Why a backing track?

Duh! I have the original, not the cover on me MP3 but wouldn't mind having both.

Does anyone know what synth bass effect or synth was used on the don henley version of the track?

Ahhh, a cover me gotz on me MP3 player. When you can output sound like this ain't no one gonna keep too close of an eye on the lyrics. I'd like to hear this with, ohhhhhh, about 7 layers on the vocal - perhaps 3 @ 00:02/03/04 slower & 3 faster, 2nd slower with a tiny bit of echo - 3rd faster same amount echo - IMO. Bravo!
