The best thing about tracing ancestry is finally connecting with all those history lessons you didn't pay attention to in school! Really enjoying Danny's investigation into the past. I always thought Rollo was looking for warm water ports but they were really looking for better cuisine!! 😆😆😆

Definitley changes your view. Ive been doing my family tree since January and the history that my ancestors and relations were included in and connected to is unbelievable. Courtiers, knights, ww1 soldiers (some died tragically) queens kings politicians athletes etc.

Hello cousin. Viking berserker Rollo is my great grandfather x a couple of dozen. Also known as Hrawlf the Walker - a man so large, no horse was big enough so he had to walk everywhere.

Landstalker Genghis Khan has more descendants than any other royal blood line. How many people have the surname Khan? Boris Johnson has an interesting blood line too, he can trace his blood line back to Edward the second. I find history so interesting don’t you?

Look into the work of Frank Salter and Henry Harpending. They provide reasonably good estimates of the average genetic relatedness of many national groups. Obviously places like Iceland are the closest. But I believe most English people can trace a common ancestor back to the 16th century. The population was so small and the rich/powerful people were far outbreeding the poor. The poor only started outbreeding the rich after the industrial revolution. Literally every native European has "royal blood". And literally every Englishman has an ancestral connection to William the conqueror. Its just that most can't prove it in writing.

Its amazing to think that Danny Dyer is the descendant of so much royalty. The depth of history behind his family is amazing. His ancestral background is far more interesting and legitimate than the British Royal Family's.

So glad I found this! So much fun! Danny is so lucky he has such an amazing group of ancestors. I love how he reallly takes on the role and goes all out. Need more historical content like this please!
