The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Nepali: दार्जीलिङ हिमालयन रेल), also known as the "Toy Train", is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in West Bengal, India. Built between 1879 and 1881, the railway is about 78 kilometres (48 mi) long. Its elevation level varies from about 100 metres (328 ft) at New Jalpaiguri to about 2,200 metres (7,218 ft) at Darjeeling.

For those interested, the music is called "Chaiyya, Chaiyya Bollywood Joint" which is a remix of the original song "Chaiyya Chaiyya" composed by A. Rahman, which originally appeared in the 1998 Hindi film Dil Se.... This remix was written for the 2006 Spike Lee movie, Inside Man.

"Kasto Mazza" song in Darjeeling Toy Train.. The composition of the song is beautifully matched by the dream like vintage toy train in every frame and angle. So much so, that we filmed our own version aboard the same train that was boarded by Saif Ali Khan & Vidya Balan. When I was to Darjeeling my train was detrailed in this place 4:04😄😄 ..Later vintage train was behind me and after repair my journey starts.... Very very wonderful full experience...Now I'm remembering those memories...Thanks lot😂😂🤣🤣

Chaiya Chaiya was not shot at Darjeeling, it was shot in Ooty TamilNadu (We also have 1 UNESCO mountain rail)

But original 'chaiya chaiya' song was shooted at N.C hills (presently Dima hasao ) region of assam. when there was meter gauge railway track in between Lumding to Badarpur.

Recently I had visited Darjeeling.....but somehow felt the beauty of the nature missing...it has simply become over crowded. Only the outskirts....that too which we could experience through ropeway gave a bit of respite... otherwise....you feel lost...and apart from uphill and downhill roads..it seems like any other city .. CROWDED

Chal Chaiya Chaiya from Dil Se is shot actually in Ooty Railways Train with X Class steam loco. Not in Darjeeling Railways Train with ZDM_6 diesel loco.

Darjeeling needs development. Despite being a great tourist destination the roads were broken and sanitation was missing. Authorities should look into this.
