@@kaseyplaysguitar93 their screams are very different and cannot be compared with each other. If you have ever listened to the "stand up and scream" album from AA. You would notice it's far more intense and damaging to the voice than what Slipknot's vocalist is doing. I'm not trashing on slipknot but it just cannot be compared. I have seen both bands live by the way..
maybe his screams sounded so freaking good because they were fleeting. Like the brighter a candle burns you know. I hope he is getting vocal coaching so that he can enjoy screaming again. I am so greatful for his sacrifice
you're talking about more visceral. look up bmth 2014 graspop, especially the house of wolves part. it's terrible for your vocal chords from what i've heard but it's more raw and punk. if only there was a way to get that viscerality without slamming your folds together...maybe if you don't do it for long you can still save your voice. oli's voice is shot now; it's hard for me to get into anything the band released after amo with the exception of teardrops, ludens, dear diary and obey, but i'm extremely grateful for what we got. 16 years of some of the best metalcore/deathcore/alternative rock ever made. amo has got to be the best "metal band goes pop" record we'll ever have. bmth got me into metal, but the band is too weird for me now and they're mainstream alternative which is an oxymoron. i would love to have an EP surrounding MANTRA but figured i would have to do it myself and there used to be an extended fan made version of MANTRA by a guy named cherryxepsi but it's gone now for whatever reason. depressing
Crazy that he just recently in the past 2-3 years got help with how to do his screams correctly without damaging his vocal chords. Now we know why he barely has done it in the past few albums. Dude went thru hell for it.
Yeah. Weird to think as well that he was screaming incorrectly but was always praised for his screams. I for one always thought he was the best screamer in the 2010's.
It’s honestly not that surprising. Most metal core bands were just teenagers trying to make it. They didn’t have the money for medical professionals back then….

Fans tend to have this feeling of false ownership over their favorite bands and musicians. They fail to realize that this is a job, not just a hobby and a musician won’t make music they don’t enjoy making.

If so he is fucking awesome I watch a lot of his videos and have learned a lot from him seems like he's the dude that everybody talks to when they need some pointers! Dude this man is so goated. So many people hate now and it’s ridiculous to be blind to the fact or just not care that the reason you’re so disappointed is he literally broke his voice to make your favorite records. His cleans and newer screams are still great and the songs come together beautifully. Even if you’re not a fan of the newer stuff, it still sounds good, and you still have reckless and relentless/stand up and scream. Take it easy on em❤️

@@SFutureReacts it’s still screaming and I meant more so for techniques since Danny used bad technique for so long I think it’ll benefit him if someone like Will gives him a new approach to screaming. Hey, maybe they’ll write heavier albums from it😂
This isn’t Danny who posted this I hope you know so if you’re wanting advice from him you’ll have to get it elsewhere. But personally I’m the opposite. I don’t really “struggle” with lows but I have a harder time hitting lows consistently than I do highs and mids. I’d say just make sure you’re using the fry scream technique and practice with a higher pitched word. For example: I used “Yeah” to practice. Open your mouth wide when you scream “Yeah”, fry your vocals and you should feel the pressure of the scream towards the top of your throat! Hope I could help some 🤘🏻🖤
As someone who was going to do this one day, I totally understand the damage he has done by never doing things right, I was the same way even though I sounded just like Corey Taylor from the Iowa album, it wasn’t worth not being able to scream now, Danny could potentially not sing at all again if the wrong things done screaming.
I think that's a big factor in why so many unclean vocalists sound so similar these days. Back in the 2000s and early 2010s they were out there just going at it and it used more of their own voice, so you had so many unique sounding screams, but they were just wrecking their vocal chords. Nowadays everyone is very conscious of the detrimental effects of improper technique and it's led to them trying to "color inside the lines", so to speak. Been a while since I heard anything as unique as early Danny, Austin Carlisle, or Mike Hranica, just to name a few.

The heavy drinking didn't help as well too. There's definitely a way to do it that won't damage your throat and it's mainly treating your throat like a muscle and exercising it like any orher muscle.

I have always been a fan of metal core bands that sings with cleans I’m not huge on screaming because it does damage vocal cords and it causes surgery a lot of times and I wish people would understand that in the metal world and l love to sing to and I know how it is. Sometimes my voice is not there and other times I’m on because the voice changes people should go back and listen to bands back in the 80s the 70s listen to how good their music is with cleans and I appreciate Danny making this video to make people understand and realize that you could damage your voice box from screaming. Will ramos and alex terrible are doing just fine and 100's of other metal vocalists. it's not that it's "too heavy metal" for the human body... it's simple...danny used impropper technique and also ruined his voice with drinking and drugs in the past ontop of that bad technique. if he takes care of his voice and learns how to do use the right techniques and keep his voice relaxed. it will be something he can switch between with ease and no damage. many other vocalists can and so can he. it's something that takes time to develop.
I've been doing vocals since I was 7, I'm 31. Doesn't bother me, I can go for 9 hours and not have any issues. The latest album was lame. It was like nickelback and five finger death punch got smacked by seether. If you need somebody to do vocals I'm here.

I think the issue is AA were hugely popular when Stand up and Scream came out so they were touring heaps. He even did Vocals when he was sick which is probably the worse thing you can do.
there are tons of ppl that could of helped you. but you chose to turn your band into a boy band instead of staying on the path to becoming one of the greatest metalcore bands in history
What a little pony lmao Danny didn’t “choose” to turn “his” band into anything. They collectively made their music as a BAND. Ben has a huge part in how their music sounds.
@SFutureReacts Ben stated in an interview in 2015 after Danny left that Danny was the reason their sound changed like in from death to Destiny and he purposely sings in a southern USA accent instead of his natural British accent, also he said Danny was a hypocrite because Danny said asking alexandria lost its integrity and that's why he left to join his other band we are harlot and Ben responded saying Danny is a hypocrite because he is a British man using an American country accent singing country music even though he is British
