I think Tim based a lot of his characters on him. A lot of pasty Byronic manchildren. Victor from Frankenweenie is even a horror movie fan/science fair champ like Danny was as a kid.
He's is the best interviewee I've ever seen. Straightforward, from the heart, no BS or sarcastic attitude, or "why did you ask me such a dumb question?" Every question he responds respectfully, I am not used to it at all. Usually celebrities are sarcastic, balk at questions to spin them, etc.
Does anybody really believe the sexual harassment allegations? I contacted somebody on Instagram who knows the accuser and can verify that she’s a fucking psycho
Saw Oingo Boingo at the Greek in LA in 1987. Loved Elfman's work for years. Now, watching this interview segment I see that Danny Elfman has one of my favorite artist's works on the walls of his studio: Henry Darger. Amazing connection after all these years!
I’ve seen Oingo Boingo, and they were great, but Danny had already left. Somethings missing. A few months ago, my wonderful husband sent me a copy of a ticket to see Elfman on Aug 5. He is one of a kind.
I agree. I grew up in Southern California right when Boingo got popular. I remember buying Only a Lad in 82 or 83. He had, still has, an aura and charisma. Just magnetic in the stage.
He went to the dentist just to get skull x-rays so he could post something cool for Halloween and even his teeth are in great shape. And I’m pretty sure he showed the MRI of his brain at the concert and that looks healthy too. He’s obsessed with body scans, he was going to be a radiobiologist before he found out he was good at music.
Danny's Batman theme music is so iconic - it's so right for the film it's brilliant. His music is instantly recognisable before even seeing his name on the screen.
I can't imagine an easier interview, Danny Elfman seems as expressive in speaking about his career as he has been in his career. A joy to listen to, but his music and him speaking about his music.
May I ask about your medical issues. I am going through my own. I have had three back surgeries in 3 years and in horrific pain constantly. As a Side note, I ADORE Danny Elfman. He played at my high school in 83. Not that I just dated myself. 😂
@@michaelburk9171 I’m worried he’s going to not look so good after getting COVID though. I mean he’s going to have to take it easy with his exercise routine for a month or so.
It took me a long time to fall in love with his work. I never knew that he did the Simpsons theme. The first time I noticed his name, was in Men in Black (1). Now I'm 30 and I listen to music in a completely different way. The main theme for Edward Scissorhands is a masterpiece. Too bad people often say it's scary music. Death metal is scary music for me. I consider his music romantic, emotional, timeless. We can be glad to have such wonderful people as him or Tim Burton.
I'm 56 and remember buying Oingo boingo's first album Only a Lad in like 82 or 83. Love at first listen. Good to hear younger folks are finding Elfman's genius. His fill scores are amazing. Edward scissor hand was beautiful. I'd say his scores can be dark and moody. But not scary
I fell in love with his music since Spiderman (2002) soundtrack. He's so talented and unique 👌 Batman (1989) main theme, The Simpsons, Men in Black, Batman main theme for the animated series from the 90's, he has composed many classics.
What a great segment. Great interview. Fascinating person, and so many great scores. No matter your perspective, you can always tell a Danny Elfman score.
So hes basically watching a "silent movie" and has to figure out where to put in the pieces when the scenes play. There is so much to movie making that I have no effing clue. This was a decent interview. Danny seems properly insane to be what he is. Thanks for posting this.
It’s kind of like what I did with cartoon abridging, I would look at the scene with dialogue muted and imagine what I could make the characters say to make it funny, and what kind of random song or sound effects to play in the background.
Danny has a voice that naturally is so hypnotizing , I’d be listening to him read the ingredients on back of ketchup packets….and it’s still going to be entertaining
He is definitely s genius I’ve been a Danny Elfmsn fan as long as I can remember The Penguin in Batman (Danny Devito) is one of favorite characters and for Elfmsn to have written the score brought it full circle for me He is soooo underrated
He eats mostly pescatarian, gluten free, dairy free and sugar free and does intermittent fasting. Also does cardio every day and weight training. Healed torn rotator cuffs with exercise alone.
Actually Pixar never hired him. Danny suspects they hold a grudge against him for making so much noise bothering the Pixar people next door when the CalArts music instructor let him play gamelan.
I have a question. At the end of the video there’s a HUGE Halloween Background on the Huge Screen. Where can I get that Halloween Background for My Computer to use as Wallpaper????
Back in the 80s , I loved Oingo boingo, and a magazine gave the band a review. They called talentless hacks. I thought it was such a bullshit review. I am so glad Danny Elfman went on to prove the clueless hack so very wrong. I Love Danny ❤️ 😍
