In this skit Beulah learns that even though Daniel and his friends had been taken captive and transported to Babylon, they still followed God and His ways. As a result, God blessed them.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank (Daniel 1:8 NKJV)
Lessons Taught:
• Long ago, everyone spoke the same language
• God told everyone after the flood to have children and fill the whole Earth with people
• The people stayed in one place and started building a tower instead
• God had promised there wouldn’t be another flood to destroy the Earth
• God always keeps His promises
• He placed a rainbow in the sky to show that He wouldn’t destroy the Earth with a flood
• God gave everyone different languages and they stopped building the tower
• The name of the place where the tower was built became known as Babel, which is the Hebrew word for ‘confusion’
• The city is also called Babylon
• After King Josiah died, his sons led Judah back to evil
• God sent prophets to warn them that He was going to bring destruction but they didn’t heed the warnings
• King Nebuchadnezzar attacked Jerusalem three times
• The last time, he laid siege to the city for 1 ½ years
• People in Bible times had only one name and added where they were from or their ancestor’s name to distinguish themselves from others with the same name
• Jesus was known as ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ and ‘Jesus Son of David’
• The first time Nebuchadnezzar attacked Jerusalem he took some valuable items from the temple
• He also took some members of the royal family who were good looking and were quick to learn
• Nebuchadnezzar wanted them to learn the Babylonian language and culture and serve in the palace after 3 years of training
• Daniel and his 3 friends were some of the ones taken captive
• Daniel and his 3 friends, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah were given Babylonian names
• Esther's Hebrew name was Hadassah
• The captives were to eat the same food as the king
• The Book of the Law listed meats that were ‘clean’ and ‘unclean’ and only clean foods were okay to eat
• Daniel and his friends decided to not eat the king’s food
• Someone taking a Nazarite vow didn’t eat anything made from grapes
• Daniel asked permission to eat other food from the person who was in charge of taking care of them
• The person in charge of them refused Daniel’s request because he was afraid that he would be killed if they became sick
• Daniel asked the person who brought them their food to do a 10-day test
• During the 10 days they would eat only vegetables and drink only water
• At the end of the 10 days, they looked healthier than the others so they were allowed to continue not eating the king’s food
• At the end of the 3-year training period, King Nebuchadnezzar found Daniel and his friends to be ten times better than everyone else
