This musical is probably the only musical that makes me happy and less depressed. It's just fun songs and women having time of their life. Everyone is 17 at heart.
Saw this movie 24 times on HBO...got me through my divorce. Just a fabulous movie with an ABBA soundtrack filmed in Greece! What more could you ask for??
I was living in a 'paradise' island somewhere in asia when this movie came out. I found it quite relatable then, at least the surroundings and the chill vibe/lifestyle lol
I know that this (like every other movie) is scripted, but every time they sing and dance, they look like they are genuinely having fun. One of the many reasons why I love this movie, no matter how many times I see it.
I'm not even female and I just smile every time I watch this video...its just so happy and nice to see older women still know how to have fun and WANT to have fun! Its just really adorable how three women could still have fun like they are 17..
LizMarie Diaz to the New York en Washington is een van de parel aan te doen is een beetje op de 9 meter hoge kwaliteit is een van meisje met de parel in het werk te gaan werken in de zorg van 4 jaar oud is een beetje op de parel aan het rode potlood en papier te 3 april in het werk te gaan werken
This scene is so beautiful and makes me so happy. It's great how at the end on the dock instead of doing an insane dance number with professional dancers they toned down the dance moves and got women of all shapes, sizes, and ages to do it. Really drives home the point of the song
Lyrics Ooh You can dance You can jive Having the time of your life Ooh, see that girl Watch that scene Dig in the dancing queen Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for a place to go Where they play the right music Getting in the swing You come to look for a king Anybody could be that guy Night is young and the music's high With a bit of rock music Everything is fine You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance You are the dancing queen Young and sweet Only seventeen Dancing queen Feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah You can dance You can jive Having the time of your life Ooh, see that girl Watch that scene Dig in the dancing queen You're a teaser, you turn 'em on Leave 'em burning and then you're gone Looking out for another Anyone will do You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance You are the dancing queen Young and sweet Only seventeen Dancing queen Feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah You can dance You can jive Having the time of your life Ooh, see that girl Watch that scene Dig in the dancing queen Dig in the dancing queen
I know it was already pointed out in some of the comment threads but just to make sure, 2:59 that piano player is Benny Anderson, one of the ABBA members and authors of this song.
An amazing movie, filmed on one of the most breathtaking islands on the planet. Skopelos island in Greece, is simply out of this world. I ve visited the place twice and I wanna live there for ever!
Esse filme é muito bom. ❤ Às músicas que passa nele então. Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, e aquela que a Amanda Siegfried canta, e outra na hora da festa que ela até desmaia, são uma das melhores. ❤👏
They better add this to Netflix sometime in the future because movies typically with bad ratings get on there. PLUS, the music is made by ABBA! Who would NOT ENJOY THIS?
This one song I could listen to it every minute of every day. I hear it on Pandora, I hear it on radio, I've got the CD, and every time the volume goes up and up and up. :)
that very scene 2:31 the woman carrying dried branches for some reason it made me breakdown and cry... for me it represents how most women especially our mothers work so hard that they forgot how to feel young and 17 once again. I salute all the hardworking mothers out there! you girls deserve a break from all the worries of life and parenthood. It is never wrong to once in awhile feel young again and dance like a queen. to all the mothers out there advance happy mother's day to all of you. may you all find time to be a dancing queen once again!...
I think my favorite thing about this within the context of a story set in Greece is that they are blatantly evoking the myth of the Maenads, the most important members of Dionysus's retinue, then plunging into the water that comes back at the end to save the resort. Magical realism wrapped around a kickin' showstopper of a dance number.
The one thing that stands out to me is that they really, REALLY seem to be having fun doing this routine! I'm sitting here with a smile on my face and an urge to go out and sing and dance like they do, and that's the best review you can give a movie...
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the Dancing Queen Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for the place to go Where they play the right music, getting in the swing You come in a King Anybody could be that guy Night is young and the music's high With a bit of rock music, everything is fine You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the Dancing Queen You're a teaser, you turn 'em on Leave them burning and then you're gone Looking out for another, anyone will do You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the Dancing Queen
I love this movie but what annoys me a bit about it is that people think the music is from the movie, but it’s actually ABBA’s, officially known as the biggest selling band of all time, and this is their movie and their songs! Their hard work, their blood, sweat and tears.
Melhores cenas do filme em minha opinião cheias de sentido para um bom entendedor..música perfeita...muito bom mesmo...

MOLLY WEASLEY! HOW DARE YOU ACT IN A MUGGLE MOVIE! I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED! YOUR SON'S NOW FACING AN INQUIRY AT WORK AND IT'S ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT! IF YOU PUT ANOTHER TOE OUT OF LINE WE'LL BRING YOU STRAIGHT HOME! - Oh, and Sophie dear, congratulations on finding your three possible fathers. Your friends and I are so proud.
Where Molly Weasley and Dr. Beverly Hofstadter serenade Madeline Ashton. Madeline comes out of her shell and jumps on her bed, skips the pathways on an insanely gorgeous Greek island, and captures the attention of every single Greek female on the island. They sing, dance at the same time, and jump in the ocean.
I HAVE NOT had a movie....musicals like Mamma Mia,make me smile so so hard during one of the performances like Mamma Mia! I adore adore Meryl Streep( and its soooooo cool she grew up 10min away from where I grew up) Meryl Strrep is w out a doubt.....my favorite actress EVER!!! I love love Diane Keaton,Susan Surrandon and a few more who I think are just as incredible, but honestly,I've been watching Meryl Streep from Kramer vs Kramer, where I fell in love w her, and she is the most incredible actress,I think in the world......she DESERVED EVERY Oscar she got!! I can watch Mamma Mia 5x in a row and still smile as hard as I do with this song and performance like its the first time!!!! Acting....Broadway....Stage.....Screen,it's my ultimate ultimate passion......I was soooooo stupid to quit drama in HS......acting is in my family's blood. My Brother has been acting(Stage) since he was 11 and my Cousin,(Screen) who was in Bridge of Spies w the BEYOND BRILLIANT Tom Hanks(My favorite actor since Bosom Buddies....was in Public Morals w Ed Burns and 7 other shows and films!!! I just turned 47 and would be a bit silly for me to pursue acting now, but,it will always be my dream!!! I'm not saying this about my family to brag......I'm saying it because of how proud I am of them!!!!!!!!

Always makes me think of this super beautiful pic of my Mama and my Tia looking all Dancing Queen. It was in the 70s. With the hair and the clothes and the shoes all working. Fierce. Dancing Queens the both of them.
