I read We Were Villians two years ago and I thought it was definitely dark academia. I think that was when I was first exposed to dark academia and that's part of the reason I loved it so much because I felt like I'd never read another book like that before. You made me really want to pick up The Secret History. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews for both Catherine House and Ninth House. One of my favorite booktubers talked about Catherine House in a recent video and compared it with Mexican Gothic. I'm so happy you found a new genre you love! Unfortunately I don't have any books to recommend but I hope you find some to satisfy your craving. happy reading!
I loved hearing your thoughts on Dark Academia and I’m so intrigued to dive in sometime in the future! The name Katherine House has such a mysterious vibe IMO! Soooo intriguing! I want to see whatever bookish videos spark joy for you! Anything your heart desires, I’m here for it!
Thank you! I HIGHLY recommend The Secret History, although with your science background you may enjoy Catherine House more! You are the sweetest. Thank you :)
Oh wow! Well I certainly recommend it if you enjoy books that have a kind of dark and spooky vibe (while not being gruesome or terrifying like a horror novel).
I haven’t had the best experience with dark academia so far but If We Were Villains sounds really intriguing! Ninth House was sadly my least favorite book of 2020, but it had a cliffhanger so I’ll probably pick up the sequel! 😂 I loved Vicious a lot, though it’s definitely not as much of a dark academia vibe as some of the others on your list!
I just wanna see more videos from you full stop any thing you create as long as it makes you happy 😊 I really wanna check out both Catherine house and if we were villains 💜❤️ I’ve also been falling in love with dark academia recently and two that I would recommend are Bunny by Mona Awad and A Deadly Education By Naomi Novik. 🌸
I’ve been getting more and more into this genre as well. I have seen it a lot in film, but I didn’t realize how expensive it was in Books, until of course book tube LOL
