I have watched a dozen dancers react to this and they kind of be nit picky about some things (which is a given) but I really appreciate how you admitted this is not easy and it’s easy for them to miss a spot cus there’s like 40 transitions in this routine without rest time. So thank you for pointing that out. This routine was actually for both video shoot and tour stage. They also rehearse a lot and around this time that they had to do this, they also had other schedules so it’s a given that it won’t be perfect but they still did their best. EXO always do their best.
This choreo is used in a MV, but it is also the stage choreo. Exo stages are famous for their performance level being off the chart. You mentioned the bulky hoodie. Kpop groups often practice in heavy clothes, especially when performances are close, because their stage costumes are often heavy so they want to get used to it. It's like singing while jogging, which they also do, to get their physical and vocal stamina up. One of the awesome things I find about the transitions in this is how often they are moving backward whilst in close formation with utter trust that whomever was standing there a second ago has moved. They do work very hard. Many choreographers especially point out their main dancer Kai as being one of the most hard working, dedicated dancers in the business.

This choreography is difficult because of all those transitions. They change position so many times. My favorite is when D.O. uses his super power. That was so brilliant. Shout out to the choreographer for including that into the dance

The transitions just didn't stop... Energizer bunny ain't got nothin' on them. Favorite parts 3:00 the force in cross X movement, 4:04 has a marionette feel, 6:44 diagonal, 10:33 Z pattern. I'm tired just from watching them and they have to do this and sing Live... SMH. EXO is pronounced EX-O... 'Ex', when you break up with your partner and 'Oh' when your friends find out. Great reaction... the honesty is appreciated cause this choreography was sick.
It's pronounced 'EXO' not E.X.O. They are wrapping up their mandatory military service soon so they might be making a comeback hopefully in 2023. The transitions and formations are tricky here, it's one of the first times seeing the floor marked up so much. They definitely needed it to help guide them to the right spots.
this is both for an mv & tour. this is a song from their 1st Japanese album. you'll see a short version of the mv & a snippet of the choreo there. but they performed this i think on their Elyxion tour if i'm not mistaken.
I really like your in depth comments. Steps I never would have noticed (not being a dancer) are now so enjoyable. About four years ago, I started following EXO. I was so amazed with the choreography. They were backing up while dancing, doing circles and dance steps and coming out in a new formation. All the while singing and holding their mics! I’m sure I don’t appreciate their choreography as much as someone who dances and knows how difficult the steps are. I just know it’s breathtaking and wonderful. I will for sure check out your reactions of EXO.
Really a great choreography. When this song came out we did this choreo in our dance group. It was hella difficult because there is, I believe, only one part that repeats. Everythingelse is always new. A ton of formations to remember. I think this is only topped by EXO Blooming days 😆

#facts. This reminds of D.O when he sprained his ankle during the beginning of their Growl/Mama performance when getting off the chair and still endured the pain in order to complete the whole performance 😳 His members had no idea he was injured during the routine and he fainted afterwards 😢
Of course they have a good ear, they are all vocals 😊 About formation transition, I bet you would have bumped to each other, it's hard to reach your next spot and paying attention that you won't collied with the others !! I remember in 2013 when they were still 12 members, they were in a TV show and were challenged to dance on parts of Wolf very spontaneous, and the tree formation was a mess 🤣
