Taemin only commands the best in back-up dancers. They are an extension of him, and he ALWAYS acknowledges them during his concerts, giving them solo spots and introducing each one to the audience. In addition, each one is either a professional dancer and/or choreographer in their own right. The two crews (Korean and Japanese) are also great friends with him. While both crews are exceptional, the one for this DP is his Japanese crew, and they are on another level. The live performance of this at one of his concerts is awesome. He vibrates even harder, as he tends to embellish his choreo, provide even more details, and gets much more intense when performing live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yL7Sh4REC5k.html
Although "Famous" doesn't sound like it on the surface, if you read the English translation of the lyrics, you see it's actually kind of a sad song. Taemin isn't being cocky, he's being sarcastic and maybe a little facetious. The song is about how he has sort of lost his true self and no longer knows who he really is after becoming so famous. He talks about how living in the public eye all the time, he feels like he is always being watched and he can no longer live a normal life, etc. I interpret the ticking movements, for example, to be a representation of the fear and anxiety he feels with the fact that he always has to keep up a public image and the pressure he feels to be perfect. I think in the MV we see him bleeding because it's showing how he is literally putting everything he has into his career, but he feels, metaphorically, like people aren't satisfied unless they see him shed blood, sweat and tears. He feels like he can never live up to the public's expectations of him and that no matter what he does, there is always someone looking to tear him down, etc. Taemin isn't the one bringing the drama, he's talking about the drama being created by others and outside forces that cause drama in his life. (In this case, drama isn't a good thing.) I see the crash test dummies in the MV representing several different things. First, he is no longer just going to sit around like a dummy allowing outside forces to use him as their test dummy to see how far they can push him, etc. I also see it as, he is going to stop allowing those brainless dummies to have a role in his life. In other words, Taemin won't allow those dummies -- i.e. those nameless, faceless people and things that are creating the drama -- to continue to exist in his life and he is setting them on fire to get rid of them and end the drama. All of Taemin's songs have similar themes, he uses his solo work to present a message about his life or society in general. Taemin is really smart, and he is very introspective. When he was younger he often struggled to break out of his shell and really express himself. So as a solo artist he uses his songs, MVs and performances to tell his story and to give a voice to the things he feels are important or something he wants people to understand about him or life in general. That is why Taemin's songs/MVs are often about the duality of a person and how he has struggled most of his life to come to terms with how people think of him vs. the way he sees himself, etc. You often see him tied up because it represents how he is always struggling to break free from something. I see the message in "Famous" as being connected to the themes within his recent Korean album Never Gonna Dance Again -- "2 Kids," "Criminal" and "Idea" -- where he talks about being in love with his career, but that doesn't come without sacrifices, such as having to endure the pain of keeping up a public image and the constant pressure he is under as an Idol who is always being scrutinized by the public, etc. If you know SHINee, it's actually not all that surprising that Taemin also raps in "Famous". Because SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group, all the members of SHINee were trained in rap. Hip-hop was the style of music that was really popular in 2008 when they debuted. That is why the members of SHINee are so multi-talented, their rappers are amazing singers and their singers can rap. During most the members' live solo performances, when the featured rapper is unable to perform with them, they will perform the whole song themselves. "Famous" is one of Taemin's Japanese songs. SHINee debuted in 2011 in Japan and Taemin had his solo Japanese debut in 2016. Taemin and SHINee are very famous in Japan and they have just as many songs and albums in Japanese as they do in Korean. They are so famous as Japanese artists that they are considered part of the mainstream Japanese music scene and most Japanese people don't even consider SHINee or Taemin foreign artists. Taemin's Japanese songs, in particular, often have very powerful and deep lyrics, and most of his songs have metaphorical meanings and messages. It's always worth looking up the lyrics to Taemin's songs because you are almost guaranteed that there is a lot more going on with the song than you see on the surface. For example, Taemin is a devout Catholic and you will often see biblical references and imagery in his songs and MVs, and there is almost always a spiritual undertone to everything he does. It's been more than 9 years since SHINee's Japanese debut, that is why all the members of SHINee are fluent in Japanese. Both SHINee and Taemin spend about 50% of their career in Japan promoting and holding concerts. SHINee has 6 Japanese albums and Taemin has at least 3 Japanese albums, plus dozens of Japanese singles, etc. They are so famous as Japanese artist that Japanese interviewers even travel to Korea to interview them. That is why, if you ever watch any of Taemin's or SHINee's Japanese concert performances you will see that the concert is almost entirely in Japanese, including the parts where they interact with the audience and their dancers. They don't even need translators. When Kpop artists hold concerts in Japan most of the time their backup dancers and staff are all Japanese, as well.
I'm new to Taemin as a solo artist. I know some about SHINee, but only just started listening to Taemin. These videos are a great way for me to learn more. And I'm guessing the smart Whatcher Fam followed you here. I've already learned a lot reading comments!
If you liked this dance practice and you’re new to Taemin you should see the live performance of this song from his Japanese concert, it’s spectacular! Taemin is an amazing solo artist, I love his whole discography and the level of his performances is just insane.

I can see Taemin is quickly becoming another favorite of yours! I think Taemin was a great place to start after BTS since him and Jimin are friends. You can sort of see where they are similiar, the milking of movements, the seductiveness. Although you really can't compare because they do have different styles. I just think it's cool to see the similarities in friends! I also love to see his use of space and of course the Michael influences! 💕💜
Loved the song, loved the dancing and of course loved your reaction. I must admit I hadn't really checked out Taemin before personally so your reactions have been my first exposure holy moly dude is insane in the best way. Thank you for the reaction! Also .. 6:53 .. I was reading some of the comments and I thought an ad popped up on my end lol 🤣

You should react to the auditions of trainees on idol survival shows. And here is why…(current on going shows: Boys Planet. Only 3 episodes in to the series so you would be able to catch up easy. Peak Time. Only 2 episodes in. No voting(judges choose while watching performances then and there) but its idol groups that decirte but didn’t get popular so they are either on a hiatus, or have disbanded but want to try again to prove themselves.) Ill leave a link in a comment below) 1. Dancing. You not only see the various types of dancers/dance styles but also the different types of talents through a more raw and unfiltered type of performance, and no not all of them are good.(but it’s funny lol) 2. You get to see the judges/crowd reactions. Plus the opinions of the judges and learn more about the extremely high/harsh level of expectations of what it takes to be an idol in the Korean Idol industry. 3. You are able to learn about more artists, music and talents in Kpop, most(if not at least 97%) of auditions and missions are covers of other artists. 4. You are able to vote for the ones you like if you choose to(during on air or active shows). 5. You also get to know and see what the public opinions(and how big of a roll popularity plays in the industry)and what they go for more based on the voting. 6. It’s a good way for newbies in kpop to dip their toes and expand their knowledge on how kpop agencies work and why and the names that are known and why and how fandoms are the way they are. Ect. I would love to see your and the guys reactions to them! Wait till you hear/see some of them😂 💜Borahae

Taemin is just awesome and a true dancer. It shows. If you are ready to change it up with a bigger group I suggest Seventeen - Dont wanna cry. Despite their name they have 13 members and their synchronization is mesmerizing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aJ55DJE4Os4.html
