The tale of Egilsonn is a story about the acceptance of death, and the fact that the best way to remember a loved one is not by the achievements they didn’t acomplish but by the space they occupied in our hearts and memories. Only when Egil realizes this, he id ready to carry his son to the funeral and move on with his daughter
Something I try to teach everyone that I let into my close circle of thinking is this: Remember those you care about, not in life or death, but rather remember them for their smile. The way the sun shines light upon their face or the way their voice sounds. Memorize their sounds and their touch. Because eventually those memories may be all that you have left. And age means nothing. Death comes for all that lives, some go sooner than others, but we all must answer eventually, However.
Heavy and sluggish the tongue is lifted, lifting weights with the treasure of the verse; Odin's loot not easily found, heavy towing from the hide of the mind.
Unfortunately this is not correctly translated :) But close. The hide of the mind means 'the skin' of the mind. I ponder if concealment is more correct.
More correct translate with the original lyric: English: Heavy and tired Tongue lifted, To lift the weight with the treasure of the verse; Odins stolen goods Not Easily found, Heavy to tow from the minds hiding. Danish: Tungt og trægt tungen løftes, at løfte vægten med versets skat; Odins tyvegods ikke let fundet, tungt at slæbe fra sindets skjul.
Old norse: Mjǫk erum tregt tungu at hrœra með loptvætt ljóðpundara; esa nú vænligt of Viðurs þýfi, né hógdrœgt ór hugar fylgsni. --------------------- English (my translation): Very are we slow, to stir our tongue, with airy lightness our poem-scale*; now it is not beautiful: odin's loot*, nor easily drawn from minds den. *ljóðpundara = poem-scale (as in weighing scale, a bar with a fixed weight attached to one end, a movable pivot point and an attachment point for the object to be weighed at the other end, an analogy for the tongue 'lifting/weighing' the heavy words of the poem, this is only the first stanza of a longer poem) *"odin's loot" = poetry; the verses of poems. To recover/steal odin's loot is to craft poems (kveða/yrkja).
I have no words.. i absolutely love this music, this nordic culture, but this track is something special for me. I dont know why but it is. Even though it's a sad story its beautiful! Thank you for this song.
@@tarasantistevan6725 Basically, it's a poem about a man who had lost his sons to death by sea and illness, thus they did not fall as warriors, denied access to Valhal(Valhalla). Instead they'd go to Hel (the underworld more or less). The man locked himself in a room to starve himself to death.
I've just discovered from a comment under the "Enya ~ Boadicea" video that the sample has been used many times! I love it! Единственный исполнитель, каждый(!) трек которого мне нравится. Не думал, что на моем веку, среди всякой вирусной попсы и прочей дребедени, возникнет эта прекрасная музыка. Danheim, thank you for your creativity!
Awesome song as always. Drums sound good as well as the sounds of nature. The drums are a heartbeat of Native and Nordic people and our culture and heritage. Tack and a big megwetch in Nordic and Native language
I am passionate about Scandinavian music and culture. I live in another country and I always show up here, I already have my separate plays list. # Jessica / Brazil
A good song and good video. Nice and beautiful scenery. After I get done with hat band I want to combine nordic& native american designs into my beadwork. I think it would look really nice.
Hi Danheim i love your art ! I love the beat that begins at 2:11, what type of drum is it? what's the tuning or the dimension of this special drum? If i have the opportunity i will create my own drum and i hope it can sound like this one! Hail and Skåll from France !
