My little brother was also a huge fan of her. I remember the evening, she fell from the Balance Beam in the All Around at the 1989 Worlds... he was furious!
I am not following the current development in the Sport anymore - where is Romania now on the map in Artistic Gymnastics? Are they still in the lead? I think things have changed rapidly.
😅😎😁 Nadia was just the beginning. They had so many successful and beautiful gymnasts. Daniela Silivas was highly decorated with medals of all colours, after she retired. 😊💚😏
Your comment reminds me of myself when I began gymnastics, in 1985, we were watching Mukhina's bars routine at the '78 Worlds, and my coach said "Oh that's a full-twisting Korbut" and I was like "Uh...? Who's Korbut?" I didn't know there was anyone before OR after Nadia...
She wasn’t underrated at all, she was in the worlds in 85, the olympics in 88 where she won silver, she scored many 10’s. She was and still is very well known in the gymnastic world
In 1985 she was amongst the youngest gymnasts, winning a Gold Medal, such as Elena Shoushounova and Oksana Omelianchik. Little did we know back then, how young she truly was... ... but she revealed it in 2002, that in 1985 the Romanian Gymnastic Federation changed her date of birth from 1972 to 1970, to make her eligible for the World Championships held in Montreal (Canada) back then. Imagine... she was actually only 16, when she became the most successful Gymnast in Seoul 1988, winning 3 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and a Bronze. Medal.
Both.... Yang Bo and Olessia Dudnik rang a new era in, with such difficult and innovative elements, but they made mistakes. That's when Daniela Silivas was able to pull through, yet to another Gold Medal with her solid work. I am happy, that Daniela actually won those Medals, since she retired shortly after the World Championships, but on the other hand - it would have been nice to see Olessia Dudnik or Yang Bo on top of the list, since their routines were so immaculate, fresh and new - almost fearless. It was such an exciting competition. 💚💚💚
