the one ring with a seedborne muse omg hahaha. It's a good thing it got stopped but the snowball was already on the way. that was well played for all players and for zeb who opted to put a stop to it with demonic consult into orcish

With cathar commando seeing the play it does, and the threat of an indestructible One Ring always looming. Do you think we’ll see haywire mite starting to be played? Very similar, cheap, and exiles to get the ring. Could be something to consider

@@PlayingWithPowerMTG yeah, it’s commandos inclusion just made me think, maybe in some of the creature tutor decks it could be ran beside it. I’ve just been playing a good amount of historic, which is a very different axis, but i main deck it in a couple cause of the one ring’s popularity. And if more decks run the ring, it could be worth looking at.

Honestly, the threat of bowmasters existing alone means people are that much less likely to expect something like notion thief in your deck. Play the meta!

Wizards must have forgotten about you starting at 40 life in commander. I feel like the ring was supposed to be balanced around the fact that you have to pay an increasing amount of life. It’s still incredibly strong in 20 life formats, but 5 life for 5 cards is a hilariously bad downside

Im curious if this video is indicative that bowmasters is too strong for the format. If the only way to play around a bowmaster is to demonic consultation for your own bowmaster… maybe it is a bit much?

I don't think it is too strong. Drawing cards is an incredibly important part of magic in general, and cedh is no exception. There hasnt been a huge counter move to an opponent drawing gobs of cards at instant speed (maybe notion thief and the now banned hullbreacher) so bowmasters is it for now. Maybe the format needs a meta shift away from just dockside/thoracle/etc, and this channel shows a few of these different lines from time to time.

@@semicolon_cancer1243 i agree that card draw needs a punish, as realistically card draw tends to go unpunished. The part that makes me concerned is how it indirectly punishes the decks that dont draw cards the most. Blue farm for example tends to have many creatures with incidental “big butts” or their creatures etb and would love to then go to grave. Green decks that cannot draw cards for the life of them get punished really hard for the blue farms card draw. Tymna connects, and the first thing that gets sniped by bowmaster is the birds of paradise, meaning the card draw didnt actually get punished

It's also important that colors other than blue have ways to fight back against degenerate strategies. It's not healthy if all the answers to degenerate stuff is play blue yourself. So from a color balance perspective we need very powerful cards in non-blue colors that make people have to think more before going for broken combos.

how to beat bowmaster, same way people ended up beating monarchy just stop playing it or if your going to introduce it to the game have a way to lock your opponents from playing it IE start running TORPOR ORB effects.
