Here after the news broke that he died. This song still slaps as hard as it did 20 years ago! May your legend live on through this absolute banger, Darius! R.I.P.
Strangely affected by the news of Darius' passing. Back when reality TV shows were new and fresh, he had one of the most embarrassing debuts imaginable. The sheer courage and determination it must have taken to come back and try it all over again made me respect him, and then this absolute banger of a tune to show that he had more than just guts and the desire to be famous. Never heard anything but praise for him as a human being from those who met him, and glowing reviews for his theatre work. 41 is no age to die, but Darius you managed to make sure that 20 years after you were on the TV for a bit that I'm remembering you now with fondness and sadness. RIP king.
One word I keep hearing and reading about Darius death is heartbreaking. Not all celebrity deaths are heartbreaking, but Darius death is, because he was so full of love for everyone, plus he genuinely cared for people. You put that together with his gorgeous looks and immense talent, and the fact he would try anything, even if some would consider it embarrassing or whatever, his attitude was to give it a go, and so what if it does not work out, you could always try something else, or try again. However, the heartbreaking part is when he said that he wanted to be famous enough so that he reached the point where he was in a position to give back to people, and he was true to that promise.
@@aprilapril2 There are many ways to know whether or not you have truly made an impact on people's lives, and one of the best ways to find that out is when comedians start to recreate what you did, but in a humorous way. I found a very funny You Tube video of that, which comes from years ago and shall find it and put a link to it in these comments. Yep, even though the real man has heartbreakingly been taken from us, he will always be with us via the amount of people who cover his songs, even those which are updated with modern technology, Darius still gets the credit for that because they are his songs. I cannot stand the thought that he is gone, it is heartbreaking, but my thoughts are also with his parents, who must be suffering intolerable pain, which will never go away. I think even more people can find out now what an immense talent Darius was, he had incredible amounts of talent, and an endless amount of love for everyone in his life and the rest of us, who are not in his life. Also what is remarkable about Darius was that, despite the fact he loved nothing more than to give to people everything he had to give, he was NEVER interested in having his ego massaged. Watch his reactions on videos to when he is told just how gorgeous and wonderful he is, especially about being gorgeous - he is absolutely and genuinely disbelieving and humble about it, he could not believe the amount of love there was, and still is, out there for him, and that is part of what makes his loss so devastating. RIP Darius, gorgeous and legendary angel
The baby one more time thing was embarrassing. This for a debut single and album title track was truly amazing. I've adored this bloke for what? 22 years? Regular youtuber of this video, its always been a fave. Cards on the table: Darius to win over will whatsisface and g-g-g-gareth gates
I'm a metal fan, however there is something so uplifting in this song and it brings me back to an era when life was normal and fun. RIP Darius, you will always be remembered. Xxx
Same. I'm a 50 Yr old guy. Metal and 90's Hip hop are my thing. This is a million miles from what I'd normally listen too but this tune always really makes me happy 🤷 Only here because I just found out he'd passed.
Very gifted, Darius reached the Pop Idol Top 3, which says a lot. Glad he made it on West End.. tragic he's gone n left this early. Hope he finds the Peace he's always yearned for. Sing on, Colourblind Boiy!
@@victorallright2331 well, with this one stratospheric hit he achieved more than you will ever do in your entire life even if you live to 1000 years old. Tip: the decorum is to be generous about someone when they've died.
Everytime I listen to this song, a wave of nostalgia hits me, taking me back to 2002. Back when things were so much brighter and simpler. RIP Darius. 💔
It had been a while since I'd listened to this, but his passing really came out of the blue and I'm reminded of how brilliant a song this is. R.I.P Darius
You won’t find a better top 3 on a UK talent show than Will Young, Gareth Gates & Darius. He was unbelievably talented and I hope he knew that #RIPDarius
I was thinking that earlier, pop idol was so HUGE that Darius coming third was a big deal! And this is a tune, always one I play every now and then. Will always be tinged with sadness now. Bless him.
That first series of _Pop Idol_ was so surreal.. especially the finals. It was a legit talent search with serious contestants. WAY better than _X Factor_ - which was just a wackily-edited clown show, centred around Simon Cowell (and designed to be).
Can’t believe the news of his passing, I was around 15 when this came out and I had such a crush on him! I still listened to this and ‘Incredible’ from time to time as they remind me of great times in school. His first audition may have been mocked but it’s iconic and he proved them all wrong. Not many people on these talent shows can say that! What a star, RIP Darius ❤️
RIP Darius! You made this crazy South African teen dance with joy, sing offkey and fall in love with your voice! As an adult now, I still came back to this song many a times and I am so heartbroken to read of your death! Vale, Songbird!
So very sad that Darius has died. Back in 2013, I was standing in a busy theatre lobby in London when all of a sudden I was aware of a VERY tall, dark and handsome man standing right next to me. The most handsome man I have ever, and likely will ever, meet. He apologised for "pushing in" and explained he wanted to talk to some of the theatre staff and at that point I realised it was Darius, who I'd watched every week on Pop Idol when I was at school. I cannot begin to describe what a beautiful way he had about him, how humble and kind he was to everyone he spoke to...he seemed like a genuinely lovely, charming, generous and decent man and clearly everyone who knew him adored him. He was also incredibly talented as a leading man in musical theatre with undeniable stage presence and generosity towards his fellow actors. He never really got the recognition he deserved as a performer nor as one of the "good guys" in the industry. I cannot imagine the level of loss and devastation his friends, colleagues and most importantly his family must be feeling at his tragic and sudden death at such a young age. So very sad. Rest in Peace, Darius Campbell 🙏🏻
I saw him in a Tesco near Covent Garden many years ago, he was a very handsome man and he was quite happily chatting to the staff who were crowding him. Great song and Rushes as well, so sad that he has passed away so young.
I am not in the habit of bursting into tears because a celebrity has died, but I did burst into tears when I heard of the death of Darius, because it was so tragic and because he truly was a gentleman who cared for everyone, and it is because of that, that I burst into tears, as well as the loss of his incredible talent.
Can't believe Darius has passed away. I remember him on pop idol. Loved this song when it came out ans randomly listened to it over the years. He had such a lovely voice and seemed such a nice man. RIP Darius, your music will live on and all the lives you touched with it x
Not only handsome, but 2001 he was the only contestant to sit there and tell Simon Cowel he was wrong AND proved it. I was shocked and saddened this morning to hear of Darius's passing. Still play this banger 20 years after it came out as I loved it then and still love it now. Too young and before his time! RIP Darius, fly high ❤️❤️
Darius, you brought us plenty of laughs and joy at my house back in the day. You were misunderstood with your cringy auditions on pop idol. You were my mums favourite, I remember her buying your album around 2002 she loved this song. Played it over and over again to the point it drove me insane 😂 Sadly she passed away in 2014 but listening to this always reminds me of those good times we shared. Just want to say thanks Darius for giving me that memory I still share of her. RIP my friend.
I will always remember Darius for being laughed at when he said "I will have a number 1 single and a top 10 album by the time i'm 30", and guess what, he went away, worked hard and did exactly that.
That puts Darius in the same league as another person who was legendary and loved the world over, who used to do the same thing. He used to predict the round in which his opponent would go down, and he did it. That person was Muhammad Ali. Not bad company to be in.
The only person who had the balls to tell Simon Cowell he was wrong and to shove it, then told the man he would have that hit record and prove him wrong, he worked hard and wiped the smirk from Cowells face. RIP Darius
I’m heart broken. I cried recently for Olivia Newton John, whom I absolutely adored, but this has hit me harder and I can’t stop crying. She battled Ill health for a long time and lived a very full live. He was just 41! No age. I loved the way he turned things around from the “hit me baby one more time” on pop stars to coming on pop idol with everything to prove and from being the underdog won everyone around to reach the top 3! I Followed his career from afar and felt really proud of him, especially as I voted for him. He seemed to have the world at his feet. Just absolutely devastating!!!! 😢
Loved this man. What a likeable, brilliant and humble artist. I cried last night when I heard he had passed away unexpectedly. Was hoping to see him in a musical, the reviews show how he blew the critics away. Same age as me (41), far too young and talented to go too soon. RIP Darius 🌹
This wonderful man. Actually saw him on tour - he was smart, funny, warm and a great performer. A little piece of my uni days will rest with you. Thank you for some great memories 💙
Its 4th August 2024 when I have learnt that Darius Danesh passed away 2 years ago... I used to listen to this and Rushes non-stop when I was a teenager and honestly, none of them have that kind of charisma anymore, they don't make them like this anymore! Incredibly talented, what a voice you had Darius. You left this world way too soon... As if a piece of my past has disappeared as well. Just glad that I will remember these lyrics for my entire life, and ask me to remember one song from 2024 and I'll fail, such was the magic of music back then
RIP Darius! What a talented person, what a genius song - see you in the resurrection, where "death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore, the former things have passed away" (Revelation 21:4) 🙏🏽💐
I’m so sorry that Darius has passed away. He was incredibly talented with his music and also in his stage performances in productions like Chicago. So many people who were lucky enough to meet or know him are posting what a great and friendly person he was. Rest In Peace Darius. Sincere condolences to all of Darius’s loved ones.
I always come here to listen to this... my boyfriend of 3 years died of a sudden brain hemorrhage.. I was 18 he was 21 and I'm now 36... this was his song for me and still chokes me up to this day.. every now and then I come back and listen to pick me up 🎶
I do so sometimes, but I still miss her.....it's been 15 years she has gone to where no one can go by thyself...she died in my arms ! Regrets ; i can't say how much I love her but we felt the same way 😶
What a mass shock, just sat on holiday playing colour blind, what a great song this was, a truly talented guy, and will be sadly missed , such charisma and a great singer , my heart goes out his family and loved ones , God Bless
Beautiful Darius , loved you on Pop Idol, great memories of my daughters and I cheering for you , so many years ago they are grown up. Thankyou for the memories you gave us. May you rest in peace, taken too young xx 🙏 condolences to your family and friends Rip.xx
The world is somehow devoid of colour now he has gone, he was a good guy and absolutely talented! He realised his dream and packed alot into the short time he was with us💕God Speed Darius Xx
Brilliant song from an artist who really was one of a kind. Seen as "cocky" on Popstars, he really did work hard to prove the doubters wrong, especially "Nasty Nigel" Lythgoe and Simon Cowell; in that he could be successful as an artist, but more importantly with his own music. I have happy memories listening to this song and 'Incredible (That's What I Meant To Say)'. Still in shock that he's no longer with us -- gone far, far too soon!! RIP Darius, thank you for your music and kind personality.
Was never a fan of Pop Idol or any talent shows. I'm a 90s Indie boy but i can always appreciate a good song and this is a very good song that's brilliantly written and performed. I've listened to it for years on my playlists and it's always been a great tune that pops up randomly, especially in the car where we've sang it as loud and happy as we could..... a very sad loss. Love to his family.
So shocked to hear the news.R.I.P man.Brilliant song and album. He also had one of the most iconic and memorable moments in reality TV history with his 'hit me baby one more time' haha.R.I.P sir.
Great summer song. One day a future megastar will cover this song and it will be reborn again for a future generation. Well done Darius. So much backbone in this lad.
Came here after hearing the sad news of Darius' passing. I used to listen to this song so much when it first came out, it's a shame that I had forgotten about it. Hopefully whatever he was going through, he's at peace now.
I was saddened to hear the news that Darius Campbell Danesh had passed away at such a young age.. A particular song by him has massive meaning to me, It was chosen by Thomas for the song played at my late sons funeral in 2003.. Somebody had told Darius about this he was at an event in Weston Park in 2003 and we were called over the tanoy and he then spent some time with Tom.. such a kind and unassuming young man. The song that has great meaning is Colourblind by Darius Danesh. RIEP Darius xx
WOW I'd forgotten how good this tune is! Had a huge smile on my face the whole way through and remembered all the words 😊💕 Great memories came back to me too. Thank you Darius. God bless 🙏
Lovely tributes over here to this young Glasgowan. What makes me smile even though I'm sad about Darius' passing, is that kids in 2002, now young adults, grew up listening to his music..the cycle never ends.. he lives on in his music, he lives on in the lyrics!
People who knew him in Scotland said he was a kind, generous and funny guy. One of my friends met him at a battle of the bands competition, said he was lovely and self-deprecating. Sad to hear he’s passed. RIP 🏴🇮🇷
So sad to hear he has passed away. I have great memories of summer 2002 with this song played everywhere. Everyone who met him has said what a gentleman he was and how he had time for anyone who wanted to speak to him. Rest in peace lovely man.
I followed Darius career from the Word go, this song means so much more now. Devastated that he's passed so young. Thanks for your fantastic talent Darius, God Bless and Rest in Peace
RIP Darius. You lived your life pursuing your dream. I hope you achieved all you wanted. You will be missed. I remember the fun you brought to Pop Idol, especially your version of Baby One more time. I hope you find peace and joy now. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great tune, great lyrics and it came off the back of getting one over on Simon Cowell. Still a fantastic song to this day and its extremely sad to hear of his passing, at least he leaves this and other brilliant songs as a lasting legacy for others to enjoy.
I went to watch Girls Aloud many years ago at Lincoln Castle and Darius's set just blew them out of the water as the supporting artist. He had so much energy, put his all into the set and seemed so happy to be there. Rest in peace.
What a colorful song. Loving his carefree style of singing. He got the right vibes for this album. It is so timeless. Rest in peace 😩 Gone, but forsure the tunes are being immortalized with your fan.... he captures the audiences right from the first time enter the field
Oh man....this one hurts 💔🏴 When everyone laughs at you, when everyone doubts you... The only thing that matters is believing in YOURSELF. YOU follow your dreams & NEVER give up chasing YOUR dreams. R.I.P Darius 🏴🙏🏽
I remember being obsessed with this song when I was younger, and nostalgia has brought me back more than once before now. So sad that he died, and quite young. RIP Darius.
