Interesting choice to make Danny primarily a close-ranged character, but I like that he still has ranged moves. Was hoping his Ghost Wail was going to be in this! I wanted to main Danny, so it's nice to get a preview of his moveset. Nice to see a Ghost Zone stage, too.
danny phantom make sense to be a zoner but projectiles in this game aren't that great cause you can just grab or hit it right back so a zoner will die againt a grappler and any move that has a big hitbox
At this point, I'm starting to think all the other characters in the roster have it out for SpongeBob for cancelling their shows (aside from the Louds)
Admittedly, it was going to be hard to replicate his look in 3D, considering his shows style. That said, great job for most of it, including making his bangs change sides wherever he faces.
Totally!! I love that all his signature moves are here- I just want his signature voice too! I’m certain someone will mod in some voices at some point, and if no one does I’ll take it into my own hands. >:3 Also, I love Omniverse!!
I have absolutely no idea why they went with essentially no sound effect for the wail. You don’t even have to use a person’s voice, just modulate a screech sound effect or ANYTHING, at least for the fully charged one.

Out of all the fighters that's has been previewed so far he seems like the strongest. His huge hit box. Annoying and fast projectile, the ability to stall in mid air to mix up his recovery options and they thought it was a great idea to give him combo options. . . . I see a nerf coming 👀

looks pretty cool! Character looks solid with his speed and movement, I'll give vid reviews/thoughts soon. Also, this isn't related to danny, but I think it'd be cool if his stage had a hazard's off variant (nothing on the ceiling) so that more stages could be tournament legal
I wanted to main Danny as soon as he was shown in the launch trailer and this showcase seals it for me So many great references to the show and his moveset looks so fun to use. Can't wait until October 5th!
Agreed Danny was the one I felt that had the most unique move set since he had so many powers in the show tho wish Danny would've been able to do a body take over and pretty much control other players for a short duration
Danny is almost certainly going to be top tier. A super low % kill move, absurd combo carry, an incredible projectile even if it is capped at two on screen, and an extremely long range recovery special on top of his very high jumps? Yikes. Imagine if Melee Shiek had a Wolf laser and a chargeable on-demand Finishing Touch.
@@JoshTheValiant yeah I agree that he might be top tier( he has movement tech and stuff like that) but I don’t think that super low percent kill move won’t really be reliable vs good opponents honestly. It will hit sometimes if your lucky but vs someone good I don’t see it landing. Everything else is fine
I know this game doesn’t have the best soundtrack in the world, but can we all agree that this stage’s song slaps so hard?! Also Danny looks super fun to play as! EDIT: To clarify, I personally like a lot of the tracks we’ve seen so far, but the devs themselves have said on discord that they are unhappy with some stages’ music and will be changing some of them after launch. You don’t need to shield this game from criticism. No game is perfect and we all want the game to be the best it can possibly be, which means being tough on it when it needs us to be.
Ghostly wail looks busted just like in the show lol! Love it. His model is not perfect, but making a 3D model for DP does not sound easy. I am thankful he is in the game with a moveset adapted from his range of ghostly abilities. My only real complaint is that his moves as a whole appear like there is some kind of fluidity or expressiveness lacking... not quite sure. nothing but love and incredible work so far. Fenton thermos could have been a grab bc it sucks in? Ghost powers are OP
The games seems awesome except for the fact that Danny doesn't look as nice as the others, probably because Stephen Silver's (butch hartman's "style" falls into the category as well) unique flat style isn't too easy to transform into round 3d. Though I do see that they did their best, and that's pretty awesome too.
@@feliz5919 His moveset looks cool, I'll definitely try him out too. Now about his model, it's more on the picky side I guess, but his model from this showcase looks a little less detailed than spongebob for example and his colors don't blend perfectly. But at the end of the day, we're all just pretty excited about Danny, and if you end up playing him soon, I hope you have fun!
I think that the main thing that looks off is the hair and I believe that if they just raised and rounded off the top of the hair it would resolve that issue because the top of his head in general is just too flat, underneath the hair the top of Danny’s skull would just be flat here lol. He is difficult to capture in 3D though that’s for sure, I’ve tried myself too lol, but I found another 3D artist that made a fantastic model while staying pretty true to the style of the 2D art so it can be done at least
Danny can actually stall himself in the air while charging ghostly wail! Towards the end he runs a little off the stage and floats above SpongeBob grabbing ledge while charging the wail.
by far the most interesting character they’ve showcased imo. his fair is ridiculous, and his air strong up and down look like so much fun to move with. them being able to snap to ledge and ledge cancelable are ridiculous
Some of his moves make him fly in interesting patterns and he has the best jump. And a teleport which possibly has low lag? Cuz ya know everything in this game has pretty low lag.
Looking good! But honestly, Danny's intro before a match could'v been a lot better. Why not have him appear in his human form and then transform like how he does in the show?
Because they would have to add a human model just for this, which they would probably rather avoid. Also the implication of the transformation could get messy. It seems the only one who gets an extra in their entrance is SpongeBob.
Danny Phantom Gameplay did not disappoint. It felt like i was watching an episode of the cartoon. His gameplay seems like he'll be a mixture of zoning, keepaway style. He might be one of the quickest characters too. Job well done 😁👏👏
Seriously can't stop watching the real match gameplay. Feels like this character was made just for my playstyle. He also seems to have the best animations of the cast too. Only thing he needs are voice lines and it'd be perfect.

I’m really surprised that there wasn’t an Invisible/Clear Danny Phantom move or reference here. Feels like he got less references than the other characters but is more fun to play
I love everything about this! You guys did a great job with Danny from his move set and even his theme for the stage took me back to the kick ass soundtrack from the show. I can't wait to main him!

@@ShaulaXNinja The roster is so cool, but I think we need a few villains like Plankton and Mr. Crocker. Dib would be cool, but like you said, he just isn't as popular as Zim.
Really loved the showcase, I just wish his entrance was him coming in normal and going ghost, it seems spongebob is the only one with the unique entrance.
They also said that voice acting would be put into consideration, so they could be even more faithful to the show and have him say "going ghost" as well.
Finally glad that Danny was shown off, still gonna main him but too bad he has Zelda/sheik Up special thought it would be similar to April’s where he gets ghost tail and flys for a short time and can cancel it but this is good to. His movement heavies are very nice and gonna be weird to get use to
I've been waiting for this demonstration and it was a payoff. :) Thank you for this demonstration, GameMill, and kudos to Mr. Villalobos for providing the inside scoop on the iconic half-ghost. As the protagonist of my favorite Nicktoon, Danny is certainly a character I was interested to learn the attacks for and I love all of the references made to his powers like cryokinesis and the ghostly wail. :D The Ghost Zone stage, though a predictable choice, looks great too. If I get the game, I'll definitely want to play as him now and again. :) I just wish his girlfriend Sam could also get in on the action as a fighter. I might still get the game though, even if she doesn't get in.
@@Cooe. I already knew that and have pointed it out more than once. Keep in mind the video is still on GameMill's account and they're in collaboration with promoting the game. That's why I was acknowledging both. I don't want people trying to remind me of clear-as-day technicalities.
THE WAIL!!! WOOHOO! I was expecting it as a super until I realized there's no Supers in this. Box Ghost was a nice addition! The Thermos being his F-Smash is GREAT and I love how the Ring attack is a reference to him transforming! Didn't expect the frost to be featured as much... Nice touch! His stage theme slaps! Classic DP techno in the back and a MEAN guitar riff on the front! Glad he's not a zoner! (Though if anything, that makes me a little afraid for Aang and Korra... Zim might be stage control, though, so he's good!)
I feel like the thermos could’ve been implemented in a more creative way. Like imagine sucking opponents into the thermos and being able to shoot them into walls, projectiles, off the stage, etc
I noticed that his jab is actually a really obscure refrence to the attack of the toybots DS game. His jab in that game is identical to how it is here.
It looks like most of his moves have been incorporated A cool suggestion I have is for the neutral special to be a charge attack, where the first one is ghost energy and the max charge is ice energy. Another neutral special/strong neutral attack suggestion could be Intangibility, which could act like a counter move.
