Instant Gratification is such an amazing album, bought it at their show a couple days ago & they NEVER disappoint. Been listening to this band since '07 and with the different vocalists over the years and they're just as amazing as ever. This band has a special place in my heart, they will forever be my favorite band. It's so hard for a band to change their sound in every album while still keeping that vibe or familiarity where you know it's DGD and they successfully do that. Love them.
I too, have been listening to Dgd since 07, found me on myspace back then and was instantly drawn in by Jonny's vocals, and swans guitar... BUT Tilian is the best vocalist they've had, instant gratification, in my opinion is their best CD they've released. I wasn't a huge fan of acceptance speech, and I think that's because they band hadn't really got a feel for tilian, and some songs felt forced and out of place, but there isn't one song on Instant Gratification that I don't like.
gabyy08 Word. Their approach to music is so consistent but without getting stale or monotonous. That's such a difficult thing to do after a decade of being a band. Instant Gratification is so damn perfect.
For those commenting that Kurt was on the self titled and Happiness: The interviewer is referring to vocal duos. Other than the first two albums (Jonny Craig & Jon Mess), DGD hadn't had the same vocal duo for two consecutive albums until now. Jon did the unclean vocals on the self-titled, then Will did them for Happiness, which is why that doesn't count.
imagine being in the audience when they played On the Run for the first time? This is when they started playing to clicks live so the timing and shit with that breakdown must have been magic hearing that the first time.
Matt Stark the song Awkward is a song on Instant Gratification, the album credits Zachary Garren as having played guitar on that track. i was hoping that they wrote the song together, because they wrote at least most of Deathstar and Happiness together (if not all) but Will says in this video that all of the guest guitarists just learned their parts from will and just played on the recording. i was just inferring
Zac did write his part. Will said that they wrote the instrumental and then sent the songs to Aric and Zac to write their parts on. It is kinda a bummer tho cuz if Will and Zac collabed again, DGD fans everywhere would go insane.
