If the choreo calls for it, Kai can dance stiffly or gracefully. He can dance to almost all genre be it jazz, ballet, contemporary, traditional, pop, latin etc. When you watch his solo performance I See You, you can see that he's the most versatile dancer in kpop. No wonder he's the idols'idol, being look up to by so many idols and idol wannabees. His adorable personality is a bonus point.
He's sooooo good, but completely lacking in groove. Just compare him to the dancer on the left at 0:38-0:44. That guy has groove and looks amazing, my eye is drawn to him way more than to Kai. There's a ton of advantages of having great technique and charisma and all of that, but I find myself being bored watching him dance next to other people who might not be as skilled but have the groove to draw my attention. I know it can be a personal preference, and I'm not by any means saying Kai is bad (very much the opposite!), it's just striking how little groove he has. I would put a lot of other idol dancers above him purely for that (if they're as or nearly as skilled).
@Kahli21 Team Kai includes top-notch dancers like Jrick and Bada Lee who are well-known choreographers themselves. Some were hand-picked by Kai himself. His dancers have to be high caliber dancers for obvious reasons. However, I barely noticed the guy you mentioned lol my eyes were glued on how precised, well-balanced and how impactful Kai delivers. His dancers enhance Kai's visual aesthetics nonetheless. For me, no one matches his body line, facial expressions and how he interprets his songs through his incredible performance.
@@Kahli21 his background leans more towards contemporary and ballet, not street dance. "groove" is expressed differently in contemporary and ballet vs street
@@Kahli21LOL I watched Bada and Mihawk doing the rover dance alone and i immediately felt something lacking and too much at the same time, mind you they are pro dancers and the choreographers too. But I'm so used to Kai's version.
Kai, a generational performer who chose to create his own path in dancing! I remember back in 2013-2014 when all the main dancers of different k-pop boy groups specialized in hip-hop, b-boy, pop & lock, and other dance styles that were mostly considered “strong” and/or “hard,” Kai shocked everyone with his route in contemporary dance. EVERYONE remembers his iconic performance as the intro to their title track Overdose. He really popularized that soft and fluid dance style in k-pop. A transcendent icon in the field of dance in k-pop.
SM feeds their idols dancing juice lmao, Ten, Taemin, Taeyong, Kai, Seulgi, etc! I would love to see more content reacting to Seventeen, cuz their dance is insane!
More Kai reactions?!seriously, you're asking?!OF COURSE!🤣🤣🤣 I like how you pointed his stiffness...one thing about Kai is that when you've seen him dancing a few times the same choreography, you can put him in the middle of a dance crew with a hat and a mask...and you'll be able to recognize him...when you know his style of dancing you can recognize him even with something you've never seen him dance...he has this unique powerful and visual dancing that i admire sooo much!❤
Oh my boy Kai is the best. More of him please. As a dancer, I know how he makes these not so easy dances look easy buy it really takes a lot. Thank you. Watching him dance with so much joy makes me super happy
I didn't request it, but WOWOW I was wondering why this didn't happen before, I love Kai so much he's one of my favorites dancer on Kpop so far. The way he perform is just another level, the aura, the presence and the neat their moves are ... and also enjoying all at the same time 🫠... dancer EXO L happy here. Bada Lee made a good research on this choreo and all the amazing choreographers that mash up this amazing dance, Rover is sooo addictive. Just waiting patiently for Kai comeback from the army.
This is how I know it's just proven that he knows how to frame his body perfectly while dancing and maximizes on his body control. I've been waiting for you to get to Kai, the Idols Idol. The dancing god that idols were lining up to do the Rover Challenge with. I would loooooove to see more Kai because there's so much versatility to his dance style. FILM : KAI 1 & 2, I See You performance, Reason dance practice, & Peaches dance practice I think are going to give you just a good review of the dance styles he brings to the table. This man has literally sacrificed his body for his love of dance ( back surgery, broken ankle twice, amongst over injuries ) and that unyielding passion just comes through. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Kai gives me that "New Skool Dancehall" vibe i.e. strong and smoothe. The moves are really powerful and his posture carries it well. I like that subtle but effective pelvic move with the rover, rover ...rover. The ending is " fyah". Fi real, Kai absolutely "shell dis dung"(slayed). Thank you for reacting to Kaii. One love.
The stiffness is really interesting to point out as a strength!! it's something I've noticed in dance in general especially in contrast to dancers with a looser feel but didn't have the vocabulary for it or was able to recognise it as a distinct strength. I struggle with making clear pictures/lines so maybe it's something I should try. Would love to see more reactions to seventeen/hoshi (thanks, falling flower, home; run, spider) and Birthday by Ten!!!
More Kai reaction? Ofc! Please react to Kai 'Mmmh' dance practice first, maybe 'Film:Kai' as well. This was from his first solo debut track. 'Mmmh' choreographer is MihawkBack from 1 Million/ Street Man Fighter. The crew/dancer team was also personaly picked by Kai himself while preparing this project. It was a huge deal for Kai since it was his first ever debut.
kai mixes a lot of fluid moves with his stiff/sharp moves actually. he is also trained in ballet so maybe an intentional choice? It would be interesting for you to check his other solos and compare them!! loved this
I was waiting for your reaction to KAI ! Thank you so much! Please do more. And I really like all of your K-Pop reactions and your videos. Keep going! 😊
Kai is the idols of idols because he is EXO dancing machine. He has a sexy tone of voice to back it up too. We wish him well while enlisted and hope that he comes back stronger. Please continue to support Exist album because we know how much this album matters to him as well. Take care everyone, saranghajaaaa!!!
Really interested in this thing you mentioned about "using stiffness". I kind of understand but I would love to have a small video on it or something to explain more because I don't think a lot of people talk about it 😁
thank you for the education in here! i love learning things in p much all of the videos released, and i love the commitment to recognizing all styles of dance from all over the world and honoring their creators and origins!
Would I call it stiffness? I would say a better word is control. He is excellent at controlling every inch of his body and delivering any kinds of dance. Throughout the 11 years of his career he demonstrated all kinds of skills and styles of dancing. The controlled movements that he is doing for Rover is suitable for his solo song so he delivers the right feel to match the song vibes. But, if you look into his solo stages at concerts and in Peaches and such you'll see him using his body in different ways. So, I hope the reactors do more background search on dancers before they comment on them thank you. Also, please check out Domino, Mmmh, I see you stages please
From a dancer perspective, Kai has phenomenal dance technical skills and creativity at the same time he seems very down-to-earth, sweet and funny during interviews/reality shows. When I watch his flexibility and range of motion, movement coordination , body alignment and posture, and rhythm during dance practices, music mv and exo music mv , I can see Kai has had jazz and ballet training. His dance skills and vocal skills are inspirational. If there were two wishes that could become a reality, first, we would perform together dance choreography mashup. Dance Choreography Mashup would be Argentinian Tango and Jazz. 2nd wish would be acting together in a movie or television series scene dancing the Argentinian Tango.
Loved to see this, Kai definitely has a distinctive style. I’d love to see reactions to Ten - Birthday and Hoshi - Spider dance practices, two amazing versatile dancers. It would also be fab to have Bailey Sok talking through some of her brilliant k-pop choreo!
Kai is really talented when it comes to dance. i highly recommend watching his friend, Taemin and his recent dances! they’re truly something to witness
He did do Taemin danger and Shinee view, but yesss I hope they see more Taemin choreo, especially newer ones since Danger and View both came out almost a decade ago!
@@maggot2259 Why do you bring Taemin to the surface when it comes to Kai? It's so annoying. His dances are too erotic, the movements are monotonous. Today, Kai is the best dance performer in K-Pop.
@justviewer3677 OK, I didn't ask who's a better dancer, I just wanted to see some Taemin vids AND more kai vid. In other comments, I mention both or just Kai. Their friends, not everything is a competition 🙄. And wdym his dance is too erotic, what does that have to do with anything?
@@maggot2259 You see, Taemin's fans are very persistent in inserting their comments on Kai's videos. I don't think Kai fans do that. If they are reprimanded, they always refer to the friendship between them. Their dance is too different to compare or say they are the same.
@justviewer3677 THEY DO, I sometimes see people mention Kai in Taemin vids and nothing wrong with that, and why are u saying it's just Taemin fans or Kai fans, I'm a fan of BOTH, some of those fans can like both idols, not everyone is a solo stan like u. And I mention their friendship because that's how i connect them, I associate them thru their friendship and SuperM, like how because talk about Jimin in Taemin vids because their friends AND because they're really good dancers(Kai included) and the reactor might like their vids too
