As we discussed in the comment thread below - yours is most likely the current R-A-W interpretation, but I do hope that this is just a typical example of GW missing something important in the rules because it’s not wide spread enough to be FAQd. It’s a very cool and interesting interaction, far from being broken in vast majority of cases so I’d love to see it fully legalized

@@dragma907 how is that out of phase, it allowed the unit to turn 1 deep strike, and that is it.

@@vfminiatures I think GW did comment on it, in Leviathan rules they said that the rules were written the way they are to try and make order out of the sequence. I believe the reason it is not allowed in tournaments is because oh 10 man Term Squads getting too far ahead on Primary and Secondary because of position against smaller army sizes. Its not so troublesome against armies with good numbers.

@@vfminiatures it's said that you can deploy a deep strike unit in the reinforcement step of you first turn. It's difficult, with Rapit Ingress in thinks it's so op you have to play it with 10 Terminators, without it's kinda bad to use imo.

If I understood you correctly and you mean commission painting - I’d say it’s for those people whose time is worth more than the hours it would take to learn the skill and paint like this.

As far as I’m aware currently you can if there is a rule that allows you to be set up in turn 1 (dw assault) which then overrides Rapid Ingress strat limitation

@@vfminiatures Sadly it doesn't let you, Deathwing assault only lets you deepstike in YOUR first,second or third movement phase. Rapid ingress is in your opponent's movement phase

The wording of Rapid Ingress in my opinion doesn’t prohibit you from using such abilities to allow you to arrive T1. Rapid ingress says “Your unit can arrive on the battlefield as if it were the Reinforcements step of your Movement phase.” therefore we are treating opponents turn as our turn, his phase as our phase. This definitely needs clarification imho, and thank you for the vigilance!

@@vfminiatures confirmed it definitely doesn't work. You can't rapid engress a unit holding that enhancement turn 1. It's a victim of the "out of phase" bull crap that also prevent things like; vehicles to overwatch enemies that is in engagement range with Big Guns Never Tire. Overwatch is worded the exact same way as the enhancement. "Shoot as if it's your shooting phase." However, Big Guns Never Tire only works on your turn. So even though you are shooting as if it's your phase, it's not. Any additional rules will not apply if they require a specific timing.

Glad you enjoyed it - what you are referring to was the limitation of the old Overwatch in 9th edition, now if works like this: WHEN: Your opponent’s Movement or Charge phase, just after an enemy unit is set up or when an enemy unit starts or ends a Normal, Advance, Fall Back or Charge move. TARGET: One unit from your army that is within 24" of that enemy unit and that would be eligible to shoot if it were your Shooting phase. EFFECT: Your unit can shoot that enemy unit as if it were your Shooting phase. RESTRICTIONS: Until the end of the phase, each time a model in your unit makes a ranged attack, an unmodified Hit roll of 6 is required to score a hit, irrespective of the attacking weapon’s Ballistic Skill or any modifiers. You can only use this Stratagem once per turn.

Deathwing Assualt enhancement gives them DS turn 1, and according to some interpretations of Rapid Ingress you can use it turn one on units that can come into the table turn 1

Thank you! I’m pretty sure that he's immediately destroyed. The attacks are resolved one at a time and the 'inflict damage' step of the core rules states if a model is reduced to 0 hp it is destroyed and removed from play. Since every attack sequence involves the inflict damage step, he would be destroyed, removed and then the next attack sequence of the remaining pool of attacks would commence. Since the character is gone, his ability wouldn't apply to any following attacks. One could make an argument for Persisting Rules, page 10 in the Rules commentary. But it won’t apply here because FNP isn’t a “persisting effect” as there’s no mention of a “length of duration has passed” according to your given example of (Eg. until the start of your next turn). This is what leads me to beleive it’s not considered a “persisting effect”. Long story short, I’m pretty sure punking a character with your character before your main squad strikes their main squad to get rid of a buff protecting a unit is legal and moreover a logical benefit of precision rule.

@@vfminiatures Hi again! Sorry it took me so long to reply. I broke out my leviathan rule book and, with core rules as written your above statements are correct. The clarification for this is actually on page 18 of the online “rules commentary” document on the warhammer community download page, under the “while this model is leading a unit” section. It states that “such rules cease to apply if that unit ceases to be an attached unit (such as when the last bodyguard model is destroyed) - if this is the result of an enemy units attacks all “when this model is leading a unit” rules cease to apply after the attacking units attacks have been resolved” and as mentioned before belial and the death wing knights are part of the same unit, so typhus’ ability would only go away once the entire squad had finished attacking. It’s quite a key rule so I have absolutely no idea why they didn’t include that passage in the core rule book, and it took a real effort to find. I mean no offence or insult on you guys at all though, it’s really hard to find and I only knew about it thanks to some very diligent people in my gaming group. Just another GW oversight really.

Ok, thanks for the investigation. Stupid rule tbh 😂 Still not sure it applies to the situation where leader has “left” the squad before the last bodyguard since dead. It just feels wrong that the Precision rule wouldn’t work in such an obvious way, I’d personally feel obligated to argue against this interpretation of the rule, even though it does read in quite an straightforward way.
