I played my bagpipes on the New York side of the St. Lawrence river. When I finished I could hear a piper playing the same song on the Canadian side of the river! I played seconds to see if it was my echo and the Canadian played the main melody. How cool is that?!
I love the sound of the bagpipes and always did since I was a kid. Now I'm a Canadian Army veteran and my dying wish is to have the pipes played at my funeral
@@DarkIsleBagpiper Thank you...I still picture and hear him playing Amazing Grace at our Father's graveside and slowly walking and Amazing Grace getting quieter.
They were brought to Scotland from Ireland where they were called War Pipes. Pipe bands are synonyms with Ireland, Scotland as well as other Celtic nations like Brittany.
God Bless Scotlands warriors, My ancestors are Chechens from the North Caucasus and our history is very similar, we also fought for independence, just like my ancestors, I believe that yours were also great!
I'm Scott from both sides of my family and whenever I hear the pipes, it's like they go right to my soul. No other music does this to me except Irish dancing, which I am also Irish. Thanks so much for you music.
For when "Weak" on Life and the perils it shows,a listen too the "Pipes" as played by you. A sense of Courage too overcome resonates from Ear too body, too Soul. You have a Gift from God. Play and keep playing. You inspire, with your music, and Comfort, and Heal. God Bless you.
The only instrument of war...but it can also make ya dance, put an extra step in the walk, make ya cry, and raise the soul! Over twenty years ago I played the pipes for former U.S. Secertary of the Treasury, David Kennedy's wife's funeral. He sat beside her grave, on a camp stool, bent dejected, a crushed soul. When the skirl was struck and the first tune played, I watched as he sat up straight, held his head high, then stoodup and turned around and stood as a granite monolith. Such is the pipe's magic! Love this tune!
Bagpipes are the best weapon EVER. The folks on the side of the piper get pumped up when they are played, the folks on the other side get scared shitless because they think the demon cats of hell are up on the Ridge about ready to scratch their souls out.
Christopher Reilly yes! The Best way to grab attention of the soldiers and inspire them to fight! Striking fear into the hearts of the opposition. Those pipers who played on the battlefield have ALL my respect. To go to battle with nothing but the Bagpipes. It inspires me! God bless our soldiers❤️ #NeverForgotten
Check your History Jr.---Bannockburn, Stirling bridge, Clitheroe, Scone, Roslin, Loudin Hill, Berwick...on and on..and the Scots today , while part of the UK BY CHOICE, have a significant measure of autonomy from England thanks to those wars of independence. Its amazing how readily available the facts are with a lil education.
@@AliNaderzad :I don’t get the meaning of your reply of drywall though I very well know its meaning. I had seen their construction methods in the US like drywall and stud.
Wow! Once upon a time, I didn't think there was much range of expression available to the bagpipes, as you might hear in violin or guitar, but performances like these have proved me wrong. The Dark Isle Bagpiper is a wonderful musical talent, and this is a lovely, dramatic piece. Thank you for this.
Wow, wow, wow!!!!! This is so moving! I love it, that is so beautiful! Im a Aussie and proud to say my grandparents were from Scotland, I am very proud of my heritage! Thank you from 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Great stuff Lassie, used to work next door to Glasgow school of piping and often heard pipers playing outside the building on occasions , Your a very good piper loved that rendition . Well Done.
"Mimi" passed 2018. An Irish mum with Scot conviction. The Wisdom, Strength, and Story of those too have had such a "Mum". These Notes bring warmth too the Heart in a Loss. Love you "Mimi".
Me congratulo en Saludarte y conocerte..me Maravilla saber como tocas la Gaita..I congratulate myself in greeting and meeting you .. I wonder how you play the Bagpipe ..¿de donde eres?..Where you from?
Wow, cannot wait to get back to where my roots lie. My family comes from the far North with my Grandma coming from Banffshire and my grandfather from Old Deer.. I played the pipe years ago and plan to again annoy my neighbors. Thank you for posting this version.
Robert Avery, One of the best memes I have seen states "My neighbors listen to great music whether they want to or not. I play the bagpipes". Your comment reminded me of this. I am just learning the pipes myself. Quite often during the non winter months I can be found on my front deck practicing on the PC. Sometimes I'll go out with the pipes and practice but still only part of the scale. I just got a set of pipes from my instructor a few months ago and still learning to play the scale with no drones. LOL Anyway, get back at it my friend. Dark Isle Bagpiper, awesome tune and playing. Thank you.
Must have been insane really. It would have been tied to war for them in a way that it isnt as much for us, so it must have really got them going. Hearing it ring out knowing this is it, its a fight to the death now.
When Bannockburn was fought (1314) The Gaels had nothing to do with it. 2 separate peoples, 2 separate kingdoms. Robert the Bruce and William Wallace meant nothing to the entire west coast of Scotland. They were foreigners. The Isles of Scotland were under the Stewardship of the Earl of Orkney, who was a loose Vassal of the Kingdom of Norway. The entire north coast of Scotland and most of the Scottish West Coast had not one thing to do with Edinburgh, Stirling, Scone etc . They came under the Archdiocese of Trondheim . Not one thing to do with the 'PAPISH' wars of Scottish Independence . The Gaels were independent and free and would remain that way for generations to come. Mel Gibson's movie has as much historical accuracy as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
I rarely comment of videos but she moved my heart with her effort and courageous looks! 🙏🙏🙏 Hope to see some more class bagpiper music from your end! Kudos to the cameraman! Love from Punjab,India!
you are something unique to listen to. The sound of the bagpipe is so close to cry that it is almost unexplainable. I love every note of it. Thanks so much.
I used to find it so peaceful drinking an icy cold coca cola and listening to the Scotts play amazing grace on the bagpipes EVERY evening in Kandahar Afghanistan

Enjoying...on the eve before Christmas Eve...2021* Since childhood...I have mysteriously had an adoration for the Bagpipes of Scotland and Ireland. It's totally un explainable ...to our Family knowledge ..there is no ancestry link to my attraction for the Pipes* But..regardless...I am totally enchanted and feel a connection..when I hear the Pipes. Had the Privilege to attend the International Pipe and games...near Brunswick, Maine in 2003* I was visiting my Son , who happened to be in the US Navy at the time and stationed there. It was Magical*
I am from the U.S. New England where a lot this story is from...my great grandfather fought in the war depicted in the film...42nd light Infantry Royal Americans.
