Regarding glues, I tried several superglues and found 'Everbuild, Stick 2, Industrial Grade' superglue worked the best on a range of plastic figures from different manufacturers. Regarding flash someone in Airfix Magazine in the 1960s or early 70's suggested a needle in a cork heated over a tea-light candle and I have used that ever since. Not really what you are looking for but I have used this set (and the second set as well) as 'space pirates' and Dark Dream Studio space battles sets 1 and 2 as 'space marines' with some ancients as civilians and Linear A Silk Road in Ancient Times for the traders at the spaceport. The old Airfix paratroopers can be used for space soldiers (they are all armed with tommy guns so just trim off the magazine and paint the weapon white) but the DDS troops are better (you get 16 in 8 poses with a couple of large 'walkers' in set 1). The Macfarlane HALO: Micro Ops were also to 1:72 scale, and very nice, but those are no longer in production.

On this type of plastic, ive had more luck using very fine percision snippers removing flash instead of normal knife and file methods, another tip to keep it from tearing is to get it warm, I actually use the tip of my glue gun to heat it and then snip, works excellent for me.

A set of tip i found for these polythene type plastic figures was (1) wash thoroughly in warm water with a spot of washing up liquid (dish soap) to remove some of the greasy feeling (2) let them dry naturally before undercoating (3) mix up some white wood glue such as evostick with water until it is as thin or thinner than normal paint and then brush it on the model. It dries clear and fairly hard but with a little flexibility. It makes a good base for painting and then (4) apply your primer undercoat. I tend to use a Halfords acrylic grey spray or a Games Workshop primer. Havent used it on these but on models such as Italeri, Redbox etc it works well.

I've got a few of these painted up now and have found that the paint sticks pretty well with some primer. I've read about using thinned woodglue too, but haven't tried it yet myself.

I use Dark Alliance Stalkers/Zombies/Survivors sets with the board game Zombies!!! from Twilight creations, As the character playing pieces and zombie mix, I don't use them for 1:64/20mm Car Combat games like Dark future or Gaslands, As I find the plastic they are cast in is to soft and bendy, hard to paint. As for the miniatures I do use "Green miniatures Madcars" "Stan johansen miniatures 20mm road warriors" and the classic citadel miniatures Dark Future minis.

I've used the zombies from Zombies!!!!!! for Gaslands but I hadn't thought of using these for Zombies!!!!! They would be a perfect scale to hunt through the city in that game right enough! I'd love to get a hold of Dark Future, but it's not happened yet. I've painted up at least one of these Stalkers now (check out the Attic Raiders Twitter if you want to see pics) and I've found them not too bad to paint actually, though paint does rub off the sharp edges rather easily if you're not careful.

@@AtticRaidersRetroReviews Cool! Yeah, I highly recommend getting yourself a copy of Dark future, It is a great 1:64 scale Car Combat rules set, Also the old Battlecars game by games workshop is good, though it is a smaller 6mm scale, But easily enough to upsacle to 1:64.

What printer did you use for your 3D printed figure in gray? Thank you!

Hi, I did not print those figures - I bought them from eBay (also available on etsy) - so I don't know what they've been printed on. :)
