I've got many Danny stories but one of my favorites is when we were friends and he let me live with him for a while. The first pro contest he entered after his neck injury he left the house for the airport telling me he was gonna win the contest. I honestly didn't think he was gonna win the contest. When he got back we met at the Kona bar in Solana Beach to party and he was so sparked about winning !! I always knew he was a special person but this solidified that he was a rare human . What an incredible episode. Chris, Rog, Jeron, Kelly- you guys have really built something special here. Having something like TNC to listen to while I'm at work, on my way home, whatever, has opened me up to so many stories and the history of skating. I got the dc video deluxe edition for my 12th birthday and it changed my life forever. I wrote a school paper that year saying danny way was my hero. Seriously. WTAF. I used to have a deck signed by Josh Swindell. He was one of the counselors at Woodward in 1990 when I attended. No joke, the deck was....the "Think Crime" deck on SMA. At some point I think I sanded off the graphics and did my own. That was before I found out about the murder.

I notice this with Chris sometimes myself with some of the guests .. Chris is a good guy and he does not want his guys, that him and the crew have in these sessions getting too emotional and regretting it later. He's looking out for his people, like a friend would. It's very nice and very selfless of Chris. The Skaters are not 'products' for him to capitalize on. They are fellow Skateboarders, a part of the brotherhood that we share, first ! These Champion Skateboarder's do not need to show us fellow Skaters their tears. These Champions can save those tears for their most intimate and personal relationships. We know, we know how gnarly Skateboarding is first physically and second politically at this Professional level. And there's obviously nothing wrong with crying. But Chris is a bro to the Skaters and helps them through when they are on the edge of a behavior ( crying, getting too emotional ) that the skaters might regret later .. We see you Chris and crew, you all are good people looking out for the Skaters in the most personal way. Much respect to the 9Club and one of the ultimate ultra competitors of Athletics in all realms of Sport for time continuum, Danny 'Super Soldier' Way. Danny Way, the Man the Myth, the Legend at 47 years old obviously still has the fire burning in him to push the limits. It's a testament to his heart as a Skater and as a Human Being . Bravo 🔥💜🔥

Mate that is a massive amount of your own opinions that you’ve projected onto this. I could be wrong, but as often as it happens that Chris steers a conversation towards everything being generally “good”, it makes me feel that he doesn’t know how to handle more complex emotions coming up in his interviews, like wouldn’t know where to go if they got there. With Jason D everyone was just along for the ride - Jason was able to dip in and out of child abuse and trauma without Chris having to say a word. I’m not interested in seeing all of my favorite skaters get emotional if they don’t want to, but these are fully grown men who’ve decided to come on a podcast to tell their life stories. Danny never talks in interviews and if he wants to go down a more emotional road, I don’t want Chris Roberts making a sudden left turn. I just want to hear these people where they currently are. I don’t think Chris has any negative intent in the slightest, but I do worry that he wouldn’t know what to do if the conversation got real, and we the audience suffer for that. He’s a great mediator, but I can appreciate a conversation that might go beyond the fact that Danny Way is a walking legend

Finally. Great interview guys. Nine club can now retire. Been a fan since '89. It's impossible to do justice to the magnitude, and importance of Danny Way's impact on Skateboarding, then, now, and in the future. The skill, determination, resilience, style, and constant push for innovation and annihilation of limits is probably unrivalled. Both on vert, in the street, and as a leader in the industry over decades, and generations of skateboarding, this guy has destroyed shit and inspired everyone. Questionable and VR were like atom bombs on the industry.. There's a before and after. Even next to Gonz, Hawk, Hosoi, Reynolds, Koston, Carroll, Mariano, Nyjah.. Danny Way is in a league of his own. Absolute legend. Hat tip sir.

Only one other person on earth can bring in two soty trophies. Danny Way is a true legend and one of the greatest to ever touch a skateboard. The word legend gets handed out all the time now by the young bucks but they have no understanding of the greatness Danny brings to the table.
