UW basketball Head Coach Danny Sprinkle reunited with former Husky RaeQuan Battle at his introductory press conference. Sprinkle coached Battle at Montana State.
This was all I needed to see to believe with 100% faith that Sprinkle is the right guy to finally build off of the success and push the standards for the basketball program even higher from the Romar era. Especially when in order to do that he needs to recognize how Gonzaga has been able to build their program from Mark Few being hired in 1999 when their most famous alumni John Stockton was at his career apex up to 2006 where they were the #4 team with Adam Morrison/Rony Turiaf/Jeremy Pargo before bein upset in the Sweet 16 before taking another leap in 2015-2017 where they went to the Elite 8/Sweet 16/National Championship Game before they took another big step in getting Jalen Suggs and Chet Holmgren level recruits while making the National Championship undefeated. And recognize that UDUB should do that at even a higher level with their budget especially with the football team’s success but also in maximizing UDUB’s connection to the grassroots basketball culture in the SeaTac area when UDUB basketball as a brand on its own has grown from Marlon Waynes starring in the movie “The Sixth Man” where the main characters are UDUB hoopers, to now where Dejounte Murray is the best defensive PG in the NBA as an All-Star on a max contract who’s from South Seattle while 2x All-Star and Legend Isaiah Thomas is serving as a leader for the Phoenix Suns.
