God, he is so lovely, all nervous, and laughing and modest and clever! Quite the opposite of Cecil...And they are both having such a great time in this interview, I love this video!

His portrayal of Cecil was wonderful and so perfectly drawn. I love seeing how different actors are in real life from the characters they play. The contrast here couldn't be sharper. Goes to show what a tremendous job he did with Cecil.

"My Beautiful Laundrette's" Johnny was followed by Cecil Vyse of "A Room With A View". Two roles that appear to be at the opposite ends of the universe. DDL went on to inhabit one astonishingly unique role after another.

LOL! I thought I was the only one who was in love with that scene! Whenever I watch this movie (which is embarrassingly often), I always end up rewinding more than once so I can watch him swat that bee away over and over. Hilarious.

DDL's interpretation and characterization of Cecil in RWAV stands out as this singular jewel of a performance. Whereas the rest of the cast moved brilliantly in syncopation as a cohesive unit both in tone and texture. Daniel played Cecil stylistically different and set a delightfully incongruous tone and timing against the rest of the cast . Bumping into the other characters like an awkward moment in every scene. Then, on his final moment as he sits down on the stairs after being rejected by Lucy, he slows down and imbues his character with smoothness, reverence, depth and authenticity.
