DAPOL 4S-041-001S class 5101 Large Prairie no. 5109
This locomotive (courtesy of Dapol) is being used in this film to evaluate the sound project to be send to Zimo in Austria for a production run of sound chips to be fitted to this range of engines.
These will be available from the manufacture direct.

Do you know if this is the same sound profile as the Mogul? Obviously a similar layout of loco but the sound profiles sound identical.

Could be better if there was room for a decent sized speaker! But, as you say, not bad.

It seems a problem loco with reports of bad running and stalling on points. Again QC problems. You're lucky with this sample !

My 2nd one, 4134, has the stalling feature. Finding out why today. Look out for the follow up video. It has to be something simple.............

Hi R & Keith, Is the loco just using the sugar cube speaker in the smokebox? Sounds great!

Hi Boa,the loudspeaker is a tiny sugar cube underneath the main circuit board which is located in the smoke box .there is no provision for a larger speaker anywhere in the engine .this is beceause the circuit board is a plug in unit-not just the chip,the whole damn thing.The contacts are incredibly small-it is just impossible to solder the 2 wires required for the speaker to the main board ,or indeed to the chip itself.

@@letzterinstanz I am surprized. According to Dapol it's just a straight Next 18 plug in & the sugar cube connects underneath the board.

@@BoaFilmsPlc It is. It does. But it is so small you won't get any bass out of it. You won't be able to fit a larger speaker anywhere else. Cheers, R.
