When all of this fraud was going on, Maddie's mother was Abby's office manager. Melissa HAD TO KNOW that Abby had "stolen" almost a million dollars from the government, and yet she did not inform the authorities, which is in it's self a serious crime. Melissa had to have been an accomplice to dozens of felonious acts, making her almost as guilty as Abby. If she fully "rats out" on Abby (in court tells the jury about the dozens and dozens of times she witnessed Abby stealing) Melissa should be able to only go on probation and not go to prison.
At the end of last season Abby was just frantic with anxiety. She provable knew how much trouble she was in. When your case is being investigated by a federal attorney, and the FBI you are done-zo. One of the stars from the TV show "House Wives of New Jersey" was found guilty of the exact same thing. She is in prison now.

So, she might have known that Abby was getting paid but she wouldn't have had to falsify any documents the way Abby's accountant would've. Am I saying that she didn't know and she's innocent - NO. Chances are super high that Melissa knew EXACTLY what Abby was doing. All I'm saying is that Melissa stopped working the front desk after Season 1 though, so there's no proof that she helped Abby break any laws. Therefore, theoretically, she shouldn't be in any legal trouble the way Abby is.

In fact, I remember about 18 months ago reading a comment written on the Dance Moms Facebook page of a grandmother of a previous student saying that Abby stole money from the parent's fund (this was before Dance Moms was even made). The description of what happened from this grandmother was so informative, I found it to most likely be true.
Melissa, Maddie's mom, is just as guilty as Abby Lee Miller. The only way Melissa could skip jail time is "ratting out" Abby. On Dance Moms, she would never "rat out" Abby on any lie Abby told the Moms. But, I think Melissa and Abby will lose there friendship over this. There's no way Melissa's going to jail.

+Ellas Edits. They're currently filming S6 and Abby is due in Court in November, but these proceedings take a long time. So, it's entirely possible they will be done filming S6 before a verdict is reached. However, this is definitely looking like the last season if she gets sentenced to 5 years of prison for EACH separate Indictment. That would be a 100 year sentence (20 indictments x 5 years each), aka she'd be in prison for the rest of her life. This is actually super serious.
Wow! Ah that's good, let's just hope that whatever happens, Abby doesn't drag the girls down with her! Of course 5 years for each indictment would be super serious! However, just being her students and being associated with her name might make people look at them differently. Hopefully though this scandal won't reflect negatively on the girls' careers.

That's true. Melisa was her office manager for the three years Abby hid the $775,000 It is hard to believe Melissa wasn't aware, which makes her an accessory after the fact. So maybe they could share a cell. ??????

It would be super if Malissa wasn't involved.The TV keeps showing part of a letter to her accountant (and a friend) saying "Put no cash in the bank" So God help her accountant and any friends she was sharing incriminating information with.
