Danner Explorer All-Leather Hiking Boot - Review, Unboxing and On Feet [The Shoe Dude Review] 

This are absolutely fantastic boots! I was issued a pair of these in Afghanistan in 2008 and I still wear them now in November 2019.

I have two pairs of these boots. One for hiking and the other for everyday/casual use. They are rock solid and are up to the task of handling the most punishing backcountry terrain. Some people here complain about Danner's lace quality. The laces are superb, still in great condition after 10 years. Cannot recommend them enough and although the price has increased since this video was made, they are worth it. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

Dude, your sizing description is exactly as mine. I range from 10 to 11 the same exact way you do. I'm sticking to your reviews for all boot related stuff lol

You are right on with the sizing. I had to size up a half size from my work boot size and they are great.

Great review. Great info and great camera/sound quality. I'm a huge fan of Danner. Can't go back to cheap boots. My first pair was the Acadias. Duty boot for work. After a month they were broken in and perfect. 2nd pair was the Marine GTX. Amazing right out of the box. 3rd pair is the RAT. The RAT is THE most comfortable duty boot I've ever worn. I adore all 3 pairs. Worth every penny. Had my Acadias for 4 years now and still have tread left. When I wear them out I'll send them to Danner to rebuild them.

I purchased my first pair of Danner boots many , emphasis on many, years ago when I was in the Marine Corps. They are a leather and Gortex boot. I put many miles on them in a lot of various terrain around the world. I still have them to this day... over 20 years... they are great boots. So much so I recently bought my second pair. A hunting boot, the feather light I believe in camo gortex and leather. True to Danner quality they are fantastic. Zero break in straight from the box to the field. I paid just around $100 for them through Bass Pro. My first pair via the base exchange overseas just under 200 dollars. I won't buy anything other than Danner.

I have 7 pair of Danner Boots. All of the boots I have are 9EE. I have found the boots on this the "650" last to be narrow. I use the Green colored Super Feet inserts and can be in my boots all day and night. I need to to wear boots as a head injury has effected my visual field and I am unable to see below the horizon. In order to prevent foot injury I'm always in boots. I have had many brands. Nothing, but nothing has compared to my Danners. I have pair of Recons, Ft. Lewis, 2 pair of Acadia, a pair of Rat's, 2 pair of the LT's and a pair of 6 inch Duty boots essentially a lower version of the Acadia's. I love all these boots, truly. These all leather Brn Explorer boots are stunning! I have found that the Red Wing boots I have had while nice did not support the amount of movement I am used to doing. So Danner it is! My only statment is that they are heavy. I try to be careful around my wife and grandchildren but as I cannot see my feet... BTW I'm Scottish got married for the 3rd time in a kilt and wearing my Danner Recon's.

Great review of these boots. I just purchased a pair of the Mountain 600 leaf a few days ago. Keep up the great reviews and I’ll be watching.

I order my danners wide so I can use a comfy insole when it's not too cold, and when the temps go down I remove the comfy insoles and wear burly wool socks. My mountain light 2 is the best boot I've ever owned. I want a brown pair next and I think this boot here is what I'm going with. Again. The best hiking boot I've ever owned. Hands down. And they look great!

I have the exact boot, and I love them! I will say I didn’t love the plastic half insole, so I replaced it with a Pro Foot heel shock absorbing insole 👍🏻👍🏻

When I fought wild land fires , I wore their fire line boots did 6 seasons , only replaced the 1st once’s because I was in a traffic accident and they got trapped in the trunk lol .. looking to buy them again because the work I’m doing now I eat up boots quickly, right now I’m wearing timberlands and I’m about 8 mo and the sole is behold worn down

for that price point might as well just get your name on the Limmer boot list for 100 and get the best boots ever made , hand made perfection custom boot!

$6.00 for laces? Nope, buy 550 Para-cord in just about any color and it is way stronger than shoe laces. Typically sold in a 50 ft. package for about the same price of $6.00 at Walmart. I have all 4 pair of my Danner Boots laced with Para Cord, Just cut to length and burn the ends-done. Para Cords strength can be handy in an emergency for lashing, hanging or pulling.

Nice hiking boots. Danner 's You want quality get American made real leather. You pay for the quality and the comfort but the boots last for years.

this kind of all leather winter boots IMO makes no sense. The same basic construction Hood winter light 200gr 10"high are definitely a better option IMO. You have to reason about the occasions when you wear this kind of footwear... hiking? maybe. But the most of the time when you wear a pair of this boots it is rainy and very cold, it is snowy... at that conditions having a better ankle protection and cover, and support and warm makes the big difference in this kind of footwear.

I hope you Threw those inserts away, they ruined my Danner Canadian Boots.

"Few days!" How about several weeks to break in plus lotion them up as they sit in storage leather dry up a bit. I work and hunt in these and RedWings. Walk the walk sir 500 miles come back make an experience video. Not a hater just practical

Ppl unpacking these are always saying something like "you can instantly see tehse are really high quality..." and than you see the boot, and it doesn't look like a high quality hiking boot at all, actually it looks kinda cheap. A real high class hiking boot has ball bearing / locking eyelets, and the tongue on this one isn't even gusseted properly, +the sole looks bit too simple.

Great review but the boot is not all leather tons of plastic tons of man-made materials

First of all the lining is not leather, therefore these are not all leather boots, Danner actually makes an all leather boot called Mountain Trail, please do your homework. The fact that you use only one hand for showing and the other to handle the video camera is annoying, please buy a tripod and use both hands. Negative score.

unfortunately for that price i can get almost 2 pair of Galluser juchten 3,9mm leather boots from gronell or Treemme. i worry about the softness of the leather and the goretex i really hate it, nevertheless lookwise they are nice
