I think this is one of the best BJJ channels on RU-vid. Clear instruction, to the point, effective, and packs more into a video than almost anyone else.
I love the details given and the options to counter the counter of your submission. Very well thought to teach so that your prepared if he defense your attack so you can still attack with a combination
Always great content from you. So concise and technical. Excellent teaching. As a striker though, I would have liked to have seen a standing entry variant too. I try to get a standing darce all the time off of the clinch or off of certain traps -- I can't say I get it to work often, but its satisfying when I have. And even when it doesn't, forcing them to defend it usually opens up other options.
Great video! That technique you show at 7:30 in our gym we call that a Japanese necktie. I have shorter arms and I find this one easier to get against a larger opponent especially in the gi.👍
Even if it is partially a crank, it's fine in my opinion, if it still gets the tap. It is hard for me to offer much opinion without seeing how you're applying it, who you are training with, etc. There are a lot of variables that go into it.
As usual, great timing Professor, we just covered this in class over the weekend, you really demonstrated how ubiquitous this choke can be. Sorry to be that guy but the next thing I'm wondering is how to defend against this choke. What are the best, most effective counters?
As a general principle, getting separation between your arm and head is key. The John Wayne escape and belly down counters are good mid to late escape options. I’ll try to make a video on these
