I love your deep dives into dark aesthetics! You bring all the knowledge of pro fashion stylists and it's shows! Glad I am not the only spooky person who thinks this deeply about my aesthetic. 🖤📿
love this video and excited for a series on the other essences! also side note: i genuinely want a remote job only. you don't have to deal with office politics.
Im excited you're excited! And I understand, I genuinely believe if a job can be done from home then in office is a waste of rent / electricity for the company 🤷🏻♀️
I genuinely don't care how fast you make videos. You do you and take your time. I enjoy these types of videos but I want you to be healthy more, so please don't feel like you have to be pressured by time. I have no problem waiting for a well thought out video. Thank you for doing these types of videos, they bring such an edgy and different perspective on the essences. Take care 🖤
The makeup brand Kaleidos is a mix between romantic/ethereal and the colors are just perfect! and I loved Diana Ross example cuz it’s a reminder that ethereal doesn’t need to be loud with all the accessories and outfits but looking like you’re drifting away with the flowing hair, clothing, smokey makeup. I’m a male and it’s a little harder to find clothing like that but I intend to explore buying in the women’s section and hopefully finding what suits me. Thank you🖤
Oh absolutely Kaleidos is a great Ethereal brand! I was looking for a balance of one that also has a Dark Aesthetic though so thats why I landed on Girl Cult 🖤 and yes Diana Ross is such a great Ethereal muse! I wanted to show not often talked about Ethereals because I love Tilda & Cate Blanchett but a lot of channels already reference them
@@be4utybanque yes! So if you liked the rituel de fille color, Im wearing something similar which is the Isamaya Black liplaq, Milk's Odyssey Gloss in Voyage is more purple but similar, and Girl Cult's Mirror Lip in J79 Valley of Desperate Love looks similar!
Love this! Please don’t pressure yourself into creating at a certain pace - we love your content and we will wait as long as we need to! ✨ Also, as someone with ethereal essence I have been waiting for the universe to deliver some dark aesthetic content for what feels like years. Thank you for bringing that! ❤️🔥
Thank you for this! I used to be so offended that people thought I was cold/aloof when I wouldn’t even do anything so I tried to be Natural Essence. Needless to say if Natural isn’t in your blend, you’ll just look atrocious lol I’m actually really able to pull off full Ethereal looks (mermaid, renaissance, goddess or pirate) and it doesn’t even look costume-y. Just like I was made for it!
It's Rituel de Fee ( in terms of pronunciation) It means " Rituals of Girls". I guess to evoke the idea of witchiness and spell casting in cosmetic rituals. Like that girl/feminine acts of beauty and creativity are also a magical act. Is that what you are wearing on your lips in this vid? Its super cute !! (Sorry for all the comments btw)
Great video! In terms of classic / ethereals and looking from another era...think of it more this way: Classics look great in period shows etc, because their features are so balanced and their demeanour so poised, it lends itself to acting/ appearing in shows etc about other eras. They have a neutrality ( in a good way !) that makes them versatile for multiple looks and roles without feeling out of place. Classics never tend to look out of place (unless wearing something mega extreme or overwhelming their features/ energy) Whereas Ethereals look like they belong somewhere else.... they sort of don't fit in right now. Maybe they would look amazing like a renaissance art or a 1920s silent film, or medieval, or Ancient sculptures / artworks and stories. But the point is, they don't fit in with the 'now', they look like they would fit better somewhere else. They remind you of another time, something far away and faintly remembered. The past is also distant from us, a different temporal space. If that makes sense? This is also nice in that this opens it up to be more inclusive to different bodies/ races etc. Classics - can fit in any time period or place Ethereal - belong some other place, but not here and not now. They remind you of something / somewhere far from now.
I would also add that etherals tend to have a 'wise' quality, as much as we love the mermaid high fantasy quality of the essence, the true lynch pin is almost a 'crone like' wisdom. They look like maybe they know something intuitively that others can't see. This is why artists and poets etc give off ethereal essence even if it's not physically part of their blend. (Like Siouxsie Sioux - in terms of 'Pure Kitchener' essences her features lean dramatic and sharp, and yet she looks like she is seeing something we cant, her words and music evoke something deeper, and she channels this silent film quality that is mesmerising. ) In terms of Bjork, she has been officially noted by Kitchener sources as having Ethereal / Ingenue, so we know that for sure, but its not a complete analysis. But I reckon she also has gamine in there. Another person who has recently been officially noted as having 45% ethereal is Mitsuko Uchida, her aesthetic isn't super dark, but it can lean more dark.
@@silkymochi Thank you! I really loved this video. I feel like it really steps into your own interpretations/ artistic vision of essence and I love to see that.
Another great video. Thank you for your diverse examples. As a plus sized girl it made my heart flutter when you showed the woman in the Selkie dress. I never see myself in fashion commentary videos (if im not watching someone who focuses on that area in fashion). Im glad you took time to yourself, and you should take all the time you need. 🖤When do you think you'll reopen the Astrology style readings? Will you next year?
Of course! I understand because I also wish to see more diversity in fashion in general- Selkie and Micheline Pitt are my favorite references because they do show diversity in models & have inclusive sizing, granted theyre expensive but still great inspirations of what clothing/fabrics to look for 🖤 more dark aesthetic videos like this coming!
I don't remotely have Ethereal Essence (as much as I wanted to lol) but commenting and following this series since every video of yours has something new and interesting. Happy to see you back and hyped for Dark Romantics and Deep Autumn dark aesthetics
I love so much the way you explained that essence is something that you feel about someone, I completely agree! Also, thanks to you videos I been feeling more confident to embrace and acept my unsettling energy and darkness, I been criticized a lot all my life for it and been trying to be more approachable but it's just tiresome, so please take care of your self I can wait impatiently for you next videos! 🖤✨️
We appreciate your content so much! Don't feel pressured to rush it. Quality is much more important than quantity, but so is resting. 🖤 Edit: I looooved the part where you said embracing a dark aesthetic is being with OK with not being approachable! That is exactly it!!
Thank you 🥹🖤 learning to balance resting and working lol and also I shouldve added "being ok with not being approachable but those also with a dark aesthetic will approach you" because thats how you find your people 🖤
Im so happy 🤭 i hope your week goes well too. Im manifesting that your workplace will let yall work from home again, it just makes more sense !? Especially for creatives, where the environment/vibe is so important for the outcome. Im an ethereal, natural, gamine, i dunno what order tbh. I loved this video from top to bottom, the "starter pack" was so cool. i love sheer fabrics so much and theyre going to be trending next year apparently as well as other ethereal styles so im very excited to see that. Ive been looking for a sheer maxi skirt, sheer dress, and/or a sheer/mesh fitted top. Excited to see your next video.
Thank you for your positive vibes and manifesting 🖤 and I agree, I used to work in production line which makes sense that cant be remote but what I do now makes more sense remotely esp since the work isnt team based & all the work is online 🫡 I heard! The beauty in essences though is it will always look good, trending or not because its personal to you 🖤 i love thrifting my sheer robes, I also love Marcella!
This kinda made me realize that ethereal is my main essence, I have a bit of natural and dramatic as well, I kinda wished I had a more dramatic than ethereal, but I think ethereal is still really cool and pretty. It reminds me of how all my (Halloween) costumes are based on dark, earthy otherworldly creatures (dark faun, autumn forest that becomes a creature, raven demon and fallen angel warrior, etc.). I find it a lot harder to put this into day to day style than costumes thou :P Costumes you can go all out with, and you can embrace that otherworldly aspect of ethereal, that can feel odd in a daily outfit. Also kinda struggle with how all the recommendations for ethereal are very feminine (I dress more androgynous), and very light coloured, so this helped a bit. As a dark autumn I go for the more washed out colours from my season, white would be very un-harmonious for me and too bold for the ethereal essence, but muted browns, muted greys or muted blues with black pants and brown leather boots looks amazing. Because of my colour season I go more for a dark faun/dark angel/dark creatures that live in the dark autumn forest otherworldly than mermaid or fairy otherworldly. Oh, on materials, I have a few amazing dresses from viscose that remind me so much of water, it's amazing! Another recommendation that I never see for ethereal, but works wonders for me is having a hood to your top layer. An oversized hoodie, a sleeveless shirt with a hood, or a cape with a hood for outerwear, it gives that same draped effect that's so often recommended. Also on jewelry; chain earrings! (like a moon earring with a chain with a cuff).
thank you for this video 🫶🏻 you have inspired me to finally lean into the dark aesthetic that i have always wanted to have, but was too scared and confused to get! hope things get better with your work ✨
Thank you so much! I understand, I was first inspired by my Romantic Goth art teacher & always was inspired to dress like her but was too scared because of my family lol But hopefully in my videos you can see the various ways to go about dark aesthetics that feel comfortable for you & can grow over time!
I'm also a graphic designer. I hear you! I was so much happier and productive while working from home. My mental and physical health has suffered since returning to office. Take care of yourself, love. We adore your videos and we'll be here for whatever fits into your schedule.
@@silkymochi definitely worth the wait lol I'm pausing video and ransacking my closet in between time .. one of my favourite godesses is definitely Nyx and when you mentioned Hecate i Knew I was on the same page i definitely need the confidence to be unsettling but I know once I get my wardrobe sorted I think it would follow I do love acting
I actually thinking of doing one on one consultations kind of? Pondering if it should be a $20/month patreon reward where the person can literally message me on discord questions, send pics asking what they should get? Still figuring it out but that's what I'm leaning towards
Thank you 🥹🖤 and if the items arent linked look into my Dark Ethereal Pinterest board! Every image used here I tried to make sure it was there so you might find the seller that way
I feel like in a still photo I’d have classic/dramatic essence, but my roommate told me my main essence was etherial because of how I move and interact with the world. I think that’s such an interesting thing to consider as you’re breaking down your aesthetic. But this completely explains all of my makeup choices. I always go for a gloss and sparkly eyeshadow and that is completely wrong for my kibbe type. But it feels right! I want to try more with flowing fabrics. Velvet and georgette feel like a good starting point.
Great video! I have ethereal essence in my own blend (dramatic/romantic/ethereal) so I was tickled to see a deep dive into dark/alt style for that essence. Note on dark neutrals: Midnight blue definitely reads as otherworldly and somewhat unapproachable, especially when styled with metallic colors, celestial motifs, or both. Again, thank you!
@@silkymochi Floats but absolutely could read as either benevolent or menacing. Gotta love a color and fabric that can do both. (Bonus points for styles inspired by Fortuny.)
I wish you'd do dark aesthetic videos for bright springs. I feel like black does nothing. I'm better off wearing gauzy whites and blushes. Shifting into my ethereal completely and letting my clothes be nearly nude and bright and sheer and glittery is all I can really do...
I did do a video on Dark Aesthetics for Springs and my other video for Summers and currently filming Dark Aesthetics in different colors - so there are options! For my Essence videos I mainly wanted to focus fabric, silhouette and a vibe an outfit conveys. My Fantasy Muses video covers other options outside of black as well as my Dark Dystopian Style video if that helps
I love how you describe very specifically how both classic and natural are quite opposite to ethereal and would be hard to find together in a mix and especially with a high dose of E, and yet here I am with my verified ENC (40/35/25) blend. Its possible ;)
Oh definitely possible! I think it was more so to differentiate the two but I didnt mean to say they're impossible to mix or to have both :) I do Essence readings and actually just had a client whos an Ethereal dominate with Classic tertiary essence 🖤
@@silkymochi awesome! So fun when unlikely essences mix, right? Thanks for the video. Immediatly shared it on the TIB facebook group for my fellow ethereals :) they love it as well
Wow. This was a surprisingly well thought out & articulated way of talking about one's personal fashion sense & style. I really dug it. Though I'm much more narrow & stream lined in how I dress & think, I can get this. Was interesting. 🦇
Oh its all cool. We seem to have a lot in common: Retro Hollywood. Horror films. Darkly-Inclined pop culture references (ect). Alas Its not totally my style but for the last few years I've been apart of the Goth Sub Culture and we both seem to more or less be apart of that. (Note: All black wardrobe; if I collect a film it'll most likely be a retro horror title on 4K; we listen to a lot of Post-Punk, early Alternative Rock and a _TON_ of Goth Rock.) So we seem to have more in common then you might think.🦇👍Cheers!🦇🎃🦇
I love how in depth you go and sll the examples you give! Take your time with video making, real life is important and we're happy to wait! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on style, its a really refreshing perspective and has made me excited to try new things i wasnt brave enough to before 🫶
What are the best dark ethereal essences movies to get ideas please wonderjng how i could have outfits as a pure natural body type with Ethereal, Natural and Ingenue essences but want to try the dark essences and im a mum too how can i incorporate this please?? Emily
