Michael Greyeyes is adorable in this whole movie. He shows toughness, friendship, tenderness, and he has the steamiest love scene! He's a superb actor!
I love how natives believe that their hair represents their spirit. The longer their hair is the stronger their spirit. Its just soooo magical. We cant appreciate them enough. Theyre extroadinary people xx
"I live where the land meets the sky, where the eagle and raven fly free, i live under the sun and moon" genius line i know I'll be definitely using it haha.
Absolutely love this scene! Frank making an awesome smart comment about his address lol. And to top it off Gooch let’s the cops have it! Couldn’t stop laugh with him throwing them into the walls and over the counters. Wish we could all do that once in our lives.
I was living in Parry Sound Ontario when this film was made. Most of it was filmed on Parry Sound Island. Thecast was mostly Indians from that reserve which a very good thing for them. I saw small part being filmed outside the Court House which is where this was filmed..The film was first released in Parry Sound so this is the only film I saw within hours of its release.. An interesting film.
you're so very lucky ;really wish iwas there;first. time. i watched the. movie.it has been my dream. for a very. long. time ti go see where. they filmed it. Especially really. liked the wster fall. se
Here comes the young Michael Greyeyes...He looks less buffed than he was in Crazy Horse and Stolen Women, Capture Hearts... I've always wanted to see this movie but having a hard time finding it here in CA. It looks like a funny movie, thank you so much for posting! Although it's short but I enjoyed it very much.
The painting is a portrait of a Sioux Chief in full regalia. My Great Grandfather "commissioned" the painting for three deer hides and two venison carcasses. The painting was painted on one of the hides. After it was finished, it hung unframed for forty years in Great Grandfather's trader's cabin....
I believe you reply is pure and I agree with you, looks are not all that you should search for , you want to really love them your men and take care of them, and make them your life, I appreciate you sticking up for your heritage, and men! Sincerely Yours
Ryan rajendra black has the most beautiful smile i have ever seen! Adam beach is really cute too and funny in this movie! and Michael Greyeyes is just (for me ) the most good looking native american actor i have seen son far (but I only Know 10-12 native american actors)! And I don't Know if you have seen "stolen women, captured hearts" but he is even more gorgeous !we often say That the eyes are the reflection of your soul son, i guess he has a beautiful one!
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Mija, my Great Grandfather and Grandfather on my mother's side were Indian traders in Northern Minnesota. I have a painting by a Native American artist from those days
Lesson on what to do if you get arrested. The car scene, what a line: "Do you think women are thinkin' something?" Haha! Susana, I live at that same address too, we must all be neighbours :-)
one. time i got caught. smoking. weed. in the park. in chilliwack. B.C. ; the lady cop asked. me for my id. then she asked me what my name was ;i told her, you have my id ,don't you know how to read
The movie was directed by Bruce MacDonald and Executive Producer was Norman Jewison. BTW the cops in the movie were actually crew members. To learn more Google " Internet Movie Database. Once there search "Dance Me Outside" . Thanks for watching. I have one other clip if you visit my site.
I have always been curious as to why the producers of this movie felt that they had to change the setting of the movie from Hobbema, AB to Ontario and to change the names of some of the characters that were so wonderfully portrayed in Mr. Kinsella's books . Don;t get me wrong, I loved the movie, but if anyone hasn't read these books, do yourself a favor and do so.
I see it is available at the Amazon if you cannot find it at your local video store. Good luck. BTW I would post the link here, but RU-vid doesn't seem to allow that. Check your mailbox. I'll try that!
@nativemama218 - oh yea he was good in Squanto as well. And the Native beating up the cops in the police station was in a movie a few years ago that was a super nova IMO but I can't remember the name of the movie.
I am not indigenous nor is my son but my son has always believed his hair is his spirit and has always been very important to him. I've never cut his hair and he's never wanted it cut. He's always said since he was really little "My hair represents strength and dignity. " He's eight now and his hair is down to his butt.
@SatannicaHelvete Woah there, cool your jets! I'm of Viking decent too but it ain't the 11th century anymore, I have long hair but I sometimes like to have short hair in the summer!
I have always been a big fan and supporter of Native Americans. It pains me that so few of them have made it as actors, since we know there are talented actors among them. But they most often get bit parts, either as "nice Indians" or "bad Indians". Thats so wrong.
I love the part where they all plain to kill that guy and Adam is like we Will allmeet back here at 7 AM every one just looks at him 7? Adam was ok then 7:30 lol that made me laugh so hard I watched this movie lastnight on aptn
this looks like a good movie gosh those native kids look so sweet i mean, their demeanor is so sweet-natured even when being booked by these silly cops (those cops were kind of goofy acting) well, except for Michael Greyeyes... he got all kung fu who made the movie? is it Native produced and directed? i see there's more to watch... cool
The painting hung in the cabin because the wife of the Indian Trader, Great Grandmother Oaks, was in the 1861 Sioux uprising in Minnesota. She was so full of hate from that experience that all things Native American were evil; it didn't matter to her that the chief had stopped the killing, the reason Great Grandfather commissioned the painting in the first place....
