I can imagine in many years from now. People everywhere believing in the afterlife when they hear the unmistakable sound of a tele being played by a maestro ringing out all around them and saying….”That’s Danny”. You and fender continuing to be together Danny? Forever I feel..

Danny Kortchmar know’s how to write great rock pop songs, and has a solid blues based approach on his guitar. Huge influence on me for the past fifty years.

I found it very cool that he mentioned Greta Van Fleet. I hope they’re just scratching the surface of what’s to come. Very talented young guys.

Talk about RIVETING! I love this guy because the music oozes from him and he knows what is really important - writing great songs...coming up with great arrangements...playing with other great players (or even average players). Notice there was no mention or talk of gear. I know that has it's own place, but in the end, it's all the other stuff that moves people.

What a treat ❤️ Thank you Dom Mr.Kortchmar was a HUGE part of my musical education...50 yrs on I'm still making a living recording...due in no small part to the integrity and ethic he and the rest of "the section" brought to the projects they played on. Never sounded like a session....always sounded like a great band cos they were.LISTENING and serving the song. Wonderful interview and as we say in Australia."What a nice Bloke"

Three associations he doesn't mention are his brief stint in legendary 60's band *The Fugs* , his later jazz-pop group *Jo Mama* (have both their albums; both great listens), and *The Section* (have both of their albums, too), the jazz-fusion band he formed with Russ Kunkel, Lee Sklar, and Craig Doerge. I had the pleasure of seeing The Section open for the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early 70's. Having already seen John McLaughlin, seeing Danny live was my primary motivation for going to the show, and they did not disappoint. Glad to see he's still active.

I first became aware of Kootch from my Fugs records. Then I started seeing his name as a session player on other records. He also mentions Charles Larkey

I had the immense honor of playing guitar for Carol King for one show and it was a wonderful experience. She is an amazing songwriter/musician/singer. She really left her mark.

Hello, which event or concert. I learned so much about the piano just listening to her play for B. B. King on Indianola Mississippi Seeds, the James Taylor albums, and her own. Best of luck with your music, and thanks for the post.

Da Kootch, a legend behind the scenes. Check out his solo on "Only Love Is Real" by Carole King for a lesson in tasty playing.

Hey Dom can you do an online interview with an old friend of Kootch? Andy Newmark. That would be fascinating . He now lives in Faversham in Kent.

guitar playing is great, but today every musician needs to learn how to write music, melodies, lyrics. They need to learn to use some software and how to record and mix. Do it all. Arranging, learn theory and harmony.. SIng also. Its not the 60s anymore

This dude may have an impressive discography from 40+ years ago. These days his playing is marginal at best. I've listened to his work with the "Immediate Family," his playing, especially the solos are hard on the ears.
