The fact that both Dark Alliance 1 and 2 had a frankly all-star cast is ACTUALLY crazy. Tony Jay, Cam Clark, and Fucking Legate Lanius (Mitch Lewis) is out of this world. These games are cult classics in my opinion, and deserved a remake/remaster with maybe full character customization and further lean on its DND roots. (Maybe even a port to 5E) Great video, man. You deserve way more attention than you're gettin ❤👍
Appreciate it! I totally agree too, these games could do with a good remake that stays faithful to the source. Good point about the cast too, I didn't even look into that.
Recently played through the first Dark Alliance and this one (as well as Champions of Norrath, which uses the same engine) in co-op. The gameplay in all of them is pretty much the same all the way through, but in a world that needs more co-op campaigns, they're not bad options by any means.
I had a lot of fun with this. I played both of the PS2 Dark Alliance games (My best friend owned the first, and I got this one then got my own copy of the first later), and both Champions of Norrath games (Another friend owned them, and brought them to our weekly gettogethers at my best friend's house while I brought Dark Alliance II) and this is easily my favorite of the four. Onne of the biggest reasons was class selection. When I play D&D tabletop or the video and PC games I usually play as a Rogue or Thief depending on edition, a Bard, or an Artificer. When I played Everquest for a couple of years I played as a Rogue or a Bard. Of the four games this is the only one which lets me play as one of my preferred classes for their setting.
Remember me and my friend who already played Dark Alliance for couple of years trying to play Dark Aliance 2 on extrime for the first time and finding that it's impossible and that you can do that only after finishing game at normal than with saved characters on hard and even than you have to finish some tutorial wich wasn't easy at all to be alowed to play on extrim but after finishing it for 5-6 times on extreme you would become practicly immortal and could run pretty fast through the game. After finished the game for 30-40 times I was playing it on my own without a map and I was playing this game for 5 years almost every day in hope there will be Dark Aliance 3 for PS3 it didn't happen so I gave up my two PS2 and one PS3 to kids from neighbors and I didn't play any game for about 10 years but if there was Dark Aliance 3 I would maybe buy PS4. This game was unique because it was the first game that you could play with your friend as a team not agaist him This video explains the game pretty well but you really have to play it to understand it.
One thing that you didn’t mention that I always thought was neat is that each of the 5 playable characters has their own personal quest that unlocks more skills to invest in
I'm so pissed this game never got a sequel, me and my brothe have beaten the living shit out of this game back when we were kids, both coop and solo, we sadly never got the first one but did we enjoy our time with this one.
Things like the weapon crafting, little more variety on level choosing (+ special level for each character in Chapter III) and even things like the armor looking different on each character are the reason i play this part way more often than the first, although the first part has a higher nostalgia worth for me. Its also one of the few games I actually enjoy playing on the highest difficulty.
The Drow was my favorite character. Loved turning her into a melee powerhouse. I hope they put it on PSN one day so I can beat it as the moon elf, cleric and dwarf. Used to own both Dark Alliance games and both Champions games, but now I only have the first Dark Alliance. :(
-BD Dark Alliance -BD Dark Alliance 2 -Champions Of Norrath -Champions: Return To Arms are the best ps2 games, (not just ARPG's) and i will not shy away from saying it.
Before you talk to Randall in the purple wyrm inn you can talk to the guard captain he will ask you to go down to the sewers and clear it out similarly to what you did in the first one. This can be done with all characters
I love the second way more then the first I like how I'm act 3 you can unlock all new skills and it's so much longer only downside is it's a little to easy definitely suggest to play on hard.
i cant believe you had to kill Sleyvas in the sequel. he deserves better. although i have to admit, i would take immortality and power over whatever your character wants in DA2.
To be honest, I played with the newly released pc version, and even in that version some of your attacks simply do not hit the final boss... Though I don't know if its a system issue or design choice
It's probably a sudden steep stat requirements or a mistake in the programming of Mordoc's defense. There's a stat called "base attack" you can see in your stat screen. This stat is relevant to your hit chance: the higher it is, the more chances you will have to actually land a hit on your enemy(there is some math mathing between your base attack and your enemy's Armor Class(or just plain defense\armor) stat). The same goes for armor - if you have a very high stat in armor, the enemy with low attack will have a REALLY low chance of actually hitting you. And, to be a bit more thorough in this explanation, your AC goes up with the armor + it's enchantments + some of the skills + Dexterity stat. And Base Attack goes up by 1 each level + the weapon type and it's enchantment level + Strength stat + some weaponry skills. Anyway. Every enemy in the game have their own AC and Base Attack stats. So your and their hit chance stat mostly depending on some math between your attack and their defense and vise-versa. So it looks like in the final battle Mordoc just has way higher AC that he should have, making your hit rate kinda low. OR you were underleveled\underequipped for the battle.
It would look a lot better if you simply edited your voice to say "dispute" instead of "delay". Doing that will separate you from the lower-level video makers.
