he also said in an interview (or on a pod idr which) that if he could he'd go back and undo it he would because of how much it fucked him up financially
This album is a huge grower. I used to not love it but after listening to Danny Brown's other albums and getting to know him better as an artist it has become one of my favorite albums of all time. its literally insane
Great album. Posting my list again. Please react to any when you get the time. Primus - Frizzle Fry Faith No More - Angel Dust Mr Bungle - California The Jesus Lizard - GOAT
you absolutely need to check out The Mars Volta's "Frances the Mute." Long, winding prog rock opera with the perfect blend of strange, weird, experimental, and catchy.
I actually found f11 after you, both of yall make S tier content so the mutual appreciation is so great to see. Sorry I’m not as consistent as I’ve been, man. You know I love ya tho ❤️
I might be talking out of my ass, here. On the song Golddust, I'm almost confident the bass in the verse section starts off on the back of the beat and progresses to the front of the beat to give a rushed feeling. It's common in jazz to use the backs and fronts of beats for different effects. The beat lands a certain place in rhythm, and being behind or in front of the beat can give a laggy or rushing feeling. Don't mistake this as playing early or late, the time difference is waaay to small. But, there is a little wiggle room in the space of time considered "on beat," and I believe the instrumental uses that to make it sound like the background is speeding up by going from laggy to rushed.
I pre-liked the video because I knew it was gonna be fiya. This album is definitely in contention for Top 20, if not Top 10, hip hop albums of all time. It speaks to truth and is so unfiltered and honest about the perils of that kind of lifestyle. It doesn't speak to me directly, as I try to keep out of that shit, but it reminds me of my abusive ex-step-father and how much drugs affected his life and the cycle of trauma and abuse it can create; he was taken from his mom because she was perpetually strung-out. It's easily a 10/10 in terms of message, even if the musical aspect of it can be less than perfect at times and around a 9/10 overall. Speaking of top albums, the album with no contention for my number 1 album of all time, as it's the clear winner, is Ys by Joanna Newsom. You said a long time ago that you would get around to it, and I think June or July 2024 is the time, my boy! Love you, Smags.
Bro plsss, listen to "por cesárea" by Dillom, he's an argentinian rapper and this is his second album, it has a really dark theme and an amazing sound, i'm sure you'll love it! Also if you actually listen to it i suggest that you read the lyrics, they are important to the overall enjoyment of the album :)
Fuck yeah one of my faves album of all time. Lost is one of the most unique sounding songs I’ve ever heard. BEGGING you to listen to by the time I get to phoenix by Injury Reserve
I think the next album for you is Some Rap Songs by Earl Sweatshirt. He’s the guy who had the final verse in Really Doe. It’s a really depressing project
