My wife and I have just bought a 1996 Dandy Designer, and we are watching this repeatedly in preparation for our maiden adventure this weekend. Very useful.
Great to see Ian and the team showing off their brilliant campers. I have a 1986 Dandy delta, owned for 11 years and still going strong. Plan to upgrade to a riva when the wife lets me. Keep up the good work and a the best for the future. Marcus
These are fantastic - my mate has one from the late 70's and keeps on going and going. Going to get a dart or designer for me, my partner and our little one to enjoy weekends away. Best trailer tent / folding camper ever designed in my opinion
I have just come back from holiday using a dandy dart with my wife, these are brilliant and easy to use. I was apprehensive and bought one on ebay for a grand with the original awning and I love it! my corsa pulled it no problem its only a 1.2, good affordable camping !
I've had a few of these pop-ups over the past thirty years. They set up quickly and are easy to manuever and tow. Perfect for a couple or small family who only camp occasionally. The only draw back is that they can be frightening in high winds.
A very I threshing concept!! I like it !! However important information is missing. The weight empty and fully loaded. Where do you store all your camping gear if you have to partially build the cabinets as you set it up. And the price of each individual camper
One of the most complicated pop-up campers I've ever seen. How many steps was that, 80,85? I do like the cook top cabinet set up. It looks like it could be used in several other small applications. I also like the zip on room thing. It looked like it was made specifically for this camper and fit very well. As opposed to some after market thing just plunked down in front of the camper. But it really should have heavy duty stabilizer jacks on the four corners of the trailer frame.
We use our Dandy in the garden as a spare room when we have loads of people staying. It stands on hard ground which we couldn't do with a tent. Even in Winter our visitors love staying in it. Being off the ground makes a big difference in bad weather!
With this Dandy camper, you can be set up in less than 15 minutes, and to break down same amount of time. We are out all year round for just a couple of nights, and the Dandy is brilliant, made of PVC, so you can even put away wet with no fear of rot
dont think i see your point on the not sleeping on the floor idea ... my family and i use a 1996 dutchmen 801 duck popup tent trailer ... you crank it up .. pull out the slides .. insert 2 bars for the canvas area and done .. just stating how difficult your setup appears to be compared to a tent setup .. to each their own definitely the case ... but i tend to think when you upgrade from a tent to something bigger and off the ground so to speak ease of use usually goes hand in hand .. but then if i wanted to try your method of madness ill put my tent atop of my 8x12 flatbed trailer i use for my snow mobiles
would love to see a Camp-Let Royal still surviving after 10 years, unlike the Dandy thats built to last for decades.. Would love to see a Camp-Let Royal older that a Dandy folding camper
@@NeilTaylor The roof joint looks fussy. I've never seen one that was closed evenly. What makes it waterproof? And those over door panels always seem to puzzle the installers.
Hi Chrisine just about ALL in the Dandy range have heaters most are gas underfloor and very warm and toasty. And most also have mains electric so you can also plug in a convector heater. Have a look at another clip @ xnwbdVdttIU
Neil Taylor Sounds like very durable material, but everything else seems a little...flimsy? Would it keep out a rainstorm? Maybe a little too lightweight would be a kinder word. I confess I can't see it up close and personal and if I was able to handle the Dandy in person it might be stronger than it appears in the video. I would be very impressed if that camper really lasted for decades.
Jonathan Williams ours was built in the 60s. Roof awning is made of strong oil skin material and is totally waterproof. Great investment and better than any canvas. Easy to put up, I’ve done it by myself before. These are great value if you can find one!
It just doesn't look like the thing could deal with anyone who had a few extra pounds - those polls look awfully thin, so I don't think it would work in the US.
"frightening in high winds" Check my profile!! we can 12 months of the year, in the cold harsh winter, to the hot sunny summer days, and the Dandy is rock solid even in high winds!! check out some of my other videos to see :)
I'm sorry Neil Taylor, I have to go with lurch45 on this one! entirely too many loose flaps! Two (2) minutes?!? I would love to see a video of that in any wind above 15 mph!!
+James Ahlgreen do check out my other Dandy videos to see why we opted away from tents, to the Dandy camper, a great video to watch? try this one -->> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yiB1UhXu_dQ.html
+James Ahlgreen This is loads easier, quicker and more comfortable than a tent. The only tent that might be quicker is a pop-up but I've never seen one that sleeps 4. We've had our Dandy for 3 years and it's been better than all of our tents and the camper van. They all have pros and cons but the Dandy has plenty of cons.
