For a disco music lover like myself this is a fantastic tune as well as a very emotional one! In my humble opinion this was the last of the great disco era,god I miss those days so so much😢
For me one of the best songs of the Disco era. Has a certain magical vibe. The drums, the beat, the understated vocals. Miss those days. Wish I had the money to open a club for people my age- " to dance the night away".
I was very young, I was 15 when I heard this beautiful disco song. The first time I went to dance. I loved her and I still love her, she brings me beautiful memories 🎵🎶🎵🎶💜❤🙂💕
I had forgotten about this brilliant track, I must have played it in my DJ days, thanks to fabulous channels like this, its now a copy in my collection and regularly played,,, Promise not to forget again !!
Hola .
I bought a U.K.12" pressing in an import shop in Hamburg/Germany in 1981; because my favorite disco didn't have it yet, i brought it the other day: the song was well received at the club!😀
Voggue was a female disco vocal duo from Canada composed of Chantal Condor and Angela Songui. The group recorded two albums and released a number of singles, including "Love Buzz" and "Dancin' the Night Away, which appeared on the US dance music charts. In 1980, the duo released its first self-titled album, which contains the singles "Love Buzz", "Here We Are" and their most successful single, "Dancin' the Night Away", on the Trans-Canada label. While the singles were well received, some of the other tracks on the album were criticized as less polished and lacking in energy. In 1981, their most successful single, "Dancin' the Night Away", written by Denis LePage, spent three weeks at #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart in the U.S. and also reached #39 in the UK Singles Chart. In 1983, a second album was released on Matra Records, containing the singles "I Want To Dance" and "Sunstruck Lovers". Voggue disbanded in 1984.
This was one of the 1st songs I heard the first time I walked into Billy Jacks in Joplin, MO. I was underage and had one on the greatest nights of my life! I miss the 70’s , 80’s, and 90’s. The club scene was so much more vibrant back then, let’s bring those times back!
That's not true. There were true disco songs still becoming hits in 1982 and 1983 in the U.S. and UK. such as "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" by Indeep, "Forget Me Nots" by Patrice Rushen, "I Can Make You Feel Good" by Shalamar, "Circles" by Atlantic Starr.... and disco was popular in India in 1982 and several years thereafter. All catalogued by Disco Savvy.
Amen. My youth The 80s were the best years of my life when culture and freedoms were still rich and alive. I was hitting clubs with older friends before of age. I guess I looked mature as people said but cute. Lol
LOVE LOVE LOVE this song :)! GREAT Hustle song :)! I used to hustle to this song at the Strawberry Patch in Wayne, NJ. Ahhhh the memories :)! The 80's had the BEST songs and clubs ever :)! Thanks for sharing this great song :).
I remember hearing this song in school during my highschool time. The windows were open and the song came from one of the houses opposite the school. I had to buy that record.....and all the Lime-stuff that followed the years to come. Denis Le Page - my hero : a genius in music.
Eric Kaufman, Abilene, Texas. If he's not remembered anywhere else, I'd like to memorialize him here. He was the sweetest, laid back very kind blond gentleman you could ever meet. He had money and you knew it, but you would never know by his attitude. He always wore these all white linen outfits (popular in the day) and a white Lincoln Towncar with those oval opera windows in the back. I remember he would grab anyone and pull them up to the dance floor to just sway to this song and make you feel like you were the belle of the ball. Such a kind soul. I'm happy to put his name back out into the ethersvere, even though he passed away much too long ago. Always remember and always love.
Wow! So many memories! They used to play this at The Bar, aka, Johnny Angel in Lexington, KY as the last song of the night. The cocktails, the hot guys, the poppers...what a great time and I was so lucky to live to tell.
Just found out that Denis Le Page who wrote and played this epic song passed away from cancer in September 2023. He and Denyse La Page founded the band LIME !
Dang, yup i remember Maggie's I had super times there always. Drove up from Texas Tech in Lubbock to dance at this bar many times. Hope you visited Papillions in Lubbock, Texas, gosh, that bar was rocking and discoing all night Friday and Saturday. The smell of Oscar de la Renta, Halston, and Polo added to the glam and enjoyment of everyone partying. Had super times at both bars. This song brings back many memories and other good songs from that time period at those bars. Remember, "Feels like Im in love by Kellie Marie, Stormy Weather by Viola Wills, and Dancing the night away by Voggue just a few of the many many super hits at that time. Damn, miss those old good times. Love and Peace.
Wow, brings back memories and you described it so well. Loved Maggie's but don't remember Papillions in Lubbock. I do remember The Bar and Charlie's...good times.
I have not heard this....1981. My word....40 plus years. 4th and last year touring with Ice Capades 1982...ah...the fun on tour. Dancin' across country when not on the skates..Great times.
it reminds me of my beautiful years! was twenty three years old and it was the good time where every thing seems possible i am very nostalgic of these disco years.
Me too. I’m a romantic caught up in the past because it was truly fun and good culture and music. And smoking and drinking ok at age 17 which I was in the early 80s. Nobody said a word. Today stinks.
Just been reminded of this great song that id forgot about, being played by Mark Rodriguez on Heckington Living community radio (HLR) along with many other Disco, Hi NRG and cheesy pop tracks.
Geez this brings back memories of Studio One, The Odyssey, and Rumour Hazzit in Garden Grove. I hit them all ! and yes, we danced the nites away, me and my night dress attire lol, white spandex, red pants, black leather pants omg.
