Along with the beautiful sky, I was able to capture "the glory" in a majority of frames. Usually seeing it once in a flight is a big achievement. Near the end of the flight, I climbed back up to cloudbase with the motor off!
Dave, I learn somethingn from you every time! I had to look this up: "The "glory" is the nimbus of light that appears to outline the shadow of your plane on the ground when viewed from above." Awesome!
I haven't kept up my pilot's license since 2011, but I have had some instrument training. I like to frame my videos to appear as though I am adrift in a sea of clouds when in reality I am sitting on a deck of clouds adjacent a clearing with a view all the way to the ground. My Garmin helps me stay oriented and is of course more intuitive that a VOR or NDB. ( am in inbound or outbound? radial 260 or 80?) Air traffic is so sparse where I fly that I wonder if pilots are finding GA too expensive these days. I generally don't wear my aviation radio unless I am out of an airport with a FSS or tower.
