One last comment from me: I think every person who’s played the Danganronpa games has one death that just absolutely breaks them, rips their heart out and beats it up. For me that’s Sakura from Danganronpa 1, mainly in the way she died. Up until that point, there were a bunch of gruesome murders involving people that had obviously died. Even in other media & games I had played, death was obvious, they get blown up, stabbed, shot, blasted into the void, something like that. And then there’s Sakura. I didn’t know up until that point at 14 years old that people could die looking completely normal and peaceful. She didn’t even look like she had died. I didn’t think she was dead even with the holy music playing. Something was wrong, but I didn’t think she had died. And then that fricking jingle played. It took me a minute afterwards to have that revelation. There were only six people left. Four were in that lounge room. Sakura was dead. I remember putting down my controller and just being in shock for three hours. 🥲
From my understanding, Gonta’s memories were affected as well as his personality which lead him to killing Miu. The initial barebones concept I think is interesting, a blackened who does not actually know he is a blackened. However, it is certainly made extra complicated with the way the writers made Gonta the blackened, with the virtual reality game and the technology, Miu and Kokichi going at each other, so on and so forth. It was an extreme stretch. I think it would’ve been better if Miu did want to kill Kokichi, but Gonta didn’t want that to happen, and accidentally did something that killed Miu but he didn’t actually know that, so Kokichi manipulates the situation to make it out like he’s the killer like really obviously. Gonta is probably best boi of V3. I adored him and it was sad that he died. At least he’s in Ultimate Summer Camp having fun now
