For me, this job means that Steve gave the client back his memories, his best moments, his best feelings, his passion ... everything he needs or wants to live a happier life. Surely the client will take firmer steps with those boots. I think that is priceless. Great job Steve! 👍

You Steve actually have one of the BEST jobs on earth. To be able to keep someone's belongings in use so that memories are close is priceless, but $900 to repair some boots is also fantastic. Awesome work! Keep it up. You are an inspiration!! Thank you

I completely understand where this guy is coming from. It's not the $$$. I go around trying to find things I loved as a child, lost or broken, it's fun when I finally find the item. I know weird!! I enjoy watching these shoe repairs, people don't drop their shoes off to the shoe makers anymore, SAD. Takes a lot of talent. Beautiful work!! TY.

A great job as usual Steve. As long as you have the money I see no problem in spending $900 restoring a favourite pair of boots. We are always being told to restore, reuse and recycle. It always amazes me that you know where to start just looking at the item.......and the freehand work with the trusty knife and other tools...a true artisan and delight to watch. A white horse trots into a bar and the bartender says "did you know we have a drink named after you" the horse looks at the bartender and says... "What? Eric". For you my friend.

I can relate 100% to loving those boots because of the teeth marks. I had a car that my sister's gorgeous black lab loved riding in. It had puppy nose prints all over the quarter glass windows. I could never bring myself to wash those 2 windows after he crossed the rainbow bridge. I cried a bunch when I finally sold the car. Steve, your work is impeccable and I love every video you post.

@@RIPPER334 Aye same here. I bought the Brown/Khaki Danner lights around 2006 and paid around $225. I still wear them every so often. Still look as good as the day I bought them. Only other brand I've seen thats as resilient as Danners is Gripfast. I bought my 6 eye oxblood Gripfasts back in 2000 and they're still going strong. The Vibram soles will probably need replacing in the next year or so because they're almost worn smooth lol

My father kept a pair of shoes a beloved pet had destroyed. My mom decorated a shadow box and put them on the mantle and bought replacements. But each to his own. I’m no less impressed with Steve’s work

Maybe I should have preserved the teeth marks my dog inflicted on one of my favorite purses. Instead I took it to the friendly neighborhood cobbler, who did a less than impressive job fixing it. That was before I found out about Steve.

My cat turned a pair of my boots into a scratching post a year or two back. She, unfortunately, passed away at the start of the year and that pair of boots is one of the most sentimental items that I own now. I totally get the owner wanting to keep those teeth marks.

I am afraid that too many people devalue the craftsmanship and skills of people that think things should be somehow super cheap. If they could attempt to do this project they would have a appreciation to know the difficulty at such attempt.

I restore old furniture for clients with the same "sentimental" feelings. i.e. it was my grandmothers, or mothers,etc. Can't put a price on things. Funny thing is after these boots are done like my furniture their better then new ones. They don't make them like they used to period.

Duck canvas coms from the dutch word "doek". The dutch pioneers use this on their wagons. In dutch it is pronaunced as Dook but throughout the years it became duck.

The usual reason any of these videos are made is because the sole needs replacing. In this case the sole is the best least worn part of the boot.

I fully realize that your a master at what you do but how in the world did you learn to tear irreplaceable boots such as the Danners and put them back together nearly flawlessly? You dont go to shoe/boot college and learn this. Who taught you and when did you gain the confidence to move forward. I love working with my hands and at a job. Where every job/project is different and challenging. Therefore the "risks" are worth the rewards. Well done.

I noticed that he hit his finger nail and is starting to grow out. If you ever had that happen to you and you can feel your heart beet from your finger. It's very painful because it's under pressure. If you get a small drill bit (the smaller the better) and slowly drili a hole through your nail.. DONT USE A DRILL MOTOR!!!!!!!! Use your hand it will drill. Once you get through blood will squirt out and the pain will emediatly stop. Your in pain because it's under pressure

observation: Seems very odd. The soles aren't worn. Nor show sign of edge wear i.e. rocks, hiking, work of any kind. He cares about them but never cared for them? I'm a Bees Wax fan. For boot leather. Mine look great , I just wear them occasionally.

Pavement wears soles. Pretty much nothing else will. I walk on wood and dirt everyday and my you're wear out when the sole looks brand new.
