my kids about it man it was my time and a bit to risky these day but the best time of my life I’m in a band that plays 60s music know and it’s rocking
Dave Cook you can't tell anyone about it and have them understand. It's more than just the music it's that place in time and space where the music escalates to that high point and you look over to your friends and see the joy glaring back at you and for that moment the emotion is so great you feel that your brain can't take it. You can't ever describe that to anyone who wasn't there. I live a very different life now but those experiences (92 to 97)helped make me what I am, they change you. So in a way the effects of those days never really ended.
Dave Cook I’m 32 and wish I was at these raves were everything and everyone was chill and having a fucking good time now it’s just we fannys in town at clubs think there big men and woman it’s little children lol
My Big Bro was one of Australia's first Techno DJ's , ,DJ Dave Delirious R.I.P, When the Prodigy toured here they chose Dave to tour with them as an opening act, I do remember he made me a tape it had the track on this clip that starts at 4:30
Happy days....Es Wiz Acid Poppers weed...I took the lot (sometimes on the same night) I couldn’t get enough....Shout out to all the clubbers from back in the day......👍😜😎
I remember being at a rave back in the day and had a girl tell me the best feeling in the world was to rub the back of my head against a wall in a chill out room. Been hunting for a wall like that ever since lol. This video brought back fun memories.
It's so interesting if you trace back this rave phenomena through the generations and how/why it's shaped. Every generation, especially those that came after rough economic times or war reacted this way, the most genuine and effective were the swinging children of the 20s and the 60s, the 90s came a bit closer.
I seen a lad at the sanctuary once that had so much steam coming from all over the top half of his body and his head that he looked like a human kettle! Never forget that lol
