Allison did probably 90% of the dancing in the "cha cha" with Jonathan. It doesn't matter how amazing of a dancer she is because people are looking to see how well Jonathan dances. When she doesn't even give him that opportunity, she's doing him a disservice.
am I the only one who deosn't care about the comments and still thinks that Beth&Derek should win? at least compared to Janel, she seems more innocent and nicer.
I think the panel totally missed the main complaint over Serge's comments regarding Sadie last week...a lot of fans took offense that Serge was insinuating that Sadie was a liar. If he was being positive about her, it was done in a very back-handed way.
Loved Betsy!! She lit up my heart. Bless Tony for not throwing in the towel. He is wonderful and kind. Respect. Really enjoyed the guest stars, Serge, Keo and Elena and all they contributed to this show. They were fun! Suri was not being obviously Derek preferential, so I appreciate that she was more even handed. Kristyn, thanks for this show! I've been enjoying watching all your old shows on youtube. I don't always agree with you or your guests but I am always entertained and I keep seeking more shows out. You'd get a 5 from me if I knew where to put it.
Great show and so glad Jake will be back next week!!! My favorites right now are Bethany (LOVED her foxtrot), Janel and for some reason Tommy Chong (lol he's hilarious!) on a side note: Antonio isn't Latino! He's Italian!
also, i agree with Elena regarding Alison. Its not necessarily about her changing the style of her choreography, but giving her partner more to do because the star is the one you are suppose to be concentrating on. It wasnt about if there was enough cha cha content, it was the fact that there wasnt enough content for jonathan period, cha cha or not, that dance was all alison with jonathan standing around for support every once in a while. I loved her on sytycd and think she is an amazing dancer and choreographer and thinks she can make that adjustment without sacrificing her choreo.
Now this was a fun show! I really laughed so hard with suri and keo. Kristyn you're an amazing host. It was really cool to have elena back. Always love her input. Surprised you didn't talk about val dropping julianne. Or allison and maddie dancing to sia. Can't wait for next week!

Great show! A note on Allison...I think she is a great dancer, agree she needs to show off Jonathan as well- Elena's remarks were right on. Take a look at Emma, Peta and Tony this season and what they are doing for their celebs. It makes you love the Pro even more and since Allison is fairly new to the dwts audience, it really didn't endear herself. And the comment about fresh choreography while maybe correct just made me cringe (or maybe it was the combination with CAI reaction). I hope she regroups because I'm worried for Jonathan if this continues.
I'm sure since Suri is friends with Alison she's biased but dear God that Cha Cha was infuriating. It was pure ego on Alison's part. She made herself the center of attention and gave Jonathan barely anything to do. The stars are supposed to be the center of attention because they're the ones being critiqued the pro is there to teach them and make them shine. To hear Suri say Alison isn't likely to tone it down is very disappointing and I hope she's wrong. Jonathan deserves better. On a different note it's wonderful to see everyone again and I'm beyond excited to have Jake back next week. YEAH!!
Hi Jennifer! One thought to all of this: It proves doing a season in troupe is beneficial. The transition is always smoother when that happens. You see how dances should be choreographed to celebs. While this won't happen in this case, it's something for producers to look at.
Hi Kristyn, Yes I agree the new pro should always do a season in the troupe. Alison is an incredible dancer and I completely understand why she was brought on the show but I don't think she understands her role. Hopefully she'll take Len's advice and watch it back.
Keo's comment: "I just want to see Tommy Chong do the rumba!!" HAHA!! That was HILARIOUS! Keo seems very sweet, he just beams with joy from being on the show. All the best to him, great addition. I agree with Elena regarding Allison- I believe Allison needs to showcase her partner a lot more (week 2 dance all I saw was her, no Jonathan), being a new pro I'm sure that will come with experience. LOVED Tony and Betsey's foxtrot! Best dance of the night for me. Made me cry. Betsey looked beautiful and the routine was fantastic....Tony, you are a GEM of a man! Agreed. I don't think people realize how much attention she's getting all over the web. On the DWTS Facebook group (which is usually a decent indication of how the general audience is voting compared to Twitter which only represents the young fans) it's all about Alfonso and Sadie.

FunkyFuchsia91 The FB group is brutal for sure. The comments are mostly complaining about Julianne which gets very annoying when there is no point to it. She's on the show, she isn't going anywhere this season, deal with it. I mostly just glance through the comments to see who is being talked about the most.
Danielle Leo I have never been a fan of Julianne, but she is doing an amazing job of giving constructive comments to all of the contestants. FB is brutal to her and it is mostly about her appearance.
maureen currie The Facebook comments are unusually cruel. I am not sure why people have to be so mean. Constructive comments on how contestants can improve each week is the best type of judging, in my opinion. I like it when Len offers helpful critiques and Julianne is following in his footsteps. I might not always agree, but I think it gives contestants great notes on how to get better.
This was super fun- feel like I got my laughs in for a whole week :) Keo is a ray of sunshine and Serge's quiet side comments crack me up. The only thing that bothered my brain show-wise last week was the judging panel...4 is just too much somehow and I got antsy waiting for them to wrap up and move to scores. I dont feel that there is enough uniqueness in each judge's critique or comments to warrant hearing 4 times. (sorry, I know you had the kindness thing up on twitter, and here I'm being negative)
I typed that last comment while you guys were talking about Lea, I totally forgot about Betsey! When she walked out, I had to do a double-take as well. I even had to rewind to make sure I wasn't crazy or if she had a stand-in, lol! She looked unbelievably elegant and beautiful, in her makeover and in her dance. Her segment was one of those moments that's gonna be in people's minds for a long time to come.
I loved loved loved Keo. I really hope he's back next season, he'll be more prepared, and he already has a great personality. Yea that twitter vote thing against Lea was unfair I thought. The three that I think will go the farthest are Alfonso, Bethany,and Sadie. However Betsey and Tommy bring the most joy. I teared up during Betsey's routine. I want my grandparents to dance like that. They really represent what the show is about. Great show, and beyond excited to get Jake back, really missed him last season.
I think, barring shocking eliminations, Alfonso and Sadie are a lock-in for the finals. Who's gonna join them there, is up to anyone's guess, though Lea and Bethany are strong contenders.

Don't be so sure about that. People like or don't like contestants for hundreds of reasons. People aren't 'connecting' with Bethany so therefore they aren't gonna vote for her yet she's got 7 MILLION subscribers on RU-vid. I wouldn't count her out. and she's got Derek's MASSIVE fanbase behind her as well. You Conservatives couldn't get your candidate in the White House in the last 2 Presidential elections so I'd say there's more libs than conservatives.
wow, when did this turn into a political debate? I agree whatever Sadie's grandpa said is horrible, but I don't want to judge her by that. She doesn't have that annoying aura that Bristol Palin had. She seems sweets so far. Anything can happen in the next 7 weeks.
Amazing show. Great chemistry between the 5 of you. I wish you all could do the show every week. The conversation was so good. Loved all of your comments. I thought your guests were "spot on" with comments. I was a little miffed that they chose to do a twitter vote and did not give encore to Lea and Artum. The comments about pushing Val and Janel may be true. I don't think that they are doing them any favors. It will turn people off. One other comment. Amazing chore this season from all the pros. YES hilarious show please can serge come back every week!!!! I think this season some people i didnt expect are the ones i am rooting for, betsey for example and tommy and lea i didnt really know much about them before it started but there personality is just shining through!! i have to say i really love watching afterbuzz show discussions and i also enjoy talking to people in these you tube comments about the show and different peoples takes as I am not american not many people i know watch. And what i am most impressed with is within the afterbuzz posts people are honest and blunt but they say things nicely and constructively, I went to watch a few of the routines again on diff you tube channels and some of the comments are just disgusting, I find it hard to see that people are so cruel and say such hateful things about the celebs and pros alot this week i saw about allison, which maybe her routine didnt highlight jonathan enough but its a learning process for the new pros and cruelty is just not needed. But I think this comes from the show itself, kristyn and the other hosts will state there opinions and will call things out if they are wrong but comments are never hateful and i think this is reflected (mostly) within the watchers, so i wanted to comment on this and say how impressive it is.

Finally catched up with the after show!! This week was hilarious. About DWTS, it's clear the differences this season, but sometimes it sounds "fake" to me. About the cast, I only knew about Alfonso, Lea (I love her tv show Switched at Birth) and Johnathan, but maybe because I'm a foreigner. Plus, I feel more connected to the old ones than to the youngs and sexies, like I rather watch Tommy than Antonio, this is just hard to watch, thank God he's hot. LOL. I'm supper excited for Mark this season, Saddie is the only young I truly connected and even thinking he did great with Candace last season, now with saddie it just feels SO fresh and cute and nice! I just hope they can go further this season. Can't wait for next week. Bye, guys! Regards from Brazil :)
Totally agree!!!! I love Mark and I'm ready to see him win his 3th MBT! On the other side, I think producers are "sick" to see only women win since Donald Driver! Now with Alfonso, they just made the competition hard to any women there to win. But, anything could happen in this show. 7 more weeks to go, and I watch this show to be surprised and for the dancing, of course :)
Poor Antonio is not Latino though, he's Italian. His fears are becoming a reality because before the show started he said he was worried about expectations because he realized that people think he's Latino and would expect the "Latin lover" and would be disappointed.
I loved Allison and Jonathan's dance. Although when I watched it I thought there's too much Allison in this dance. Keep in mind Lacey Schwimmer got a similar note that she featured herself in the dances too much. Allison seems like a smart woman and an Emmy nominated choreographer. I am sure she will find a way to come up with great choreography that will feature her partner in future shows. I agree this is a great season of younger and older celebs. Kristyn Burtt you are a great host.
Can we talk a moment about the Val, Peta & Karina Trio that was freaking amazing I wonder who choreographed it (Im thinking them) And Val dropping & Almost dropping jules on show not I think he didn't trust his self that much that's why it happened
I love Keo. And I ship Suri and him now lol. I agree with everyone about Tony and Betsey. It was my favorite moment of the night. I love that Peta is showing her fun side with Tommy. Alfonso and Witney are killing it. He's the perfect partner for her. Allison is a genius but that routine was a big fat no. Why was Jonathan even here? Mark and Sadie are cuties, that's all I can think when I see them.
Awesome aftershow this week with Keo. He seems really fun to be around. Sad you didn't get to talk about Allison and Maddie dancing to Asia cause it was great. Maddie is a ⭐and i expect amazing things for her but obviously Allison is a beast!!
Watching Lea reminds me of Jennifer Grey. They were both consistent in their abilities, and we all saw potential in them at the beginning to take it to the end.

No time…we only have 50 minutes for our DWTS after show each week. We have to focus in on the Monday dances and the in-studio guest. I'm a fan of the video and I was a fan of that performance.
Loved this AfterBuzz as usual. Oil value all if your opinions. That what the show is about. Keo, very nice to meet you. And don't worry you're future with DWTS is bright. Emma and Michael did very nice but I would like for him to loosen up. He looks stiff. Alfonso is a dancer as far as I'm concerned. Before " Carlton" he was Broadway's " Tap dance Kid". Word is being spread that Janel had a man. She's just feisty and flirty....like Val. Great partnership great dancing. Tony has that skill that Derek has whereas he learns his partners' and choreographs to their personality. Sadie very cute and very likable. She's a natural S far as I'm concerned. That's why her dancing looks effortless. Also her jazz was pg-13 and I don't judge her for her religion it for what her family's' beliefs are. She's here to dance. That's all we should be critiquing. Bethany, so sorry she's injured and in hoping it won't interfere with dancing. Those " toe pointing" dances are going to be a challenge with a hurt ankle. However she's a trooper with a fantastic coach. I wish people would stop " shipping" people together. Just like I wish people would not say such rude comments. Do we not remember that Candace Cameron's daughter read all the hurtful things people said about her mom. The nastiness is uncalled for. Sharna did her best with Tavis and his schedule. She is a trooper as well. And they both have it their all. But I think the odds were against Tavis from the word " go". I'm glad Sadie got Mark he's a genius and his routines are theatrically creative. And Sadie is very comically theatrical. They will go to the finals. Antonio...ugh DWTS Italian stallion. I want him to loosen up those hips as well. Tommy and Peta., I love that he acts 26 as appose to 76. I know it's impossible but I'd like for the marajuana references to stop. Betsey awesome job. It must've been awkward for her family and friends to see her all dolled up. Awesome job Tony. Allison is not use to being a pro and I believe she only needs to be told once. So from now on I bet we will see more of Jonathan. Soooo sorry Lolo didn't get more time. Keo sounds like he was getting her to loosen up. But I don't think it's because she's an athlete. I think it will be very interesting starting in Week 3 that they are going back to their one night episodes. Will the voting be different? Will the scores be different? I dont know who is going home next week. Len isnt going to be there. They have comedian Kevin Hart sitting in for him. The performances continue to improve each and every week, that I couldn't pick a winner. Was I surprised Tavis was eliminated? No, he isnt really that popular among the shows viewers. I could see Lea in the finals of the show. She could get a 40 next week but will she. Who knows? These judges wouldnt know how to get a 10 if their lives depending on it.
I think those that think Bethany is not connecting are looking from an old school or traditional view of DWTS. I think she is probably pulling in a massive number of votes if not the most. I think DWTS does not focus on her because they are trying to get a larger following for some of the others. You guys are not understanding these you tubers. I am telling you now that they are a dedicated in one sense. What I mean is take Cody who had six million followers but didn't get votes. The difference with the you-tubers is if Bethany ever decided to call on them they would make it a mission for her to win. And they know how to make it happen. When they wanted motough to trend they did it. Look when you have Taylor Swift calling you out. I promise you have a base that Taylor, Meghan Trainor (all that base singer), etc.. wanted to hook into. While you all are saying you don't connect, she is connecting all over the place. You all are looking from the traditional view. I mean what it has always been like. Bethany is bringing in viewers. This is a business and without viewers you shut down. Look at Derek and Bethany's twitter accounts. They barely promote themselves on the show. In multiple interviews Bethany deliberately tells her fans they don't have to vote for her. Who does that? Derek and Bethany are like a stealth plane. You think she's not connecting from your point of view while if you go out to that techy RU-vid young smartphone crowd that is watching just because of her she is connecting all over.
Oh, I am not worried about Bethany getting votes or having fans. She has proven herself to be a force to reckon with on RU-vid and she's going to be just fine on DWTS. I would just like to get to know her personality better. The journey part of DWTS is what hooks me in each season.
I'm gonna miss Serge/Sergai next week. He's been terrific. Kio was a delightful guest and I'm sure he'll have a longer run on DWTS next season. (Unless he and Suri run off into the sunset together....). I didn't see the problem with Alison/Jonathan. I was more bothered by Cheryl dancing all around Antoino and having him stand there. Ah well. My real disappointment with the season is that Derek can't be "Derek to the max" because he doesn't have a partner who can keep up. I miss my 'take your breath away' moments with Mr. D. Back on track ... another super show from DWTS AfterBuzz and another amazing job from Kristyn staying on schedule without ever seeming to rush anyone's comment time. Amazing job, Ms. Burtt.
i think Bethany is finding her stride but she will get there! although really i kinda loved her foxtrot!! i thought the bass was a pretty big wow factor!! and the parts where she was in hold i thought her frame was very good and her footwork suffered a bit because of her injury but overall i think she did a fantastic job! also her facial expressions were spot on in my opinion! for me she is one of the best this season, along with alfonso, janel and sadie.
I think Derek has manged to have at least one "take my breath away" moment every season and I think if one looks at it objectively, he's had varied partnerships. So don't rule out having that sort of moment with Bethany just yet. He works with his partner's strengths (and sometimes it takes a while to build up) and gets them to shine. I have no doubt we will see that with Bethany. It's only week 2 with a sprained ankle :)
talk2minie Shame should have, in the show there are elders, who also likely to be injured, but for producers is more convenient to show injuries Bethany, as well as ALL Dereck partners in past seasons.
Alex Rojas I disagree with you and you know your statement is not true. If any celeb currently has injuries that is making hard for them to dance, we would have seen some difficulty moving, a wrap or a comment in that direction. Not saying they don't have little aches here and there since dancing is so tough on the body and new to some of them but clearly none of them besides Bethany has anything that is currently hindering their dancing and hopefully they all remain that way and Bethany gets better so they can all enjoy the experience and we can see everyone's full potential.
I didn't know who Bethany Mota was until I heard she was going to be on DWTS this season. For the record, I don't care for Sadie Robertson because I DO NOT LIKE what her grandfather Phil Robertson stands for. She's on Duck Dynasty so I'm sure she believes the same things he does. Sorry but I can't get on board with hatred! Anyway, I do like Bethany. This was ONLY week 2! Not a lot of people watch RU-vid videos. LOTS of people watch that Duck Show. Just because Bethany wasn't on a Network or Cable TV show, doesn't mean she's gonna go the way of Christina Milian. Don't forget, her Motavators are gonna vote as are Derek's fans ;) I think next week's Jazz Routine to Singing in the Rain is gonna be great!!
Oh and am I the only one who thinks that the show is forcing on Janel and Val? It looks so fake! I feel like the producers were like "look, we need you two to play this little showmance to raise interest on the show. it'll help you two on votes too i promise." i dont know maybe not but it seems that way.
That's the reason why I was turned off on her. If it's not clear then it was pretty blatant when they show the "ABC's of DWTS" and show them in the letter "R". That's why I was connected more on Sadie because she and Mark has a genuine sort of partnership (even though I don't share her family's beliefs) and I just simply can't connect to Bethany.
See, this is why I get super annoyed w/ the 'show' part of any reality show. Because yes, anyone with eyes can see DWTS is pushing the romance angle w/ these two. They show a super cringe worthy shot in dark rooms w/ a weird camera angle to make it look like they kiss(they didn't) and that stupid 'r' thing. But Val/Janel aren't faking anything. Janel talks about her bf all the time in DWTS interviews, she rt's his 'proud bf' tweets, and she instagrams him all the time. As far as Val, he's affectionate (sometimes overly) w/ everyone. Literally EVERYONE. The show is using their natural chemistry and making it gross. It's annoying, but it's not them.
I think they are as well. It wasn't AS bad this week and the Foxtrot made Janel appear more "softer" compared to the first week but it's still there. They are really the ONLY couple this season they could try and force a showmance on so I think they are taking advantage of that...though Janel and Val do play into it as well.
MiaDeniseR Exactly why I feel like the show's pushing it. I've been watching this show for 9 seasons now and I don't think I've seen contestants seem to be pushing it that far. I'm a big fan of them dancewise, but I just hate that it all looks so fake.
he keeps saying it was "interesting to work with Lolo" and 9 minutes later after droning on about her many "personalities" suddenly there's the positivity....not a great fit......this guy is a good dancer but they'll always stick him with the throwaway partners...he's great for the dance troupe though....
I agree that Allison is a great dancer but she may not be a very good fit for the show. It amazes me that new dancers and celebrities apparently haven't watched much of the show before. They always seem surprised when Len wants more traditional dances and more dancing in hold. Both Allison and Sadie got upset about the judge's comments but yet they both got pretty good scores. There you go I am talking about Allison and not Jonathan. I have vote for Tommy Chong and Alfonso. I hope they both make it to the finals.
1. Y'all should consider keeping Serge full time. Love him and his insight! 2. I love Allison so much, and I think she is beyond talented. Knowing her level of talent, her ability to adapt, the partnering she's done with Derek in the past, and the fact that she's from Utah, I had the utmost faith in the producers for having her be a pro on the show. But I gotta be honest -- she looked sloppy in this cha cha. Maybe it was the clumsy choreography (which didn't feature Jonathan much at all, which disappointed me) or the production with the lights and everything, but it was a mess. I watched the routine about four times, and it really didn't look any better to me. It was too hectic, and there wasn't enough Jonathan let alone enough cha cha content. I hate to say it because she's so great, but I found myself in line with those raised eyebrows when she was announced as a pro...especially knowing the other pros - SYTYCD vets or otherwise - who could be there instead. 3. "Call Me Maybe" isn't naturally a foxtrot song, but the choreography Val put together made it a good foxtrot song! The idea to make it a star-crossed lovers meeting at a masquerade plot was brilliant, and because Janel's an actress, it really enhanced a well-executed foxtrot! I think it was my second favorite of the night behind Alphonso! I think he's helping exhibit what a fabulous choreographer and dancer Witney really is. We saw what she brought out of Drew during Switch Up Week, and without the showmance aspect of a young dude like Cody, I think she's just getting so strong and getting the props and recognition she deserves for both her choreography and her dancing. Oh, and I'm LOVING Sadie!
***** Did you think the comment by Carrie Ann about the dance and her Dad's approval was wrong? I did think the dance was worthy of that comment. The show has always been careful with the contestants that are minors, but I thought Mark stepped over the line. Mostly the move of his face behind her butt and moving back and forth.( he wasn't close, but it still looked very suggestive.) It was an amazing dance, but I was thinking the same thing as Carrie Ann as I watched it.
I loved the "call me maybe" dance and it was my favorite choreo of the night. Janel is a wonderful entertainer and the dance was great. I cannot wait to see their "West Side Story" number.

I think the only lock to the finals this season is Alfonso. Sadie is cute, but I'm still not sure and I honest to goodness do not see anything in Bethany that will take her to the finals...other than Derek. Even though I personally like Janel, I put her and Bethany in the same boat, though unlike Bethany, Janel can dance and she seems excited to be there. I'm really not getting anything from Bethany other than she's cute.
I really want to like Alison because everyone seems to love her but that ChaCha was a nightmare. I've watched it like 5 times and I still can't process it. She's so skinny too :( I don't want to body shame her but it's distracting as a viewer - especially in that Sia performance. Betsey was the emotional highlight of the night for me. She looked amazing, her dance was great and her interview in the skybox broke my heart. I loved Alfonso's Samba, I'm excited to see him every week because he's such an entertaining dancer. Julianne did a good job judging this week too, they can get rid of CA tbh. Can't wait for next week :)
Okay… when you guys come up with something like “I don’t connect with Bethany” “We feel like we don’t know her”… I think about what Serge says that really clarifies everything to me: you guys simply don’t know what a vlogger is. You watch Sadie on TV but don't understand Internet because you don't live it. You are part of the TV generation. And then another thing comes to my mind: DWTS audience shares the same background - but not their children or grandchildren who are watching the show now, because of Bethany. This show will be decided by one of these two generations. And guess what: grandchildren have smartphones.
See when we have guys like Michael Waltrip and Betsey Johnson on the show, we don't need to see Michael race on NASCAR to connect with him, or see Betsey do her fashion shows to connect with her, right?

But you're missing my point. I'm talking about two generations that are disconnected. This is the whole "feeling" that this season is showing off. DWTS is a TV show. And its audience has never belonged to - let's say - the Y or Z generation. There's a gap there that is related to two different languages: TV and Internet. That's why it's easy to connect to somebody who deals with TV's language quite well - and Bethany Mota is literally from another environment. Don't think I'm a motavator - I miss my teen years. I'm being objective here when I say that one of these generations will define the results, regardless the talent that someone may or may not have (and talent is not always consecrated in the show, even when we had only TV generation). And I think the Mota girl is talented like other ppl there. I vote for talent and merit, not for sympathy.
Giu-C I know what you're talking about. And my answer is this: when it comes to connecting to some celebrity on this show, you need not go out of your way to see them in their environment. If Bethany deals with the internet, fine. But when it comes to DWTS, she needs to deliver on her personality big time. I don't know Tommy Chong from Cheech and Chong (because I'm in my 20's) so I don't know his impact on comedy but his personality on DWTS is plentiful enough that I can't help but root on him. Same goes with Lea Thompson (admittedly I didn't see Back To The Future movies) but her personality on DWTS comes across as endearing and sweet and likeable. Same goes with Betsey Johnson. Now I don't watch Duck Dynasty or Pretty Little Liars. And I certainly don't share the Robertson's Christian conservative beliefs. But what I saw from Sadie and her interactions with Mark is something that I find genuine and adorable, something that comes across as natural and goofy. That is why I've come to like Sadie on the show. This season has got to have some of the most varied and likeable personalities the show's ever had. Bethany just doesn't come across as connecting with a lot of people, even though she can perform and she has Derek. But she needs to come across and bring on her personality to the fore because she's fading into the background to me, even if she's got Derek.
ChuckRazor I will not vote for Sadie BECAUSE of her Christian Conservative beliefs. Which is why I'm glad she wasn't paired with Derek because I'd have a REAL hard time getting behind that partnership. I'm a die-hard Derek fan and I've loved all his partners. Same as if one of the Duggar kids were dancing on the show. This is only show #2. DWTS hasn't been showcasing Bethany as much as they have Sadie or Janel or Lea because she's a relative unknown and in my opinion, that's unfair to Bethany. Heck, on the first show, we didn't even know her ankle was injured until it was mentioned in a blog on another website in week 2. Bethany is only 18 years old. She's used to editing herself before putting it out there to RU-vid. That's a BIG difference compared to live TV, wouldn't you say?

The three young girls of the season are all on the same level in the competition for me. But personally, I think I like Janel best. Her personality doesnt really appeal to me much but her dancing out of the three of them is best. Sadie, probably second because she is just darling and her dancing isnt too shabby. Bethany, I'm not liking at all. I mean she's pretty and has a gazillion fans but that's basically it.
She's getting better and don't forget..she's got DEREK as her Pro! Derek sometimes likes to save the best for last, so to speak. Also, Bethany has an injured ankle and absolutely NO dance experience. Janel has YEARS of dance training under her belt but that's not been mentioned on air. Funny that!
kaknurse As far as I know, Janel's only dance experience was from growing up in Hawaii (because it was part of their culture), and the dance routines from Bratz the movie. She was a broadway kid in a sense that she toured with Les Mis but she just sang and acted while playing young Cosette. She didn't dance. So I don't think she's had more training than the other contestants have. Take note, we do have a dancer who's trained as a ballerina for 20 years. I do see improvement in Bethany, but I simply can't connect to her. And I just get a teensy bit upset when her million plus fans say that she's the best and that she was underscored when in my opinon, she was overscored. She was MILEEES behind Alfonso and yet she managed to get a better score than him. I guess my dislike for her comes from the injustice of it all.
Of the young girls I like Janel & Sadie the most, and i agree with kristyn and suri said, i think its because we havent really seen who bethany is, so she has been kind of forgettable. I wonder if it has to do with her injury, and if she has been distracted by that? if so, than maybe once that heals up some, we will see more. regarding janel & val faking or forcing something, i dont think they are forcing anything at all. they seem to have a really nice chemistry and banter between them. Its the show that seems to be pushing some sort of agenda, and its so obvious that i actually find it funny.. they seemed to back off it a little this week so i wonder if the producers have given up...probably not lol I love tommy & betsey, and if they keep this up of being entertaining and surprisingly better than expected, i can see them outlasting antonio and maybe randy or jonathan.
I'm really going to miss Serge. He has some really great well-spoken moments and some really cute silly ones. He's great to listen to. I hope to see him in the troupe at some point. I am another huge fan of Allison but I have to agree that she is taking the spotlight away from Jonathan. She must feel pressure to prove her worth as a ballroom dancer which I think is understandable but she is not the celeb and needs to back down as Elena mentioned. I appreciate Len's comment to watch the video and rethink her approach. She was amazing in the Sia number though. I wish you all had talked a bit about Julianne's dance. I thought it was a big mess. i adored her as a pro but I think she just needs to stop dancing on the show and just be a judge now. It was weird to watch...maybe too many guys on the dance floor and she is so just tiny. The costume also looked cheap which was a huge surprise considering everyone else has been looking amazing so far this season. IMO I think she was trying to hard.
Didn't she seem kinda heavy in her footwork? I say that as a fan that has watched her a lot over the years and always rooted for her. She was not her old self which in fairness is fine since she's tried to do other things. She was just trying to show off. She totally fumbled that lift with Val in the end too. It's the 2nd episode and I already want her gone next year as a judge.
Yesenia Hernandez Unfortunately, we only have 50 minutes of studio time for DWTS. With several guests in studio and 12 dances to talk about, the Tuesday results show didn't get talked about. We have to prioritize dances and topics for DWTS. :)
